If you’re traveling to the area for hiking, biking or to see the local sites, this is a good place to stay. Don’t let the older appearance of this type of motel deter you-usually I see the older, motor-court and think twice. It would appear that the owners have done quite a bit of work to both the exterior and interior. The room we (2) stayed in was smaller, but had everything we needed. It was clean (both linens and interior) and the bed was comfortable. Flat screen tv on wall, plus mini-fridge, table and chairs and comfy recliner. The owners were happy to share advice on local restaurants and attractions as well. If you’re staying in this area, stay here. The other positive TripAdvisor are accurate.
Wonderful place, clean and comfortable!! Wonderful owners too!! Location was great, close to Ironton town square, WIFI worked like a charm. Parking right outside the door. Water was hot for showers...we have no complaints at all!!!!!!!
We had broke down on Christmas eve after seeing a family member. The owners were more than kind and gracious given our situation. The room had everything that is needed for a comfortable stay, including a microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer and tv. There were also 2 comfortable chair/recliners. We highly recommend staying here and we will be returning!
The good: The room was clean, the sheets and blankets were nice. Close to hiking trails, a couple of eateries, and 30 minutes to kayaking. Staff were pleasant. Pool area was nice. The bad: The hotel is older, and the room smelled musty, or so we thought. We just thought it needed aired out. Within an hour I had a horrible headache, which I get when exposed to mold as I'm allergic. The beds were hard and my husband and I both woke up hurting after a few hours. We had paid for a second night but neither of us could face another night on the mattress, and within an hour of returning to our room after the day out, my headache was back and we both were both having trouble breathing. We packed up and told the owners as we checked out. The response was "Thanks for staying with us!" No offer of even a partial refund. Also the rooms are smaller than standard size. My husband and I are both thin at 125 (me) and 160 pounds (him). The walkway on the side of each bed closest to the wall and door is about 6-8 inches. You have to climb in from the bottom, opposite side, or scoot sideways along the edge to get in the bed, which leaves you climbing over whoever gets to sleep on the roomier access side to use the bathroom in the night. Pillows were flat but we had brought our own.…
Great hotel! The rooms were nice and clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful with recommending places to visit in the area. They also have a very nice outdoor pool. We will definitely stay here again
We have been coming to this area for over 20 years and this is one of the best places to stay. Super clean, owners are the kindest people and the hotel is in a quiet neighborhood. Easy access to area attractions and food places. There is an outside swimming pool and we have used it before, but this time the temps were too cool. But it is kept very clean. Highly recommend staying here. American owned and can't beat cleanliness...even in all corners.
I can't say enough good about this motel!! We actually reserved 2 of their suites, one for us and the 2nd for our friends who are VERY particular about where they stay. All this on only the reviews from previous visitors. We were pleasantly surprised to find that everything we read couldn't have been more TRUE! The husband and wife managers are the nicest people we have ever met at the front desk of any hotel or motel we ever stayed at. So friendly and informative of the area. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were updated, clean, and comfortable. We arrived a day before our friends did, and found out that the motel does heat treatments to their rooms every Spring.....our friends room was being done at that time, it was a comfort to them to know that, as I said earlier, they are very particular. They were just as impressed and pleased with what this motel had to offer. If we are ever in that area again, we will NOT hesitate to reserve a room there again! Thank you so much for your hospitality!!…
Stayed one night in this cute little motel. Friendly staff who were very helpful. They have provided nice updates to an older motel; nice bathroom, comfortable beds, and they have a big flat screen TV. The place was immaculate; kudos to the housekeeping staff. I would definitely stay here again. Close enough to many hiking trails.
The room was smallish, but it was clean and well-maintained. It also had "character," (a brick wall, local artwork) unlike the cookie-cutter chain hotels with their non-descript, sterile, always the same stylings. The staff was friendly and gave information and tips about the area. The pool is wonderful. This hotel is literally right across the street from the Fort Davidson Historic Site. Our room for one night was between $90-$100
Stayed one night, then used their shuttle service to drop us off at the trailhead. Just what we needed to get a fresh start on our 3 day hike. Owner also gave us a great background on the local history on the ride over. We loved the trail and would certainly stay here again.
