The room is a little dated. At breakfast there were no eggs, just the biscuits and gravy (sigh) and the usually other stuff, waffles, yogert, some cereals etc. The room being near the highway was very noisy, we had earplugs and a white noise machine on and still it was loud. we have stayed at other hotels on the interstate and they are not that noisy. Would probably pass on this one if we were ever in the are again.

Convenient location right off highway 44. Kind of dated but was fine for one night. The breakfast wasn't huge but had enough things to pick from. Very close to St James winery and the Public House beer company restaurant.

We have always stayed here when we come to StJames. The staff is very friendly. The room has always been clean. If I have any questions or want something the staff is ready to help. We stay in a handicapped room. The bathroom is large and the shower has good bars to hold onto. This is very important to us as my husband has difficulty when showering.

Had a good 5 night stay this past week. The front desk staff was kind and accommodating as well as the housekeeping staff that asked most days if I needed anything. The indoor pool is closed but they have a new heater ordered so they can attempt at having it available soon. Their are 3 machines in the workout room and I used the treadmill 3 different days. Breakfast was ok. The last 2 days however they did not have biscuits and gravy which was the main substance food available the first 3 days. They did have a waffle machine, bagels, toast, applesauce, fruit, coffee, juice and a few other items. King room was spacious and well cleaned and maintained. The location was very close less than a half mile from the church I was ministering at, so that made the stay very convenient. There were a few areas that needed to be improved but a member of management let me know they had just purchased the property 3 weeks ago and it was evident that there are a number of improvements they are currently working on.

I have stayed in A LOT of hotelsover the years, and the Greenstay in St. James is the absolute worst hotel I have ever been in. First of all, they apparently don’t tell EVERYONE that they price match and I’m not sure if it is on their website. But if you’re reading this review, now you know that they DO price match, and they will even price match their own LOWER rate. We came to town and booked within a block of rooms. We originally booked at $89/night with the room block rate. When we checked in, they price matched their own $54/night rate. We checked in a day before my mother in law did, and they did not tell her about their price matching. We told her about how we were able to get a lower rate and when she went to check out she brought it up and they refused to price match for her. They said they could not price match at check out because rates may be different and because she checked in on a weekend day and not a week day. We checked the rates for the next month, and they were $54 for every week day and $68 for every weekend. They still refused to apply the lower rate. Greenstay, as a whole, was absolutely disgusting. There was thick and obvious dust around the floor’s perimeter. Due to the large gap under our door, every scent and creature will be sure to enter your room. You’ll be sure to make best friends with the flies. We had no less than TEN flying around at any given time. Did I mention the dead cockroaches?! Although we did not find any live roaches running around our room, we did find tons of ants crawling on our sink, on the floor in the moldy bathroom, and into our bags. Definitely mold in the shower, on the shower curtain, on the bathroom floor, and in the room. The room was extremely musty and with the multiple ceiling stains, I’m sure there was mold hanging over us in the bed and spreading throughout the air. The multitude of stains all over the carpet made it impossible for us to feel comfortable enough to walk barefoot, and I partially want to burn my flip flops I wore at Greenstay. They place a paper wrapper around the toilet seat when you get there claiming that the toilet has been cleaned and sanitized, but when my mother in law first went to the use her toilet, she opened the lid to find poo in her toilet. Oh! Did I mention the cleaning crew quit mid-stay as well?! Not only did the cleaning staff not do an efficient job, they also don’t exist anymore. The grounds were unkempt…weeds that looked like they’ve been growing since ancient times. Cigarette butts and trash all over the stairs, sidewalk, and parking lot even though there’s buckets outside every room. There was a huge party of people in lawn chairs sitting in a circle in the parking lot on Saturday night and loud people yelling almost every night. Think you’ll be able to relax poolside? Don’t bring your swimsuit…the I ndoor pool has not been taken care of. The water was green and there was algae growing on the bottom of the pool. This was the absolute worst sleep I’ve had in years. I feel like I need a vacation after staying at Greenstay. Moral of the story: DO NOT STAY HERE, but if you absolutely have to, bring Clorox wipes, your own sheets, towels and pillows, because if you don’t clean your room, who will? You’ll also want to bring ant and roach killer so you don’t bring those critters hims with you, and be sure to PRICE MATCH to save money, because this place isn’t worth $10/night.

We have stayed here previously and it was fine, the room was aged but clean and fine for a quick weekend visit. But it’s gone way downhill since we last visited about 1.5yrs ago. We stayed one night and checked out early. We wouldn’t have stayed the first night if it hadn’t been so late when we arrived. The room was not very clean. I wiped down counters and nightstands and was left with a brown wipe. I wiped brown items off the light switch plates. The toilet had been freshly cleaned and the shower as well, but that was about the only thing we could tell that was clean. The sheets were stained or maybe even dirty we couldn’t tell. We used some blankets we had in the car. The lamp shades are tattered, dirty and had holes in them. A hanger in the room was covered in a slimy goo. I just couldn’t stay here again. They refunded the 2nd night as we had prepaid. We just wanted to go and did not request a refund for the first night. I would not stay here again. This place needs better cleaning practice (especially during COVID) and to replace broken and tattered items.

We were on our way home to IL but needed to stop as tired. We saw three motels as filling up car and called Greenstay. We have stayed in 3 diff motels on this trip and this is the first where the clerk did not have a mask on or any signs requiring masks. We are not used to this! At breakfast there were three separate sets of people with no masks. The beds were comfortable but the rest of the furniture had seen better days. Elec outlet closes to door would not hold plugs and falling from wall. We called about TV having small picture and was told that our TV did not get HD If looking for fast food McDonalds and Sonic are seconds away. Breakfast provided was frozen mini muffins, plain bagel, orange juice, milk or yogurt. Believe there may have been oatmeal in a bag. Do not think we would stay here again.

The staff who work here are polite, but the way the whole cleaning situation went down is so annoying. Why should a guest have to ask for their room to be cleaned? Isn’t that supposed to be a given courtesy when you stay at a hotel? I get that they are trying to be cautious when it comes to COVID, but they didn’t even bother making our beds. If they’re so concerned about COVID, why don't they wear gloves and/or masks when cleaning a guest’s room? All they did was take out our trash and replaced our towels. They did a very poor job. If you want a hotel that ACTUALLY makes the effort to clean your room, DO NOT go here. But if you want average coffee, bagels for breakfast, and a warm pool, then go right ahead, buddy.

I was quite disappointed about my stay at this location. I stayed in room 215. The staff was polite, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Nevertheless, the TV in the area with the bed initially had no sound. I contacted the front desk and although the TV was replaced, it took 2 remotes to operate that TV. Channels could only be programmed by number, not with the channel button. When we went to have breakfast at 9am there was no coffee ready. It took 15 minutes to make it. The only thing available to eat was cereal and a bagel upon request! When I checked out the receptionist ask about the stay, apologized for the last of breakfast, and explained that room 215 has had TV problems for awhile now. For $90+ I expect more!

We stayed here for the weekend. The outside could have been swept and the carpet vacuumed. The front desk was helpful and we were able to get more towels and toilet paper. The inside was clean but a bit dated. It served our need of being close to family.
