Was put in this hotel to recover from surgery. The recliner has to be manually lein back and very uncomfortable. Both full size beds were so uncomfortable you could fill yourself falling into a hole and the boards & springs jab you. Woke up every day in so much pain. Dishwasher was so load, it sounded like a hurricane coming through the room. Soap in the shower is behind you on the back wall. So sitting on chair in the bathtub makes it very hard to reach. You have to go to the front desk for anything (towels, tp, salt, pepper, etc). Pool is at another hotel. You have to travel to there sister hotel and hope they will let you use the pool or pay the ymca.
I stopped here to get a good night’s sleep while traveling across the state. The person on the phone who helped me make a reservation was very nice and got me a good rate. Check in was simple and quick. The hotel was very clean. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. Check out was very easy and I was back on the road very quickly. They do not have breakfast if that is important to you.
GM Deb is SO RUDE. Do not spend your money here. Called to book a block of rooms for a restaurant venue and was hung up on before even being able to speak. When I called back, I was hung up on again, then transferred to Deb again only to be told she did not want to help me. I have never had such an experience with a horribly trained GM.
We stayed here over Mother’s Day weekend and had a great time. This was the first hotel I have stayed at that has a Kitchen setup in the room . A full sized fridge with an actual freezer was great. With Braums just around the corner we bought a couple tubs off ice cream and were able to keep them fresh in the freezer so we had ice cream every night. Also having a dishwasher with plates and glasses made enjoying a meal in the room much easier. Hope to stay here again soon.
For three months, this Candlewood Suites location was my home. It was as I had come to expect from this chain of hotels and a little bit more. Listed are my reasons I would stay at this location in the future. Pros- The parking lot and grounds were well maintained and there was enough space for parking. Upon entrance, the lobby, at the time displayed Christmas decorations and a tree. The area was well lit and made you feel welcome. I knew I had made the right decision upon first sight. Prior to my changing hotels from an unpleasant one that I was residing in, I spoke to Debra Lansdale, general manager. I told her of my concerns and asked if she would be able to accommodate me. Not only was she agreeable, but she offered that I come and look at the room that was available in advance before I made a move. You talk about top-of-the-line service! How could I not want to move to this Candlewood? Morgan, the evening clerk, was pleasant and handle the check-in process with speed and accuracy. As days passed, I looked forward to seeing her when I arrived from work. She became a friend I could chat with or get advice on where to find a local business to serve some of my personal needs like, a good hairdresser. Morgan was a jewel! Free USA Today newspapers were available to guests. Picking up a newspaper on my way to work became my new habit to stay abreast of the world news. The hallways of the living quarters were well lit with clean carpet and welcoming visuals; paintings or desks with decorations when the elevators opened to your floor. My room was a studio style living unit. Clean with moderate spacing, the window view allowed enough lighting for my Angel Wing begonia to grow and make my room feel like home. The housekeeper, Jade, kept my room looking fresh and inviting during her weekly cleaning schedule. Again, another person that I got to know in passing, that offered a kind smile and a few words of conversation that made me feel like I was a friend and not just a “guest.” Tiffany was a night clerk that worked the weekends. Full of boundless energy, she was my “go to” person for restaurant choices and/or shoulder to release my tension on during stressful times on my temporary contract job. She’ll never know how much I appreciated her taking time to listen to my concerns. With a full heart, I will always be grateful to her. The free laundry service was so helpful as well as the exercise room that was connected to the area. Both were open 24/7 and trust me I took advantage of both. These areas were also well maintained. There is also a business area on the first floor that had at least two computers, a fax machine and some business supplies. This location sat in a shared area with other restaurants and business as well as locations that were only ten minutes or less away including a hospital. Con- During my stay, I had trouble sleeping for several days due to a semi-truck driver that would leave the motor running during the night during the winter. Unfortunately, being a light sleeper and the truck being parked not far from my window, I battled insomnia. Morgan, the night clerk, took my complaint to heart and tried to offer some alternatives including changing rooms. Although things eventually worked themselves out, I admired the great customer service she gave me in trying to resolve the problem while checking on me regarding my sleep and comfort for several days. Conclusion- I would not hesitate to return to this location because the fine people here made my stay feel like home.…
The king suite was so nice. Had a home like feel & clean. Met well past our expectations while away from home. Staff friendly & helpful. Conveniently located for our activities. Kitchenette made possible for in room cooking with no breakfast option due to COVID. Will plan on staying here again when in the area.
This would be a reasonable price for a suite if the hotel had any services at all. It does not. There is no room service, maid service every 7 days, no restaurant, you have to go to the lobby to get toilet paper, linens, and silverware that may not be in the room. You can purchase some food items in the "Candlewood Cupboard" for an extortionate price. The nice things are that the beds are comfortable, even the pull out bed, there is a door to the bedroom, free laundry machines, the front desk people are polite and always there. (not "away temporarily") and it's quiet. The furnishings are also nice and contemporary. The only thing I am really dissapointed at is the price of the King Suite. There should be no way to charge us a nightly rate of $135 for more than 7 days in advance with no refunds possible if we decided to leave. AND on top of that, when you check in, there's some type of security deposit. If the hotel had services, I would consider the price to be acceptable.…
We have stayed at this location several times over the last few years and usually do not have any issues. During out last stay we had issues with the service and use of masks. Overall this property is in a good location, close to the James River Freeway. On this stay, we stayed in a King Suite and it was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay, except for the issues below. On this stay we had one issue with service. Over an eight hour time period, we asked the front desk three separate times for a soft pillow. Two times we asked face to face at the front desk and another time we asked on the phone from our room. Each time they promised to have one brought to our room. No one ever brought us a soft pillow. The staff has put some safety measures in place for Covid-19, however these were tainted when the employee that checked us out at the front desk was not wearing a mask and was moving around the lobby area. It was early in the morning, but that should not make a difference when staff is dealing with guests.…
My husband and I were wanting a place to stay so we could get up early and have a full day at an off road park. We booked this at the last minute. The front desk clerk was super friendly when I called and made reservations. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of this hotel, how quiet it was, and how safe it was. Thank you for having a clean dog friendly hotel! We will be back next time we are in the area!!!
Our room was on the second floor and I don't think the renovations have been done yet. The size of the room was very nice and we had a king size bed. The mattress needed to be replaced because it sagged downward on both side from use. The middle of the mattress was more comfortable. Room was clean but the furniture for the large desk area needs to be updated. The chairs sat too low and there was one chair that looked like a desk chair that you couldn't raise up the height at all. It sat too low. The two burner stove, the burners wouldn't turn on. We went to the office area next to front desk and those chairs need to be replaced too. They sat too low and you couldn't raise them up at all. I would go there again, hopefully all the renovations will be done.
