Best Western Route 66 Rail Haven garners appreciation for its nostalgic atmosphere and era-specific decor, enticing many travelers seeking a classic experience, although a cozy ambiance may not be felt by all. While the hotel's value perception is split, with some guests finding it economical and others questioning the cost, the location offers a quiet stay close to attractions amidst safety concerns. Room opinions are polarized, balancing between clean, quaint charm and issues with size and maintenance. The service is typically friendly and professional, despite occasional lapses, and cleanliness throughout the hotel consistently earns high marks.

We stayed in the Elvis suite. A quirky room with a few pictures of Elvis, a couch made out of the back of a Cadillac. The air conditioning was not working properly and the room was very warm (it had been in the 90s that day). It is an old school motel which is fun to experience. This means the bathroom is very small but it had the best water pressure of any hotel I've stayed at in years.

We enjoyed our stay at Best Western Route 66 Rail Haven. It is an older motel, but was fixed very nicely & was CLEAN. It looked cozy & inviting. The bed mattress was very comfortable & we slept well. The staff was friendly & helpful. We enjoyed the 50's decor which included 3 vintage cars. My husband had fun with the old phone booth in the breakfast area, which connects to the front desk if you pick up the receiver. : )
Breakfast was better than the average Best Western breakfast. I liked the coffee machine which offered many options other than just regular or decaf coffee! I picked mocha-very good.
If we are ever in the area again, we would likely stay here again.

I do not write reviews often, unless the place truly made an impact on me (either positive or negative.) I drove to Missouri for NADD National Championship (dog things) this past week from Washington DC. On arrival to the hotel I previously booked they told informed me they overbooked (1030pm) and had no room for me. I scrambled and stumbled upon a less than sanitary hotel for that night. During the event several people recommended this Best Western.

I arrived at 11am and spoke with Sandy. She not only had a room available for me, but also allowed early check in and advised me of the waived pet fee and discounted rate for the event. The check in was smooth, I was looking forward to taking a shower and taking a nap after a LONG night. Walking into the room I was blown away by the cleanliness and room in general as well as the amenities. Also note, the breakfast available in the morning is hot and delicious. When I checked out, Sandy was again at the desk and the process was easy. This Best Western turned my trip around for the better, thank you Sandy!

If we return next year, this hotel will absolutely be my first choice.

Pros: the pool was immaculate, our daughter loved it, there was also inflatable pool floats and great sitting areas. You have seats outside your room which we loved sitting outside on the evening we were there.

Cons: the room smelt of urine. It must have been a pet friendly room (216). It was horrible, and if the hotel say they can't smell it, them somwthing must be wrong with their smell!! The room was tired, we had cockroaches, and the beds were horrendous. They were hard, noisy and bedding was discoloyred. They tend to put tgose doing 1 night in the rubbish rooms as from some of the ohoros (of the better reviews), they look slightly better. None of us sletpt due to extremely bed air con. Without doubt, the worst motel we stated in out of the 12 places we stayed on route 66. The staff shouted at a group of European guests as they mixed up the gravy with batter. I was shocked how the male spoke to them. The location is full of drug takers and was not somewhere we would take our 7 year old daughter again. I would give it a 1, but the pool is great.

On behalf of our team I would like to sincerely apologize for not exceeding your expectations. We regret not knowing how unhappy you were during your stay and would have offered options to make the experience better. We take our quality control seriously as well as the safety for our guests. We work very hard to provide a clean and pleasant room for every guest, every time and are very saddened that this was not your experience. We do have designated pet rooms, however that was not in the room described. If there is anything else I can do to assist, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly. Thank you so much for your feedback.

Stayed two nights at property. In initial guest room, thermostat did not work which required manual turn on/off of heater. When turned on, heater ran continuously and room would get very hot — when turned off, room cooled very quickly. Very frustrating — especially in the middle of the night in January! Requested and was somewhat reluctantly granted another guest room for second night — thermostat worked fine but initial warm-up of room upon arrival took approximately an hour. Also of note, bed area of both rooms would heat up — bathrooms were both quite chilly as heat did not reach them.

Aside of the heating issues, guest rooms were clean and as expected for a mid-level motel. Parking lot is very well lit and felt safe when arriving to room late at night.

We had an accessible room with our son, too small to maneuver with a wheelchair. Adequate bathroom with roll-in shower and decent shower stool. Fan sounds like a truck idling!
Carpeting looks dirty and is unhygienic, you walk (and drive) straight from the street into the room. If you have a room at the front you will be bothered by street noise and if you are at the back (room 320) no Wi-Fi!!
The breakfast left a lot to be desired, if you come at 7 am you still have a choice, but after that you are out of luck, too many guests for what was offered. Not replenished. Breakfast room far too small!
Hotel setting is nice but could use some renovation.

Visited as part of our Route66 honeymoon. Unfortunately all the hotels and motels on our trip have been pre-booked and paid for. We visited a Best Western at Grand Canyon just a week ago and had such appalling service that I was reluctant to come here. Had Best Western responded to our complaint appropriately at the time, or responded to the bad review we had left, we would not have been so reluctant to attend, but as we were ignored, charged for a breakfast we could not eat (wanted cereal but the whole hotel had no milk, despite there being a shop across the street, plus the appalling rudeness of a staff member) we still had the room booked.
The room appeared clean and the a/c had been left on which meant it was cool upon arrival. The bedding although clearly clean and laundered, did have a stain on the bottom sheet, plus a previously used bottle of complimentary body wash had been left on the shower shelf, so although it looked clean, the chambermaid had not been thorough. The lamp had a faulty bulb so we could not use it. Hopefully it was just the bulb and not an electrical fault. .
Because of the last incident, we will not risk breakfast here, proof that one bad experience will always impact further.
I will NEVER book a Best Western as long as I live and will be following up my previous complaint with their Head Office when I return to UK.
Please see previous reviews as I have had fantastic service across the USA for the past two weeks, except at BW hotels.
BW please get your act together. You will be hearing from us. As per previous complaint, I doubt BW will respond

Thank you for your review. As we cannot speak for another persons hotel, we are sorry about your experience with a previous Best Western in another state. However as for your stay with our hotel, we absolutely apologize for your inconveniences you have experienced. We will be looking into the matter of the stained sheet and a light bulb that had burnt out and will take care of these issues. We will be sharing this complaint with our housekeeping and maintenance team to ensure they know and understand how these things have affected your visit and to use this information to do better keeping up with with stained linen, items left behind and burnt light bulbs in the future. Again please accept our sincere apologies and we wish you safe travels back home.

This is a good value if you want a rt 66 motel. Biggest negative was our std. king room. It was very small for 2. For 1 maybe ok. The room was clean and had all the amenities you would expect.
Located about 5 mi south of I44 it is in a quiet seemingly safe area.
Exiting I44 has many modern, mid range hotels and restaurants. There were a high number of "homeless" looking around this area though. Not as safe an area seemingly as this location is.
In our return trip we stayed at the Comfort Inn in the south end of town, quite a ways from I44. Having done the route 66 experience over the past few years we are now staying at more mid range locations.
Research their site well to figure what room and where it is located. You do get what you pay for.

Retro and cozy. Nice photo ops with antique cars. The room is small; however extremely clean. Has a sofa and small desk, in addition to a small refrigerator and microwave. No USB port in the room, we utilized our laptop for phone charging. They have a chair also outside of room, as well as some other chairs and table outside the reception area. The hot breakfast consisted of eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, most hotels do not offer at such a reasonable cost. For women traveling alone, it should make them feel safe since they do leave the lights on at night. We did not use the pool but it is a nice size and definitely great to get some sun, albeit a bit noisy. They have some T-Shirts(Route 66) for purchase as well. The people at reception were super friendly. So if you are traveling the Route 66, definitely recommend this small, cozy and retro hotel!

We were passing through and had a great time thanks to the excellent accommodation, large and complete with everything. With parking, swimming pool and close to restaurants. Characteristic Route66 style with vintage cars, it also offers breakfast which however is provided in a somewhat small room.

It is safe for foot traffic nearby our hotel. Night time is worthy of caution, but that is a given at any motel.
