I needed a place to visit my dad in the hospital and we came down for two nights. When I checked in I was asked if I wanted the dog floor or non dog floor and I really needed to get some sleep so I said the non dog floor. Well the entire time we were there we were right across from two dogs that barked at everything that walked by. The room was clean and it was normal. The room I booked was supposed to be a Deluxe Queen Room and it stated the room size was about double the other rooms I looked at online but it was the size of a normal hotel room. The pictures online showed a great breakfast area and promoted full hot breakfast but it was the normal biscuits, gravy and eggs and the other cold items. Juice machine was out or broken while we were there. Because of how we booked and did not know if we were going to stay two nights, we booked 2 different nights. I told them that up front and they said "No problem just Check out and back in in the morning. which I did but when we came back to our room that night our keys did not work and the housekeeping had not came by at all. With all of that said, it was worth the price I paid and I would stay there again but I appreciate when people market their property correctly. I would suggest it for the right price but just know what you are getting into.

The rooms were clean and well furnished and the bathroom was in excellent condition. One of our party used the pool facilities and was very pleased. The only downside was the inability to get any Internet connection either using a phone or computer when the message consistently shown was, "Internet may not be available". As a connection was an important requirement, and stated to be available at this hotel this was both disappointing and a considerable setback. If this had been available the rating would have been higher. Because of the "virus issues" instead of a breakfast being available a bag of items was provided and though not as promised there was little alternative under the circumstances.

Don't expect a lot from a 2 star hotel. But this one is good for the money. Beds are ok, everything is fairly clean, and the location is convenient. Breakfast is just ok, area is not noisy, parking lot looks safe, don't need to spend more money in a fancier hotel if you are just passing by. I didn't see any bugs or strange stains on the beds, pillows or sheets.

The staff is friendly and they make an effort to assist when they can.

Our room was VERY dated, with worn carpet, AC that did not work to cool the room, but just blew the fan instead, and the toilet ran and the sink dripped constantly. Oddly, the refrigerator was stacked on top of the dresser with the microwave on top of it - blocking the mirror. Furnishing are not universal, as one of our rooms had a microwave and the other did not. One had a couch and the other had a recliner and ottoman, but they were the same room types. There were VERY little places to plug in cord for charging and they were inconveniently located; none were next to the bed - one was behind the bed, but the mattress needed to be moved to get to it. Finally, the phone was not plugged in and when it was, there was no dial tone - you better bring your cell phone.

While this seems to be a high rating for a 2/3 star hotel, from our stay, it warrants 5 stars because of the price to value ratio. We are on a limited budget, and paid $64.

The room was excellent all around. Extremely clean, updated decor, comfortable bedding, bed, and pillows. It had a nice, clean mini-fridge and microwave. The air conditioning functioned very well and kept the room at a constant temperature without being noisy.

The bathroom was also very clean. The sink was new and bathtub was very clean. It had better than basic towels, and toiletries.

It was quiet. It states that there are smoking and non-smoking rooms, yet as a non-smoker who is very sensitive to smoking odor—I smelled none in the hotel.

The breakfast was basic, but adequate, especially for the price paid for the room.

We was given a late checkout with no extra charge.

It is under renovation, but the signs were not annoying or intrusive.

I would definitely stay again and recommend the hotel.

I had to come to Springfield on a business Job offer. A guy name Michael did everything in his power to help me get my credit card processing issues handled, printing out my resume. Let's just say he worked his butt off helping me. It meant so much to me and my wife. So "Thanks" to the Staff. I'll be back in Springfield next week and that's where I'll be staying.
5 stars because of the staff.

This place is a dump. I accidentally booked the wrong hotel and had to book here last minute for spring break. The photos do NOT look like it does now. Our room was not even cleaned- dust everywhere and stains on the carpet. Thankfully the sheets looked clean. They only serve breakfast until 9 apparently and when we went down to at least get coffee there was trash overflowing all over the floor. Pay the extra money to stay elsewhere!

My Husband and I enjoy staying here occasionally. The rooms are always clean, also are very spacious. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If there is an issue with room, it is handled very quickly. On this visit, Holly, at front desk was great. Lamplighter Inn is lucky to have her as an employee. We will definitely be back for another visit.

The first room we were given had a broken toilet and a TV that didn't work. They gave us another room with NO apologies and NO offer to help us move -- one of us is handicapped.

The elevator was dirty and the carpet torn and loose as you enter.

The people in the bar/lounge were the only saving grace. As was the friendly service of the lady in the breakfast room. But, don't expect a smile or friendly greeting from anyone at the front desk.

Let me start by noting that I have attempted to try to contact management multiple times so they can offer something to help me be satisfied with this hotel, but they have refused to attempt the courtesy of a response.

I checked in on 5/20, Mothers Day, and chose this over the Drury Inn, which I should NOT have. It was easy and simple to check in, the front desk attendant listened to my requests when I came in to be somewhere close to the pool and close to the breakfast area and inside hallways, as they have exterior halls as well. That was great.

When I came to my room, it went downhill. It is rundown. I had a view of another persons room out of the window. Ridiculous. The pillows were stained, my non-smoking room had smoke holes in the covers and cases. The showerhead was broken and when turned on only had one setting, pelting down on you, because you couldn't change it. There were cracks in the bathroom floor that had obviously been left unattended, and the tub was yellow and brown. Disgusting! Disappointed!

Now, the amenities. Please stay away from the pool! One of the first things that I did was go to the pool, which they say is heated, but it was freezing cold. After getting in and adjusting, I noticed there were 3 gauze bandages floating around that were red and brown WITH BLOOD. IN THE POOL.

I go back to my room and try to order dinner. There is no place that will deliver to a location this North, awful. You can choose between Cracker Barrell or Steak and Shake and the Bob Evans across the street closed down. There's also a really expensive place across the street and not within walking distance. Whatever. I finally found a place, with no help from the front desk.

Now, for breakfast. They do have more than the normal fare, like biscuits and gravy, eggs and sausage. DO NOT EAT IT PLEASE. The eggs were cold, the sausage grease congealed. I got very sick, diarrhea for days.

And then, to top it all off of that, I was ignored by the staff when trying to call to voice my complaints. If I had only paid 40$ or 50$ for this hotel, that would've been fine, but don't tell me you have wonderful amenities then fall so very short of that.

Answer from Manager
Hi, The issue came down to the strong scent of marijuana. We sent several people to the room, including myself, two house-keepers to ensure that the room did in fact smell. Unfortunately there was evidence of the drug found in the room, as well as it's scent lingering far past when you checked out. We were forced to shut the room down and provide deep cleaning before the next guest will be able to stay in this room. As per the agreement you signed at check in, we were were forced to keep the $100.00 cash deposit. Thank you and I hope that answers your question.
Answer from LamplighterNorth

Unfortunately our rooms either have Two Queen size beds or a Single King (with a Pullout Sofa). Based on the size of our rooms the maximum number of beds we can have is two and because of this we do not have any Rollaways. We are sorry if this does not meet your needs. Thank you for your question regarding our hotel! We hope that in the future we can meet your needs and look forward to the opportunity to have you stay with us!
