El Portal makes me remember the old, faded-color travel reels they used to show us in grade school. Basic motel, functional, clean, and no-frills. WiFi is good. Service is polite. While the motel is on Main street, it is not the principle road through town, so traffic noise is very minimal.

A very warm welcome with good explanations of what there was to do around and other suggestions. A really big and pleasant room. As a gateway to Death Valley, it is somewhat on the "wrong side" of the main attractions, but the hour's drive was still worth it. No breakfast though.

Our family stayed in a triple queen bedded room for one night on our way to Yosemite, and thought it was great value for money. The owners were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was a little dated but spacious and clean, though the aircon struggled to keep the large room cool. The rest of the family used the...

I had stayed here in a very old room 11 years ago. It fit my road trip and I was accommodated in a somewhat newer building last night. Brooke was very welcoming and eager to please. There was a NO VACANCY sign posted, but not many cars present. I questioned her about this; she explained the two story building is...

Very very nice owner and staff. The motel was very clean and although old decor and room, the bed was new and comfortable, linen and towels clean and fresh. TV was new For location it is perfectly fine and nice. Owners indicated upgrades are forthcoming for many of the rooms I will stay here again.

El Portal Motel is an old Motel - oldest in Beatty and the owners, Brook and her husband were so welcoming and friendly. We only stayed one night as a stop over to Death Valley - but it is a great place to use as a base to visit the Nation Park and is excellent value to money (you could...

A family owned motel that is clean and comfortable. Thought the building is older, the room I was clean and kept up very well. I enjoyed a new mattress and freshly remodeled bathroom. I am very thankful for being accommodated with my travels schedule and not having to use this big name motel down the street.

We stayed here at the end of March after visiting Death Valley. El Portal is only about a 40 min drive from the visitor center of Death Valley. Check in went very smoothly, Brooke is very warm and friendly and made us feel right at home. El Portal Motel is spread out a little bit but you can park in...
