I didn't stay here but met friends here for Thanksgiving dinner and loved the place. I actually hate we didn't book our reservations here. The buffet is awesome. Now if you don't like hustle and bustle I wouldn't recommend it, the hotel is extremely busy

Hotel's Favourite
My gal pal and I recently stayed at SouthPoint which is an awarded locals property located on the far south end of Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip). We had a brief stay at SP in the past, but this was our longest stay - 4 nights. Are you looking for a low-key casino vibe with a property that has it all? If so, then SouthPoint is definitely it! Upon check-in each registered room guest receives a FunBook which is great for dining deals. In the hotel we have had both the City/Mountain and pool room view, I would suggest the pool view. We were located on the 11th floor, and the elevators were quick and smooth. The hotel rooms are well appointed, extremely clean and well maintained. Also, in the room is a mini refrigerator, safe, ironing board, iron, hair dryer, and a Keurig machine with complimentary k-cups. For breakfast we ate at the Garden Buffet for $5.39 w/tax each with a player's card and the 50% off coupon from the funbook. Online reviews tend to be largely negative, often not stating any positives. Our visit to the Garden Buffet was on point, full spread breakfast options-bacon, sausage, hash, fruit, etc., an omelet station, and bottomless bloody mary's (which were just vodka and tomato juice, but hey, you can't beat the price!). The food options at SP are another on point feature of the property. The 24-hour Coronado Cafe has everything with an exceptional Chinese food menu and a Late Nite Specials menu from Midnight to 6 a.m. Craving Mexican food? Baja Miguels has it going on, however, it's only open Wednesday-Sunday. While at Baja Miguels, be sure to check out the Lunch Specials menu from 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., my friend and I each had an entree and margarita on the rocks for $10.78 w/tax each. We were craving crab legs and sadly due to the high market price of crab legs the Big Sur Oyster Bar was not serving the advertised crab leg special. A sign indicating such would have been appreciated at the host stand, but we had a lovely dinner nonetheless. We often parked ourselves at the many bars and played lots of bar top Keno. SP has numerous bars, with plenty of seating. And the cocktail service was on point! Our favorite was the 24/7 hour bar-Catalina Island Bar, and the 400 Bar which opens at 4 p.m. The casino vibe is that mostly of the 30+ age demographic and are respectful and courteous to all. Some hoots and hollers were heard on the casino floor which always add to the Vegas casino experience. There were a large number of Keno and Video Poker machines and the slots range from the old school 5-liners, to several of the hot new slots including Rakin' Bacon, Miss Kitty Wild Ride, Wonka Dreamers of Dreams, and Madonna. Also, the comps are easily accessible for those willing to reach out to a Casino Host at SP. During our visit in late November/early December there were sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70's, so we soaked in the resort's hot tub, which is spacious and private. It was nice to walk down to the pool area in my complimentary slippers provided in each room. The pool area was open 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and we largely had the area to ourselves during the off season. Other great features at SP are the Bingo Hall, Bowling Alley, and kids Arcade located upstairs. Need to stretch your legs? Be sure to go outside of SP and walk the perimeter of the property. Given its location in a desired residential area you can feel safe and not be hassled by street beggars or tourist sales pitches. Also, there is a gas station just across the street as well as a McDonald's and Denny's if that strikes your fancy. SouthPoint definitely caters to a more mature clientele, however the resort, customer service, and locals casino odds are worth making the trip in my opinion. I love SP, and found my new favorite casino and look forward to returning again in February and discovering more of the property.

Bed has obvious and uncomfortable divots on both sides from use. Have they ever replaced it since it opened? Nonsmoking room. Smoke and dust just everywher in the air. Not from the floor or a neighbor. Just everywhere. Elevator button didn't work. The paltry vending machines on the floor didn't work. Thin sheets and the flatest comforter I’ve ever slept with. Temperature control was fan only and it got really cold at night. With thin bedding. Food is terribly over priced though generally decently tasty. I don't think I'd ever stay here again if there wasn't a work event I had to attend. Grout on the tub shower combo is jagged and rough. Obvious that someone torn the wall soap holder out and it was put back sloppy. (I took a bad photo but I don't care enough to take another.) Gouges in the picture frame. (Same again.) How much are they charging per night for this? I will say it seems the room cleaners/housekeeping DO seem to be doing the best they can with what they have. The spa looks nice though I haven't used it. The pool is pretty, if closed. The gym does look the onto the pool and jacuzzi and it (the pool deck) is the only place I've seen any green. Too bad the jacuzzi closes at 5pm and they lock to doors so I've never been able to actually visit it. I have no opinion on how it is as a casino. If you have to stay here fine, you'll live but I can't say I found it enjoyable. Netural or meh at best with spikes of frustration and unpleasantness.

Everything you need is right in the hotel. Starbucks, ice cream shop, sushi, Mexican food, steak house, Steak n Shake, diner, theater for movies, bowling gambling of all kinds and equestrian rodeo field. It has everything you would want in one location. We stayed in room 2421 with a great view, also a very spacious room for the three of us. We were there for my father n law’s 80th. They had a suite on the 25th floor where the family met up. It was a great experience. We have stayed at South Point in the past. My only complaint is the smoking. I am not used to it, so it made my throat hurt and eyes water. Besides that it was a great experience for six nights. We also had a great view from our room.

Just got home from a great weekend at Southpoint Hotel in LV. Everything here was done first class from their warm hospitality to the cleanliness. Every meal was delicious and moderately priced. The gaming tables had $5 minimums unlike many on the strip. There’s a reason this hotel is a local favorite. The only negative we could find was the second hand smoke mentioned in other reviews. If you are sensitive to this you may wish to consider other options.

Clean comfortable room and fairly large. Bed and sheets were quality. Good price, friendly staff, good restaurants and close enough to be convenient. Plenty of parking and security so I wasn’t worried about my vehicle. Definitely will stay there again.

We just had a business stay at Conrad/Resorts World and I can honestly say that South Point is better. The room was huge, had a fridge and coffee maker. The bathroom vanity, while only having one sink, had plenty of space on each side and blessed be, the toilet was separate with a full size, non see through door. *cough* conrad, take note- privacy matters. Many restaurant choices from high end to the fancy but mid-level to food court style. Plus, a $1.50 hot dog stand towards the back of the casino. Tired of gambling? Fine! Try bowling or bingo or catch a movie. While it is on Las Vegas Blvd, it isn't in the strip section so no walking to Harrah's or The Wynn but it is a nice, straight shot north to all the strip has to offer. One negative- three pillows on a king sized bed. Just three.

With prices going crazy and very few buffets on the main strip, South Point is a reasonable alternate. Buffet had many choices, and the roast beef was great. Wish the desserts were as tasty as they looked. Ice Cream was a super alternate. Soft drinks are included in the approximately $18.00 buffet

We moved to Alberta from Ontario late last year and just got around to planning a holiday. Vegas is only a 20 hour drive from where we live and we have done Ontario to Florida before which is a similar distance so our plans were set. We have been to LV 4 times previously and the last 3 of those visits we stayed at the South Point. Decided to book it again this time, ignored all the negative reviews on TA as most of them seem to have been posted by people with no previous history on TA so they can be tossed out the window!! Arrived late on a Saturday afternoon and the place was hopping! Got checked in very quickly and asked and was given a room up on the 23rd floor facing out towards the mountains and out over the pool area. Got a double queen room that was immaculate. Beds were comfy and the room was spotless. Bathroom was a decent size with the shower and toilet separated by a door from the bathroom sink etc. My only complaint about Vegas hotels is that the tv channel selection in the room is usually atrocious, probably because they don't want you in the room watching tv !! But there were enough decent channels to keep us happy at the end of the night. When we checked in they asked us about house keeping but we just called down on the morning we wanted the room tidied up etc. and it was done. No hassle and just a quick 20 second phone call. We used the pool area quite a few days and the pool side bar service was excellent. The girls working out there were kept busy but were always friendly and by the end of the week recognised us and always had a chat. The pool area was very clean and we never had to look hard for a sun bed to relax on. Plenty of clean towels always available no matter the time of day we were down there. The hotel has 11 restaurants I believe. We used Steak and Shake a couple of times (still good), Baja Miguels on the first night (love the Margaritas along with everything else about the place!) Ate at Primarily Prime Rib on the Thursday and this is still a great place to have a decent cut of meat. No need to go on about our meals. The food was always perfect and the service superb. In our travels north and south we saw lots of signs up in restaurants and coffee shops advising they were hiring and apologising for delays etc. but it seems that the South Point is not struggling on that front. Always staff around to help etc. The one change for the better at the hotel is the addition of the Starbucks at the front entrance. If my memory serves me it used to be a Seattles Best coffee shop but Starbucks is far far better. Plenty of staff working the store and never a long wait even on the busiest of mornings. Another great part of the hotel is the Cinemark Movie Theatre. We saw 3 movies in our week at the hotel and its always great that you can just take an elevator down from your room and just walk up to the theatre. The casino was hit and miss for most of the week though on my last night I hit a handpay which was pretty nice to see. During the week we spent a couple of afternoons at the main bar playing video poker but also watching the Blue Jays baseball. The bar staff were always happy to put the game on for us and the service was quick and friendly. All in all, after 10 years away, I can happily say the South Point has improved on a model that actually didn't need improving. Previous reviews mentioned smoke as a problem but we think it was far better than 10 years ago. There was a Boot Barn conference on all week and lots of people every night kept the casino hopping but we never stunk of smoke on our clothes as we had in previous years. Will we be back? Most definitely, and hopefully not in another 10 years!!

BEDBUGS BEWARE. On our first night at their hotel, I was woken up due to severe itching all over my body. I turned on the lights in the room and almost immediately saw bedbugs on the bed. I got up and took a photo of the bedbug while my partner grabbed a glass from the bathroom to trap it. I called down to the front desk who said they will send up security. When the security officer arrived, he just looked at us and asked, “what do you want to do?” He didn’t even explain what our options were or why he was there. I filed a report with their security after I asked him what the options were. He told me I can do nothing or file a report. I asked him what filing a report would do and he said, “basically nothing but document it.” The security officer took a few presumably terrible photos because he didn’t even know how to operate the camera. We also showed him exactly where the bedbug was trapped and he took a photo of that also. He SAW the bedbug that was trapped under the glass. They then sent a bellhop to our room to give us a new room key and left, but they didn’t even offer to help us move our stuff. After a few days, the front desk followed up saying they had a company come out to inspect the room. Their findings were negative for any bugs. How is that possible with the multiple bedbug bites I woke up to on my hands, legs, shoulder, and stomach? How is that possible when we had trapped a bedbug on the bed and their security saw it? I cannot be any more dissatisfied with the level (rather lack thereof) of service from this establishment. They could care less about their guests. Never had I had any issues with bedbugs at any hotel I have stayed at. They pretty much just brushed us off as if it wasn’t a big deal. I would be very wary of this location as they don’t care about their guests.
