Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Nestled conveniently close to the Vegas Strip, the Oyo Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is favored by many for its easy access to local attractions. However, guests have called out the hotel for its lack of value, pointing to hidden fees and unexpected deposits. The amenities often fall short of expectations, with reports of unreliable elevators and additional charges. Noise disturbances are a common issue, as are the less-than-immaculate conditions of the rooms and overall atmosphere. While some staff members earn praise for their helpfulness, service quality appears inconsistent, further marred by maintenance woes and housekeeping shortfalls.

We stayed at this hotel for a week while in Vegas. It is the old Hooters hotel so they are still changing some things it appears to make it nicer but for the price it was a very good stay. The room was clean and overall a great stay. It has a Hooters and Steak and Shake in it and both were OK. They did have a WOW pass that you can buy when you check in and it is only $20 per person and it includes many show tickets (none we cared about seeing or had time to see), free unlimited drinks and snacks between 5-6 and free unlimited drinks only from 11-midnight every day of your stay. The snacks were a veggie tray and Hooters wings every night but for the price it was worth it. We were only able to go down three of the evenings since we were out the other days doing things but those three nights, we basically got dinner for free with the veggies and wings. Of course even drinking two drinks in one night makes you back the 20 bucks you paid since drinks are so expensive. So, I would say buy that pass, like I said it is a total of $20 per person and it is for the entire stay so we could go down there during those times for 7 nights for 40 dollars total for my husband and I!

Overall it was a good stay, but I don't think they should be able to advertise they are on the strip because they are not right on the strip. Don't get me wrong, they are only about a 10 minute walk and you can see the strip from the hotel but when we booked we were under the impression we literally could walk out of the entrance and onto the strip which is not the case. The location is still good but not as good as some of course. We lucked out and had a view of the strip but many would not due to the location.

You still have that wonderful resort fee of $42 per night which is crazy especially during the off season since the pools are not open so you aren't really getting much for that fee but all of them around there have it so good luck getting away from that but they do offer free parking which is rare in that area, so that at least does save you some money!

Our floor did smell like pot every day LOL but security was up there trying to figure out where it was coming from. Again, it is legal out there and it doesn't really bother me but I mean come on people, you can go right out and smoke it on the street, so just go outside instead of in your room and making me more hungry as I walk back and forth to my room!!! Again, not a huge deal, we actually found it funny that someone was dumb enough to be doing that in their room, like they aren't going to smell it when you check out???

Overall a great stay but not sure if I would stay there again. Not because of anything the hotel could do better, more due to location. We could have paid the same or just a little more to be right on the strip which would have been really the only thing that made our stay better.

Thank you for this honest feedback. We’re happy our staff was friendly and you liked our location. We apologize for the issue regarding the use of marijuana at our hotel. Although it is legal in the state of Nevada, it is ONLY legal to use in your own home. NOT in hotel rooms or outside. Security does its best to find anyone who is illegally using marijuana on our premises. We hope to see you again soon!

This was my 3rd trip to Vegas so I was not really seeking one of the larger/newer more luxury casinos (I'd previously stayed at New York/New York and Luxor) I chose OYO mostly due to its price and convenient location, right on Tropicana catty-corner from MGM Grand and only a mile from the airport. I will admit it is not the nicest or glitziest place to stay, as the property is actually over 50 years old and has gone through a number of remodels, it was most recently the Hooters casino. Upon check in, I was told my single king size room with a view of the Strip was not available but they offered a double queen with a pool view for no change in price, which I was completely fine with. I'll admit the hotel was a bit dingy and areas needed a good cleaning (the floor in the Steak N' Shake restaurant especially) or coat of new paint but if you can overlook these details, it's not too bad a place. My room was spacious enough but you could definitely tell it still had a lot of the original fixtures (the toilet did not always flush great, one of the lamps' switches did not work, the pipes rattled when you turned on the shower) which again, I could overlook. The staff was helpful and friendly; the bartender in the Underground bar was very nice, as were the ladies working in the Surfside Eatery, the little coffee shop/diner located back by the swimming pool and elevators. The Eatery is a nice place to grab a cup of coffee, light breakfast, various drinks and snacks etc. but it was only open until 2 pm and for some odd reason was not open on the day I left, a Tuesday morning. I got there on a Saturday evening but housekeeping did not make it to my room until Monday morning and by then my trash was pretty full and I needed more towels but once they did arrive, the gentleman was friendly and quick in getting fresh towels, etc. Pool area was pretty nice. There are actually two pools, a more shallow (4 feet max) one more sufficient for kids and families and a deeper adjacent pool (7 feet max) It was extremely hot when I visited (110 F highs during the day even the locals were complaining about) so although the water was not initially all that cooling when you first got it, once I sat out to dry off then got back in a bit later, the water felt quite good. Plenty of deck chairs and towels were available and there is sufficient shade to avoid the crazy hot sun. There is also an adjacent poolside bar which I did not partake of. There a few good perks to the place, including free guest parking and it was only $5 to play all table games, which delighted the male friend I was with and he did pretty good at the blackjack and roulette tables. Overall I would recommend this not for Vegas first-timers but rather for someone who has been to Vegas before and just wants a decent, cheap place to stay that is also very conveniently located between the Strip and airport.

I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to write here that I haven't already said elsewhere in this survey. Disappointing not being able to go to the restaurants that were closed due to covid, but that's not what I'm faulting the hotel for. I was disappointed in the limited menu options at the restaurants that where open. I wanted a milk shake, but they were not served. No breakfast options either. Also, there were no smoking areas in the pool area. The only place to smoke was in the parking garage or in the casino. Another confusing part of my stay was the ashtray on the table in the hotel room. If my son had not noticed the no smoking placard on the side table, I may have lit one up in the room not knowing it was a non smoking room. Lastly, for at least 36 hours, the ice makers on every floor except the 4th was out of order. I broke my back window on the low hanging cement wall in the parking garage too. There were used towels left in the hotel room closet upon first entering the room.

Met family in Vegas and chose Oyo for location and price.,
Pleasantly surprised. A wonderful host name, Savannah filled us in on the hotel, and gave us casino play in food deals.
After horrible start on the tables, I made a turnaround and came out a little ahead. Wife did great at the slots.
Suzanne at the cage was great and George my pit boss was a season veteran and as pleasant as can be.
Checking out we got helped by Gloria.
What a really good stay and we most certainly recommend and will be back. Thank you!

I'm writing this review on Monday, the day after my trip. I'm feeling more exhausted and stressed than I was feeling before I went on vacation.

The first night was fine, but everything went downhill fast afterwards. On my 2nd day, I left the hotel around 10 AM and returned around 4 PM to find that my room still hadn't been cleaned. I saw the cleaning staff had their cart parked at the room next to mine, so I went down for a drink and came up around 2-3 hours later to find that my room had been skipped over entirely.

Already annoyed and tired, I decide to get some rest. I'm not unreasonable. I realize Vegas will be loud and noisy with the sound of cars driving by, people yelling and laughing, and music playing. What I didn't expect was housekeeping to come back and vacuum at 11 PM at night at the room next to me. They were slamming cabinets shut, opening and closing the door, clinking around the sink. I hadn't realized how thin the walls were until then.

I called front desk and was on hold for 10 minutes and the person who answered said he couldn't stop them. Fine, you can't stop them now, but shouldn't you just make a general policy that cleaning shouldn't be done after a certain hour? He said he could "maybe try to refund my resort fee". I came down the next morning to see if this was done and the person said there were no notes of my conversation or complaint. The best she could offer me was a 10 dollar food credit. Do you think my time is worth 10 dollars? The time I spent not resting or sleeping could pay the whole trip.

I felt dismissed, but whatever, I took the credit. Tried to use it and they had to call management to confirm it because they had failed to update the reservation correctly to reflect that I was the new primary guest, which was communicated months ago, then the night before the reservation.

This is just the experience part.

I ran a shower and had to take a quick call before I hopped in. I left the water running for a few minutes and I came back to see the tub was filling up....without the stopper. That could only mean that the plumbing of the tub is so clogged that it could hold the water at the rate it flowed. Gross. I had no heat and i didn't realize it's because my unit was unplugged the entire time. I couldn't even plug it in because it couldn't reach the outlet without an extension.

Hotel is old looking. Upon 1st trip to registration I was told if you check in before 2:30 thats early check in you get charge $20. I went to tell my husband who was checking out something else. When we both arrived at registration there was another person her attitude was not one for customer service. At this time it was after 2:30 and she told us there was an early check in fee if you check in before 4 we told her that wasn't what we were told, she said that was the rules, even though 2 other people had told us something different. We were also told if your room smells of smoke you will be charged for smoking as it is a non smoking room. We asked for lowest floor possible. We get to room not only does it smell of smoke the bathroom is dirty. and it is on the 10th floor. I call down to front desk to state complaints and request a room change. Luckily, I spoke with a different person who was very pleasant room was switched and see gave us a room on the 2nd floor mind you we had just left front desk about 5 minutes before when we were given 10th floor. New room didn't smell but bottom of tub was dirty, so laid a towel in it to act as a bathmat. We also bought a package for $20 for an all inclusive drink and food at a THE BAR happy hour. It was literally 1 hr from 5 to 6pm. They do not tell you that the drink selection is bottom shelf and the food is broccoli and cauliflower with some chicken nuggets. We will never stay there again. I can say upside beds were super comfortable and hotel is right off the strip.

This weekend I had the displeasure of staying at the OYO, while i traveled to Las Vegas to attend a weeding. I booked a standard double queen bed and was placed in the "Bay view" zone and checked in early. Because I was so excited to be in Sin city and I was hungry due to the time change, I dropped my bags off at my room, and headed out to the strip. When I came back to my room , i noticed my BATHROOM WAS DIRTY. there was hair all over the walls and in the bathtub. As I headed out to meet with my family, I stopped by the front desk to notify them of the issue, and they assured me the room would be cleaned when i came back. When I came back around 2 am, the bathroom was still dirty and I was too uncomfortable to shower. The next morning, I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager who wasnt in yet and requested my room be cleaned. I went back to my room and waited for someone to come. No one came. I had a wedding to go to so i packed my clothing and arranged ridesharing to where my family was staying so that I could shower. Before I left, I again asked that the room be cleaned and I kindly asked for a partial refund for my inconvenience. The staff at the desk offered a $25 food voucher. With me in a dirty room, I was leery of eating at their establishments and requested that the manager give me a call. The manager did call when he got in and offered $50 off my resort fees (about 1 day of fees) and promised that the room would be clean. That was around 1:30 PM. When I returned for the night, from the wedding, the reception, and the celebrating around 3 AM . . The bathroom STILL was not clean. The hair was still on the walls and in the tub. I checked out the next morning. I would not recommend this place to anyone .

Outside of the bathroom issue, each room looks like a motel. I know i was not staying at the Aria with my family but Sheesh! There was a hole in my wall. and i didnt even get chairs that are supposed to come with the tables in each room

Please note, the steak n Shake located in the building is permanently closed, and the Hooters usually has an 1-2 hour waitlist. No taxis drive by here so be prepared to walk to Las vegas Blvd, drive yourself or call ridesharing

On check in, Tom was kind enough to move us up from the 4th floor to the 15th and to the end of the hall. That was nice.
In the room, there was no bath soap, the shower gel dispenser was empty, there were no hangers, the safe didn't work and bathroom vent was caked in dust.
Called the front desk and someone brought us some wire hangers and bath soap. The answer to the shower gel dispenser being empty was to remove the whole dispenser. Engineering came on the second day and cleaned the vent. Security came up and I found out there is an on/off switch on the inside of the safe door. Security turned it on. I wish they would have told me that over the phone. I could have done that myself.
In the hallway there was something on the carpet that may have been puke or maybe something like Ranch Dressing. It was there the whole weekend.
The hotel staff was nice and courteous and responsive. They did refund my resort fee although I didn't ask for anything.
I have stayed in worse places. With the prices we are paying for the room, I expect it to be clean and ready for me.
With so many properties to choose from in Vegas, we probably won't be staying here again.

My stay at this hotel was so disappointing. All the staff at the front desk were everything except polite and welcoming. As I was checking in, Esmerelda treated me like she was doing ME a favour by allowing me to check into the hotel. She rambled so quickly that several times I had to ask her to repeat herself which of course annoyed her greatly. We had quite a bit of trouble with the hvac unit in our room - it was never addressed.

We were suppose to be given vouchers for breakfast but that didn't happen. When we asked about it we were told to charge breakfast (up to $25/person) to our room and it would be reversed upon check out. I was unsure about that so I made a special trip to the front desk and asked for the vouchers. Boy am I glad - turns out we were only allowed only one specific breakfast + a drink which was substantially less than $25/person. Speaking of breakfast, the staff at the Steak & Shake were very much lacking in service and attitude. Our breakfast was cold both mornings and, the second morning, we each received 1.5 pieces of bacon each instead of 3. After inquiring, we did receive the rest of our bacon, but it was served as cold as the server's attitude.

We decided that we weren't going to let their bad attitude dampen our spirits so we headed out and had 3 fantastic days seeing the sights!

This stay was absolutely atrocious. I was highly disappointed at the condition of the guest room main living area and bathroom as well as the issues that existed in the corridor.

The vending area was experiencing a leak and to remedy it hand towels were placed on the floor to absorb the liquid but these towels should be replaced to avoid odors associated with stagnant water. This was not done. Guest room HVAC unit was missing the cover, called reception to report it and was told help was on the way. From Friday 11/27 until checkout 12/1 the HVAC remained bare and no one ever came to address it. Carpeting was dusty and provided appearance the vacuuming is not a regular practice. Guest room was dusty all over the counters, dressers, table and all fixtures. Bathroom tub had grime and grit in the basin and soap scum all over fixtures, bathroom tile did not appear as it was mopped and not 1 housekeeping visit resulted in a mop being used which lends to the idea that mopping is not a frequent occurrence. Bathroom sink was backed up so couldn’t even run water to brush teeth without sink filling quickly and overflowing. Bathtub was used for many daily activities completed at the sink. What broke the camels back for me was the 10 times I had to go to reception to have the guest room keys, re-keyed, to gain access. The locking mechanism on the door was faulty and required a battery replacement which also did not occur during my stay.

I would never book a stay with OYO Hotel & Casino and would caution anyone else to stay far far away!!!

Worst experience ever for hotel accommodations!
