I am so happy I found this gem when looking for a place to stay while visiting family in Lebanon, New Hampshire. The Shaker Farm Bed and Breakfast is rustic and cozy, beautifully located in Enfield, NH near Lake Mascoma. The rooms are clean and spacious – perfect for relaxing after of day of exploring the area. Joe and Cathy are welcoming, gracious hosts. Joe was quick to answer my inquiries prior to our arrival, which was much appreciated. Cathy’s breakfasts were delicious and plentiful! My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend, and we can’t say enough about this lovely inn!

This 200 year old house is a quarter hour drive from Dartmouth. Nancy the owner lets out 3 spacious rooms. I’ve never slept better. Her breakfasts are fantastic. Very good value. She and her two dogs make you feel right at home.

We stayed here for a getaway weekend. Joe and Cathy are excellent and gracious hosts. We had lovely chats with them both, and Cathy filled us in on some local spots of interest we would have otherwise missed. Our breakfasts were yummy, and 'treats' were always available. The room we had in this 1800's farmhouse was spotless and comfortable. The house is tastefully decorated and an amazing amount of renovation has brought this home back to its roots while keeping up with modern day amenities. We will absolutely return! Sheila and Dan

I love this B&B. The owners are a delight, the rooms clean and quaint. It is an authentic New England Farmhouse B&B. The food was most enjoyable and plentiful. The hostess goes out of her way to make sure everything is just right. All the food is fresh some from her own garden, which she takes delight in maintaining. If you are in the area I highly recommend staying at this typical New England B&B.

Just down the road from the Shaker Museum, the Shaker Farm B&B is a classic New England farmhouse that has retained all its charm. Breakfasts are to die for! Would return anytime. (Warning: stairs to upper floors are steep & narrow, but if you don’t have a problem navigating the climb, the rooms on the 2nd & 3rd floors are well worth it).

First, let me say that I really don't like B&B's... But this one was different; I actually enjoyed it and found it a bit of a romantic interlude in our trip. It is historically significant, as the property was once the sight of a Shaker settlement. The house is old, old, old, but loving restored and highly functioning. The attention to detail is obvious. The hostess is a font of knowledge about the area, and can recommend things to do that are fitting for you. She keeps the place impeccably clean, and the grounds simply lovely. She even uses the fruits of her own garden to feed you! (This includes the flowers - which are delicious!) She makes trips to the local farmers market to find the rest of what she needs, so the food tastes incredibly fresh - and you know what - it makes a big difference. I don't think a lot of us really know what a fresh egg tastes like. And feed you she does! The breakfast is a gourmet treat every morning! We had three breakfasts there and each was a delight. Breakfast is at 8:30, and is served in the dining room at a central table. The hostess plates all the breakfasts to your specification; this is not a "family style" serving. It is a good opportunity to chat with the other guests who all seem to have interesting stories to tell. Coffee is usually available by around 7:30 to take up to your room. She makes a delicious fair trade blend which is excellent. The rooms are comfortably furnished with historical pieces. The beds are good by B&B standards. If you are in need of something the hostess will find it for you in a hurry. There are two dogs which are a happy tail-wagging twosome - Gertie and Bo, So pretty they have been in calendars! If you are in the area, this place is worth a stay for a couple of days. Good location, yet quiet and off the beaten path.

We were pleased with our choice of lodging near Enfield, NH. Kathy and Joe were gracious hosts for our 2-night stay. The breakfasts were delicious and we enjoyed sitting on the back deck in the late afternoon on both days. Occasional rain didn't matter as the deck was partially covered by a cabana-style enclosure. Our room was comfortable, too. This location enabled us to travel a large driving loop on the full day of our visit.

A very old home with heavy beam ceilings near Mascoma Lake. The hosts were lovely! And we met the most interesting guests and lingered over our delicious, artful breakfasts. We were there to enjoy the area, and found the inn so conveniently located. Our hostess had enthusiasm and information for Enfield and enviorons. Much to do and see! Our room on the first floor was pretty, but almost filled by the queen sized bed, and the bathroom was also crowded--one small sink and a metal shower--not much space to put your things. We were surprised to find an apartment building behind the house. The gardens are beautfiul and we had such a good time. We would definitely return again.

Response from Joe G, Owner at Shaker Farm Bed and Breakfast
Responded 5 Aug 2018
Thank you for your kind remarks. The room is small for the KING size bed but most of our guest request King beds so we squeezed it in the room and have the guest use the den outside the bedroom for their sitting area. The bathrooms are small because of the layout of old farm houses two hundred years ago. The apartment building behind the B&B was the Barn to the farm house and the previous owner converted it to apartments. It is hard to get use to smaller guest rooms and limited space, if you are accustom to staying in hotel rooms. We do the best we can with what we had to work with and hope you will come back and visit again.
