The Inn looks interesting to stay at but we were just there for the murder mystery dinner with a group of 12 celebrating a birthday. The play was enjoyable but ran about a half an hour "too long". The meal was apps, salad, mac & cheese (I didn't eat any), a piece of beef that was relatively tough, a chicken...

We always enjoy dining at this old historical Governor's Inn, with upstairs hotel rooms designed with beautiful old Victorian style decor, main lobby is their quaint dining room with fireplace, the menu has a nice variety, excellent food, there is a small pub, and additional large dining area for private parties.

We stayed at the Governor's because it was walking distance to the Rochester Opera House. Staff were very nice. The restaurant was very convenient and very busy. They also host murder mystery dinners there so parking was very limited. Our room was dated but clean. I booked the deluxe queen room with a fireplace. Unfortunately the fireplace was boarded up...

My son started classes at a local community college that did not offer housing. He needed a place to stay long term, coming home on weekends. The Governor's Inn was able to accommodate him Sunday night thru Thursday. He stayed in the Rolland House and was provided a full kitchen along with his private room. When his classes cut back...

I was in town for business and stayed here for a week. It was a very good stay. I felt very welcomed, the overall property is nice, and I thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. The only thing that was unimpressive was the room. It was very dated and small, and the shower set up was quite strange. The room was clean,...

Thank you so much for your feedback. We appreciate your comments and are so glad you had a very good stay and enjoyed our restaurant. You stayed in our smallest room and since your comment have decided to improve update that room, in fact we began today ordering a new bed, new furniture and art and also found a solution...

My husband and I booked a room with a queen size bed this past weekend, but what we got was a full size bed in a shoddy room on the third floor. The uncomfortable mattress caved in the middle and needed to be replaced years ago. Outside of the room was a folding bed that should have been put away,...

Hello and thank you for your comments. We are always interested to get input, both positive and negative so that we can better our offerings. We regret that the room you staying in was less than comfortable. We feature 20 rooms here, most of which are large, over-sized and luxurious. The third floor room that you staying in is in...

After more than 60 years of home cooked thanksgiving meals, we decided to try eating out on this family holiday. We wanted to avoid a buffet and have a plated meal. The seacoast of NH has numerous restaurants but only few are open thanksgiving day. We emailed the Governors and received a prompt and helpful response for their prix fixe...

An amazing building. Staff friendly, great breakfast. I know its a period property but the shower was also period ie shower over claw foot bath. I prefer a modern shower but I guess I should have expected this. The staircase is magnificent and there is the Garage next door which we found friendly and served nice beers.

The Steak and Ale restaurant at Governs Inn is great. It has become our place to go when we want a good (special) meal. I recommend this restaurant. On weekends they have prime rib which is very good.

Looking for something near Boston because we were coming from Maine and had to be at the airport by mid-morning, we decided to book a room at the inn. Rochester was about 90 minutes from the airport and seemed like a sleepy, quaint town, so we decided this was a good choice. The inn is located near the center of...
