There price we received was perfect for the rooms we were given. The staff of this hotel was very accommodating with all of our demands (and we had many). They provided exactly what we needed. I recommend the meal plan, it will save you a ton of money.

We loved the vibe of the Chalfonte, and had a very romantic getaway. It is very centrally located to walk everywhere yet very quiet. Nothing beat sitting on the amazing porch in rockers with a lemonade or cocktail and an ocean breeze. The breakfast buffet in the dining room was abundant & delicious every morning, and the King Eddie Bar...

A historic hotel which is actually bare bones. That is how I would describe this venue. There is no TV, no clock , radio or a phone. Unless you have a mobile, there is no way to connect to the front desk if there is an emergency. We had an incident and got locked in our room. The chain lock...

Miss Divine, Thank you for your feedback. The Front Desk is staffed beginning at 7 am. As the attendant who answered your call, I responded immediately to your concerns. We certainly do have bolt/wire cutters on premise. We also have routine maintenance checks on all of the rooms (as well as a state of the art alarm system and fire...

Chalfonte markets themselves as a historic boutique hotel. Do not be deceived! 1. Reservations- this was the only highlight. I spoke with two different women to book and confirm my room. Both were extremely courteous and helpful. They guided me to the room which would fit my needs without trying to sell me the hugest package. 2. Arrival- we arrived...

I have been coming to Cape May for 15 years for my summer vacations. This was the first time staying at the Chalfonte, and it was definitely my last. Part of the charm of Cape May is the history, but the old-fashioned rooms in this hotel were not charming at all. There is no way for a guest to alter...

Hi Jennifer, We are disappointed to hear your concerns regarding your recent stay. We will address these issues with our staff. The hotel does have a central air system. We try to accommodate all of our guests requests by offering an additional fan or room switch if possible. The style of bathroom is a European bath; it is a private...

Historic hotel. Just right l for those who like an old fashioned setting but don't require luxury. Food adequate. $36 set price dinner (does not include desert) served by friendly young staff. Nice that this 1876 hotel is still operating.

We were charmed by the great porch and the gentle breezes. We went for the fixed price menu, which is a no brainer. Three out of four of us started with the shrimp and grits. Shrimp was fine, grits were reminiscent of sawdust. The fourth got the oysters, which were good. Looking forward to the famous fried chicken, three out...

We did not stay at the hotel. We were on a tour and our tour bus mentioned the fried chicken at this place so we had to try it. We were pleased with our meal. Even offered a small kids menu. Thought a glass of wine was priced great as well - none of this $12 for 3 ounces kind...

Bought tickets for the Civil War talk and dinner at the ticket kiosk at the Washington Street Mall. It was highly recommended by the folks at the kiosk. The historical accounts shared by "Bob", who identified himself as one of the owners of the Chalfonte, was very interesting and engaging. However the meal was very disappointing. Waiters and waitresses were...

We looked at several place in Cape May as we arrived without a reservation. We are eccentric in that plastic-y motel room style really doesn't do it, and decided to stay at the Chalfonte. We had a reasonable rate, negotiated on the spot, otherwise it might seem a little pricey for an old hotel. The bed and bathroom, shower, were...
