Grand Cascades Lodge earns praise for its resort-like atmosphere and luxury ski lodge feel, complemented by modern amenities, although there are mentions of some dated aspects. The hotel's cleanliness receives accolades, with guests highlighting the pristine conditions of the rooms and renovated areas. While the amenities are popular for being family-friendly, concerns over crowding and availability have been noted.
The spacious rooms have drawn criticism for uncomfortable beds and a lack of storage, despite recent updates. Service reviews are mixed, with some guests encountering subpar staff, while others commend the attentive service. However, the value proposition is questioned by many, who cite high costs and additional fees as drawbacks.

Detailed Reviews
We spent 5 days at Grand Cascades with our extended family of 5 adults,3 kids, booking two adjoining rooms, a suite with a kitchen and king bed, and an adjoining room with two double queen beds. The resort is beautiful, the grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the rooms were equally beautiful, and nicely laid out. The hotel was recently renovated, and the attention to detail is obvious, both inside and outside. Everything is super clean, the kitchen was well stocked with what you would expect in a kitchen, no microwave though. The staff was pleasant, helpful and our overall experience was excellent. Both pools provide unique experiences, and we did several of the events, including the archery for a fee. We found the hotel very attentive to Covid concerns, everyone was wearing masks when necessary, and the hotel minimize room cleaning service as you would expect, but any need can be provided by the front desk. The only downside was I lost my wedding band in the vortex pool, it slipped off while i was having fun with the kids. Fingers crossed that it is found by the pool operator. Great resort, dining is possible both within our outside, since there is no inside dining in NJ, we would order food to go and eat in our room or out on the lodge patio. A great experience and we would highly recommend. There is plenty to do both on the resort and off, particularly if you like outdoors activities. The Applachian trail is close by for a short or long hike, we did several, the Applachian Boardwalk is stroller friendly and not to long. We spent lots of time on the lodge patio which overlooks the mountains, and the golf courses. The biosphere is a great place to hang out both day and night, cleaned every 3 hours (they shut down for about 15 minutes), and beautifully designed and landscaped. To sum up, beautiful place, plenty to do for all, and it hits all the points for an excellent resort experience.

My husband and I wanted a quick 2 night getaway that was no more than 2 hours from our NJ home. Check in was quick and we parked in the underground parking garage. We booked a studio room and it was on the 5th floor. The room was spacious with high ceilings, a full kitchen(no microwave) The kitchen was well equipped with dishes, pots, pans, bottle opener, coffee maker, tea kettle, paper towels. There is also a washer and dryer. The living room had a couch, tv, and double sided fireplace that separated the living room from the bedroom. The spacious bathroom had a tub/shower combo and very strong water pressure. Shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, and soap are provided. We chose to eat dinner the first night at the hotel restaurant, The Crystal Tavern. A reservation is strongly suggested since this was the only restaurant that serves dinner mid-week. I will caution you that the menu is very small. The food and cocktails were very good. The service is a little slow but I think that it’s that they do not want you to feel rushed. If you are in a hurry, speak up. We also had breakfast at the same restaurant. They were giving $30 vouchers towards breakfast. I wish that I had ordered a Bloody Mary- the one at the next table looked delicious. The indoor pool is heated and has a water slide. There is also a small outdoor heated pool. There is also a cafe that sells gelato and some grab and go salads among other things. We decided to sample some local food in Sussex, NJ (6 miles away) at the Early American Tavern. The is a rustic restaurant built in the 1800’s. The menu is huge with a lot of comfort favorites. It’s noisy and laid back enough for children. I would eat here every week if I could. Service and food were a 10. In closing, the employees at Grand Cascades Lodge were constantly cleaning, as a health care professional this means a lot. I look forward to returning again- the hotel exceeded my expectations.

Hubby and I decided to stay here for father's day weekend. We were very paranoid since it was our first local vaca during a pandemic, but let me tell you, it was phenomenal ! Crystal resort stepped up their game. The rooms are newly renovated, the food is outstanding, the chefs will accommodate your every need and most importantly they are strictly following COVID19 protocols. We felt very safe. You have to wear a mask in most common areas, they have signs everywhere , every corner is marked 6ft apart and all housekeeping services are done meticulously and safely. Golf courses are beautiful, amenities and activities were great for a soft opening. I didn't want anyone cleaning my room after the first day (decrease contact), so the housekeepers came by and were so attentive they picked up the garbage and gave me clean linens for the rest of our stay. The concierge desk were amazing , they went above and beyond to make our stay special. Thanks darlin and the manager! A way away from home.

My boyfriend and I just spent the weekend here before Christmas. We were looking for a romantic, magical Christmas weekend away after last year having a similar trip in the Poconos that we loved. We visited the Minerals location last year during February and enjoyed it but overall we were pretty disappointed with Grand Cascades. While some of the staff were extremely friendly & helpful, others couldn’t be bothered to even greet us before taking a food order. The Spring Bistro was extremely overpriced and the Crystal Tavern was mediocre. The room itself was large and decent, BUT the heater was directly next to the bed blowing hot air in my face all night causing me to be very congested and uncomfortable. The biosphere pool was nice, but a bit murky and dirty. We went to experience their “Christmas Corner” which was about the only Christmas thing they had there, which was only open from 5:30-8pm. The live nativity was cool, but you have to pay for everything else such as making s’mores or decorating a mini Christmas tree. There isn’t anything else to do at this resort so after spending an hour there, we went to a magic show at Minerals which was really good but again - not much activity happening at either of these locations other than to sit at the bar all night. Overall, we felt this hotel was way too overpriced for what they have/offer and we will not be returning. If you’re looking for a winter weekend getaway, I highly recommend Skytop Lodge in the Poconos!

michellemaries90, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I would like to apologize for any inconveniences that occurred during your stay. We take such pride in our holiday activities. The Christmas Corner consisted of a complimentary horse and buggy ride to the area itself, live nativity, and marshmallow roasting. We do not advertise that s'mores and drinks are included. This information was located on our website. We do also have all the festive decor located all around the property along with a the Winter Workshop located at the Minerals Hotel where our complimentary shuttle can take you. Thank you again for staying with us. Warm Regards, Nicole Sisco

The hotel around breath taking mountains. The trees this time of year are beautiful in their array of oranges and yellows. The atmosphere was so calming especially now. We had a suite with a outdoor fireplace. The room has everything we needed including dishes and dishwasher which was very nice since we got take out from the Crystal Tavern during our stay. The room service was very easy to order and the food was delicious! I will admit that I was disappointed our room was so close to the pool and out door area. I wanted to relax and enjoy my privacy. We didn’t really use the outdoor space as a result though it was nice. I will say that the nightly entertainment was lovely. We listened to the singers both nights from our room. I did love that especially with social distancing. There were some issues with the shower that we let the front desk know about. It leaked all over the floor. Fine for us. Luckily there was a washer and dryer in the room and we threw the towels from The floor in the dryer to dry them. But probably needs to be fixed. The dining took long in both restaurants and I was sad we sat to have missed out on the views at the Crystal Tavern and at the Spring Bistro the music outside was so loud. The food was good though. The hike on the Appalachian trail was very relaxing. My favorite part. Thank you to the concierge for recommending it! Can’t wait to do it again. Overall, we loved it. The room was clean and very spacious. It was so nice to relax and excited to try the spa next time!

Went for a girl’s weekend. The safe was broken and had to call down to have it fixes. We boomed a 2 bedroom suite for 4 people and the fuse blew while 2 of us were blow drying our hair. Again, called diwn for maintenance. We booked dinner at Kites Grill which seems like it’s on the property on the website but the front desk said we need a shuttle as it’s 19 mins away. Shuttle comes and drops us off at ski lodge? We were all decked out schlepping thru a ski lodge as she said the “restaurant was upstairs”. It was a lodge cafeteria. U cud imagine the looks we were getting. We finally get the shuttle to come back for us 1/2 hour later while they are mopping around our feet as they were closing. When we get back to hotel we ate at a grille that they kept open for us. Management offered us a glass of prosecco on them for our trouble. Really? A glass of prosecco? The spa is so busy and bustling. Nothing serene about it. ( my masseuse was great). Security. And to our suite after our 11pm dinner to say they got a noise complaint. We are 4 mature woman, not frat boys. They suggested if we wanted to continue our gathering we cud go down to the bar. Paid ALOT for the suite so we cud catch up and laugh and be together. Room was not made up until 4pm the next day. Best, best part of our stay was the entire staff at LeTour restaurant. Big shout out it Erika and the lovely woman who was our sommelier and Lance from the grille. I spoke to a manager and another staff member who said they wud look into everything but needless to say, a glass of Prosecco was their only compensation for one hassle after another. I had so many people ask me to bring them brochures and to let them know how it was but aside from the fabulous staff at LaTour and Lance.....wud not recommend

397booberry, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I would like to apologize for any confusion with the shuttle. The Kites restaurant is located at the Minerals Hotel which is 3.2 miles away. I am not sure where 19 minutes came from. Since our properties are so close to Mountain Creek our shuttles also drop guests off there. The bus driver does not know where each guest is going so it should be specified when you do get on the bus. In the state of NJ sound ordinance is enforced from 10:00pm-7:00am. I apologize that this was your experience. Thank you again for staying with us. Warm Regards, Nicole Sisco

Hi everyone, I want to share my experience at the grand cascades lodge after staying 3 nights. We got 2 connecting rooms with a balcony and a mountain view to die for. First of all, we were blown away by the renovations they did. (Stayed here in December 2019, so we know how it was prior to renovations). Out with the older furniture and in with the modern sleek furniture. Just gorgeous. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast (vast array of healthy food). We couldn’t get enough of the biosphere pool (huge water slide), vista 180 with gorgeous Mountain Views and whirlpool for kids) and the heated pool. We also went golfing and rented golfing carts ($35 pp). The golf courts are impeccable. Beautiful scenery and we were surprised that the carts could climb mountains with ease! They also have a FREE golfing course right outside the hotel. Did I mention free marshmallow roasting?!?! Staff is very attentive; there are clear signs to keep 6” distance, rules on elevator occupancy, instructions for masks to be worn any time you’re in the lobby or hallways (covid-19). All in all, we really enjoyed our time here at GC. We had an issue with our dishwasher, we called for service, and I kid you not: the tech arrived in 10 minutes and fixed the issue. I want to thank Nicole Sisco and the staff at Grand Cascades for providing excellent customer service prior and during our stay. This is one memory that will last, I’ll tell you that.

Our three generation family stayed at the Lodge for 3 nights in two adjacent suites with bucolic views and great sunsets. The Lodge is well maintained and very careful about COVID restrictions. Masks required and lots of precautions and protections. We felt very safe from the virus. The pools are amazing, indoor/outdoor heated pool usable in all weather and several outdoor pools with water slides. We are not golfers but that didn't matter since there was so much to do besides golf. Because there was no indoor dining allowed until our last day there, we ate outdoors or brought food back to the room. Make dining reservations well ahead. We had to eat in one restaurant twice since the other restaurant was booked. There are plenty of casual choices for food by the pools and a great snack bar with delicious gelato. The staff was absolutely exceptional everywhere. Friendly, welcoming, accommodating, responsive. The suite was amazing with a full kitchen including dish ware, pots and pans but surprisingly no microwave but we definitely used the washer and dryer multiple times. If you like to use body wash bring your own. They supply shampoo, conditioner and soap. Bring bug spray for flies and yellow jacket bees. The continental breakfast was sufficient with yogurt, berries, cereal and lots of pastries and pound cakes. We ate the tavern breakfast once. It was served by staff due to COVID rather than buffet. It was fine with scrambled eggs, french toast, home fries, bacon, sausage, lox, cream cheese, bagels but no fruit or berries. We will definitely go back.

This place is bad all around beginning with management, then customer service, then front desk, then food services. I was charged for food that I had a voucher for a month later on my credit card. Btw the food I received consisted of raw chicken & soggy greasy fries. When calling to address my uncontested credit card charge. I was greeted with I was wrong we didnt charge you card , unprofessionalism very rude manager caroline who refused to look into the situation & hung up on me. When I tried to call back for assistance from front desk & management I was left on hold & refused help. Days later I was left a message that I indeed was charged & billed incorrectly. This place is run very unprofessionally & staff are very rude & not knowledgeable about anything that they should be. I read prior reviews regarding the bad service at this resort & was warned about them charging people's credit cards after there stay. Be aware, do not use your debit card there. They will find some bogus way to charge it overcharge your card. They even tried to force me to do events that I didnt even sign up for in order to charge my card. You have to stay on top of them & what there charging you for. It's almost like a scam. Good luck trying to get assistance from management if you have any if these issues. Room was ok but found 3 small bugs crawling on my bed, old stained sheets, hair. Luckily I had brought my own disinfected wipes & spray had to clean things myself. Also orderd take out. Resort food is hideous. Breakfast was burnt microwaved bacon disgusting.

Though initially hesitant to book a vacation during the pandemic, I decided to take the risk and was absolutely impressed with the measures taken by the staff of Grand Cascades to ensure my safety. Social distancing guidelines are posted through out the building, every staff member and most guests were observed wearing masks at all times, activity in the pools were well monitored and managed. Though some amenities were limited (spa, restaurant availability, sauna and jacuzzi), their thoughtful scheduling created access to everything I wished to do. The house keeping staff was incredible - I honestly felt that every time I turned around someone was cleaning and disinfecting something. Having been here before, I’ve always been impressed with the quality of service, range of activities, and beauty of the place. My respect and appreciation of the staff and management of Grand Cascades has increased ten fold having witnessed the way in which they have re-opened and ensured my safety and comfort, and I look forward to many happy returns.
