Very comfortable, all you need in the "Bush" and more. Apart from tv as distraction, you have to enjoy nature and communicate with your lips and not throgh social media! No WhatsApp or Facebook!!!! The stars are bright at night!

The rest camp was beautifully done and the veranda was a great spot to sit and listen to the birds and to relax. However, the safari drive at the main camp was a big disappointment because no elephants were even spotted! We believe the game ranger was looking for the lions that had made a kill the night before and...

We stayed at Cabin 8 in the Matyholweni (which means “in the bush” in Xhosa) Rest Camp in October 2016. The cabin was very basic but cleaned and spacious for two people. Towels and linens were decent and comfortable for a bush camp. Bed linens and comforter were white (not the burgundy red that you see in the tripadvisor picture)....

We stayed in the family chalet (no.13) for 4 nights. Chalet has all the modern day comforts like aircon, DSTV , all kitchen facilities. It's very peaceful with a lot of bird life and of course the morning visitors - the monkeys.. one thing I was not aware of is that there is zero cell phone reception which was a...

This place is everything you would expect form a rest camp. Spiders, mosquitos, vervet monkeys stealing your fruit. No cell phone reception. All of which make it the perfect base for great trips in the park. The cottages are really adequately equipped and perfectly comfortable without detracting from the ambience of the bush. There is no luxury - just rustic...

Situated very close to the south gate of the park, the camp, managed by SAN Parks, is a very good solution if you want to stay in Addo. The cottage, with thatched roof, was clean, very spacious and offered a kitchen area and a big double bed. The terrace was simply amazing and was visited by monkeys (remember to always...

We were in the family cottage and everything was perfect with the exception of the poor quality of the sleeper couch. It was very dilapidated and had to be padded up with blankets to make it level. Besides this the setting was lovely and peaceful and the braai facilities were perfect. We will definitely go back there again. The early...

We stayed in 4 cottages (12 people) and we simply loved the place. The couch is supposed to sleep an extra adult but if you go with two kids under 10 they fit both. Bed was very confortable and the place is cleaned up quite well. I recommend doing a BBQ at least one of the nights. There is a...

We spent 2 nights at Matyholweni chalets and found them to be basic but comfortable. The Matyholweni site is situated at the bottom of the park, so it is quite far from the main entrance (although you can enter from the Matyholweni gate - it's advisable!) - the chalets are clean, basic and functional - all necessary utensils are there....

We were exactly where we wanted to be. Smack-bang in the middle of the bush. It was peaceful, it was wonderful. Everything was perfect except for the bed and the sleeper couch. The bed's mattress was so old, the dent was there before you sat on it and when you stood up, it was like looking into the Kimberley hole...

“Stock up with your own food and drinks before heading for the Addo Elephant National Park - Matyholweni has no restaurant or shop. There is a supermarket relatively close if you have forgotten anything. Don't bother with breakfast or lunch at the restaurant at the main gate - rather have a picnic at Jack's in the middle of the park.”
