I hadn't been to Thendele for about 20 years and after spending the weekend there I am blown away about how wonderful the place still is. Highlights: - The view is spectacular, I doubt where many other camps in the world can match it - I have always loved the hiking trails in the RNNP and they are still lovely...

This was my third trip to Thendele - and each time I ask why I don't go more often. The views from the Upper Camp (right hand side of the road) overlook the Amphitheatre - a 1,000 metre cliff wall into Lesotho. The chates are spacious, clean and well equipped - now with satellite TV if you need it. They...

Majestic, spectacular, breath-taking? Others have tried to describe this world heritage site, but it's impossible to do justice to this extraordinary setting. (I can see now why Stanley Baker chose this back drop to his masterpiece, Zulu [directed by Cy Endfield]. The real Rorke's Drift is some 60 miles away and understandably less dramatic as a film setting) Thendele Camp...

Good accommodations for the price. Unbeatable location. Hikes & sights within walking distance. Choose upper camp if you can. Newer chalets. Although lower camp doesn't lack anything. One of the best national park venues in South Africa. No airconditioning though.

We stayed at Thendele Hutted Camp this April for three nights. We had been a bit worried about the state of the accommodation based on the reviews on tripadvisor. Needless to say, we needn't have worried. We were assigned a hut in the upper camp with glorious views of the Amphitheater. Both, the porch and the bedroom had wonderful views...

Thendele's location is fantastic, and it's main advantage. We didn't stay in one of the more secluded huts but still had the feeling of privacy with breathtaking views from some of our windows and from our porch and braai area. In spite of the warnings in other reviews, we encountered not one baboon which was both a relief and a...

First of all... the view! It's incredible. You can see the amphitheatre from your front window. Secondly... this is a remote mountain camp. you have to bring everything in with you. We stopped to get groceries on the way from Durban about 2 hours away from the camp. Once you start driving into the camp you will drive up into...

We stayed in a very comfortable self catered thatched lodge for 2 nights. The views of the Amphitheatre and the surrounding mountains and valleys were stunning when not shrouded in mist. We thoroughly enjoyed the hiking visiting Tiger Falls, the Look Out and the Cascades despite the thunder storms which reverborated around the mountains. Watch out for the baboons! They...

The view of the Amphitheater from our thatched cottage was unforgettable. The hiking was varied and challenging. The gorge walk was great although we only got as far as the ladders. McKinley's Pool is a great swimming spot, as is Gudu Falls (it's quite cold though). Be aware that you must shop for all your food before you come because...
