It was clean in a superficial kind of way but it felt more like a backpackers in a retirement home. Old furniture to give it that country feel but put together without style. The mirrors in the bathroom and bedroom were put up for contortionists. No nice little touches, just very basic accommodation.

We booked several of our wedding guests into Happy Valley, what an unfortunate experience. When they arrived Glynes was so rude to them and told our guests that we where messing her around because we asked to move two couples into different rooms. The rooms also had NO hot water so guests could not shower, unless that did so in...

We visited Happy Valley Lodge for a short break in January 2014. We enjoyed the most marvelous little river on the edge of the property, the lovely swimming pool and beautiful grounds. We had lovely walks and the accommodation was spotless and well situated in relation to the restaurants and shops in Franschoek - just a short 5 minute drive....

Visited Happy Valley Lodge for the second time - this time with our two young children. The lodge only had a small cottage available which was on the small for a family of four but the owner gave us a baby cot and everything worked out. The cottages are scattered around orchards and wineyards - close to the mountains and...

We stayed over as a large family group for a wedding in Franschhoek. The beautiful old homestead provides five bedrooms accommodating nine people, a lovely kitchen, diningroom, lounge and garden with barbeque facilities. The cottages are attractive, comfortable and convenient. My only criticism is that I had the single room in the house, and the springs of the bed were...

We love South Africa and this was our fourth trip there. We had only passed through Franschoek before but wanted to stay a few nights on this trip to sample the vineyards and great dining options. We stayed at the Happy Valley Lodge for several days over Christmas. Willie and Glenys were extremely helpful when making the booking as I...

The natural beauty of the Happy Valley setting is enough to make anybody happy to be in Franschhoek so add to that comfortable cottages with perfect light, in the middle of a clementine orchard, near a stream where our kids played hide and seek and you have a perfect place for an affordable family summer holiday. Willie and Glynnis are...

Relax and unwind in this picturesque house in the middle of a clementine orchard. A short walk through the orchard leads to a swimming pool next to a little stream. Willie welcomes you by giving you a brief history of the area and various things to do. I will be back to visit again. Thank you

The Franschhoek area of South Africa's Cape Winelands has many options, however, for those looking for peace and tranquility yet the convenience of being able to self-cater, and be close to good restaurants and wine estates in this valley, Happy Valley Guest Cottages proved a refreshing alternative for ourselves who are frequent visitors to the area. Personally owned and run...
