We cannot say enough good things about La Providence. It was the standout accommodation of our SA honeymoon trip so far. Gary and Ellen are extremely friendly and welcoming and obviously have a real passion for what they are doing. The rooms are really tastefully decorated and very private. The gardens are immaculate and full of gorgeous flowers. The views... More

One of the prettiest places on earth. Perfectly-maintained lodging, pool, and vineyard. Gated access. A view to die for. Wine taste using the wine train or taste on your own in the Franschhoek Valley. Breakfast doesn't get any better. One of our all-time favorite places, after staying in hundreds of B and Bs in dozens of countries. After only 3... More

Very beautiful lanscaping and traditional architecture. Pool area has stunning view to the mountains. Rooms exceptionally clean and ours is big with a huge bathroom. Feels like the owners/management really didn't cut corners when renovating this place recently. Service friendly and efficient, not overbearing. Quick walk/drive into main street of Franschhoek.

The photos of this place do it no justice! From the moment you drive through the gates to the service you have of being shown round the property and it's gardens and vineyards. The decor is all you could ever dream of in a luxury hotel, just the right amount of modern chic. Breakfast was to die for, with a... More

The entranceway to the Guest houses is pretty neat and the rooms are really well fitted, with a cosy feel and a tasteful modern touch. The hosts were pleasant and the breakfasts were a pretty great experience as well. Just don't order an over easy egg, mine came solid hard, instead order the poached egg or the omelette, they both... We went o Franschhoek for the Bastille weekend and chose well, some places we have stayed and enjoyed, a few we have loved and La Providence falls firmly into the loved category. Vive la difference! Furnished with a degree of extravagance, possible even over the top but the beds are made for sleeping long and deeply, however the hosts made... More

Excellent Hideaway with stunning sundowners and a very personal and friendly service from Gary and Ellen. The location is very tastefully designed and well maintained. Together with the mentioned excellent service its a perfect place to stay in Franschoek. Just don't expect a TV on your room, there is just one in the lounge. However, we didn't miss the TV.... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated behind the historical Huguenot Monument and Museum, and within 5 minute walking distance from the town center. Laying beneath the impressive Middagkrans Mountains, and a short drive up the Franschhoek pass to one of the most surreal views of the town and valley, is La Providence Farm/Guesthouse! Set amongst a picturesque garden of roses and other indigenous plant, a hectare of vineyards and a Cypress avenue, as you enter the farm. The farm consists of 7 guestrooms, with a very modern and sophisticated interior. The old farm house buildings gives you a sense of time gone by. Each room has its own Nescafe coffee machine, a mini fridge where one can sit on your terrace and enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon as the sunsets!! There is an entertainment area for our guests, a short walk from the rooms where one can enjoy a swim in our 12m pool, or laze about on a sunbed and admire the view of the mountains or vineyard. There is a bar with a wooden deck leading out to the pool, or in the evening sit in boma around a fire and enjoy the Milk way with a glass of 'Lewenslust' our local house wine. ... more   less
