The rest camp was very peaceful midweek - imagine it could pick up at weekends and holidays. The chalet we had (7) was very well equipped and in good order. We bought our supplies in the Spar in Swellendam. Don't go expecting to see massive herds of stuff, we saw Bontebok and tortoises - as was anticipated.

The chalets are big and well mantenined, is a peaceful place, probably our chalet number 8 is the one with best views over the river, the chalets had heater electric, but in winter the nights can be cold, the only little problem was that there are few wardrobes.

Stopped off for just one night (could have stayed another). Service is good. Chalets are lovely. Small kitchen with all you need, lovely big braai (barbecue) on the veranda. A lot of wildlife/plants (Bontebok and Zebra) to be seen.Nice picnic facilities down by the river away from the chalets. Will revisit in summer. All in all, lovely.

The rest camp offers ten new chalets, all with en-suite bathrooms, two beds, sofa and kitchen. On the patio...

“Probably chalet number 8 was the one with best views, the other are a little back from the river or with some vegetation in front.”
