KAMAR KAMAR RUMAH TAMU, HOME-AWAY-FROM-HOME IN SEMINYAK, BALI Walking into Bali's 'Kamar Kamar' is like entering another world. Heralded by a large reception area under a trapezium-shaped glass roof - inspired by the roof of a Javanese joglo-house - this intimate, 10-suite, boutique hotel welcomes guests with a breath of fresh air. The unexpected oriental design theme introduces a bold palette of lacquer-black and Chinese-red. Black and red lamps decorate the tables and hang from the ceilings, while the region's rich heritage is celebrated with an impressive collection of Indonesian antiques, including a "nothing is too much trouble" display of circular serving-trays. Charmed by latticed screens and the melodic songs of yellow canaries, visitors will be drawn towards a central courtyard complete with a 12-metre swimming pool, cascading plants and flowering frangipanis. The sophisticated junior suites (five upstairs and five downstairs) are havens of elegance, characterised by fresh white walls, comfy modern furnishings, Indonesian antiques and Balinese artefacts. Each suite incorporates a spacious living room and pantry, an air-conditioned bedroom with a king-size bed, and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a walk-in shower. The ground-level suites each have the additional luxury of a small garden room - a secret semi-open-air annex with a daybed flanked by a pebbled garden where climbing plants chase the sunlight, which filters through the red woven-bamboo roof. All suites are equipped with international-channel TVs, DVD players, mini-fridges, coffee-&-tea-making-facilities, safe deposit boxes, and other fine details all the way down to the sheets. The ground-floor suites have direct access to the pool deck, while the upstairs suites open to a wrap-around balcony with wrought iron railings and curtains of trailing vines.

We visit this hotel the last 8 years I think. Really good location very close to the center of Seminyak but in a very quiet area. The most gentle and kind staff. Clean large size villa rooms located round of a beautiful swimming pool. Thank you so much for your hospitality Kamar😊🙏🏻. Rena & Aris

The location is a little bit hidden from the main road but there are taxis nearby if you wanna go to seminyak. The room is nice and tidy. You would get fresh drink water prepared by the hotel. The personnel are really friendly and helpful. If you want they could prepare you some breakfast (with an additional fee of course). The pool is clean and everyday there are always fresh pool towels.

Great Internet to work remotely. I have been working for a week from the living room of my suite and it surprised me how good the internet was. The internet is great for zoom meetings, teams meetings but also if you need to host webinars, download heaps of documents and work in the cloud uploading lots of documents is incredible! The team is super nice and they work around you to accomodate the best times for cleaning your room if you are in meetings. Great views from every room, super quiet and nice! Didn’t expect this quality so I booked for a day in the closest coworking space but it wasn’t necessary to pay for that!!! It saved me a lot of money! Great internet. Good internet. WFH. Work remotely. Working from Bali.

What a beautiful Boutique Hotel ! I can't say enough about my wonderful stay here with Poppy and her amazing staff ! I booked for a week and stayed almost 2 months.💕 The hotel is beautifully designed with attention to detail. The rooms are huge with 3 separate living areas. The pool area is relaxing and enjoyable! I highly recommend this hotel for your stay ! It's in a great location close to restaurants but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle making it a quiet and serene place to escape. Thank you so much Poppy for being so helpful and going above and beyond.

I and my wife had the good opportunity to stay at this excellent hotel during our time in Seminyak in August 2019. It is a very well maintained place with soothing aesthetics which exudes a sense of hygge in the entire hotel premises. The swimming pool is very clean and it's a delight to enjoy the surroundings. The 2 pet dogs are very friendly to play with and add to the joy of staying here. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Emma, the manager, leaves no stone unturned to ensure your comfort and is very polite and pleasant to talk to. The owner is a very respectable gentleman who regales you with meaningful conversations. The hotel is located in a very quiet village away from the main market street in Seminyak, so a scooter is recommended. Overall, it was an excellent experience to stay here and would love to come back someday! Nikunj Gandhi

Kumar Kama is NOT a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination , more like a 3 star property, but it is great value for the price. There are only 10 rooms surrounding the pool and it is quiet. It isn’t close to the main shopping areas of Seminyak but taxis are very cheap so it really isn’t a problem. The room was clean and a very good size. The little Courtyard in the back is cool in the mornIngs and a good place to relax. Staff are good and Emma in Reception was very friendly and happy to assist in any way possible. The pool was clean and a good temperature. In summary, Kama Kumar is a small boutique hotel with clean, good sized rooms and a nice pool at a very good price. The only drawback is that there is no air conditioner in the lounge area of the room and the air conditioner in the bedroom could be updated. The downstairs rooms have an outside seating area under cover where you get some shade and a breeze. The only meal served is breakfast. The Good Mantra Cafe is nearby as part of Kosta Hostel and was much better as was Rev Bistrot has excellent food and is only a short walk.

The positive: we found the hotel clean and the beds comfortable. Now our other thoughts: we were required to choose breakfast the night before as well as the time we would come to the dining room. We found this odd and restrictive. No free refills on morning coffee Only A/C in bedroom, so we found the living room and bathroom uncomfortably hot. Also, bathroom had no fan, just a screened opening. Fresh towels would be brought in as late as 9pm, rather than replaced when housekeeping was there during the day. We had an early morning checkout - the front office gentleman was asleep on the couch. Location - not close to shops or restaurants. Only one cafe in close vicinity. Seminyak Square about a 30 - 40 minute walk. Hotel staff pushed BlueBird taxi because online transportation apps like gojek or grab are not allowed in this neighborhood. The taxis are so much more expensive.

Dear AdventurousRetirees, Thank you for taking your time to write a review about our hotel. We really appreciate all the reviews from our guests because from these reviews we can learn to improve our service. First of all, we apologize for any inconvenience you have while stay with us. We also want to explain a few things related to your inconvenience when staying at our hotel as follows : 1. For breakfast, we are a small hotel that only has 10 rooms so we think highly about the system for breakfast in our hotel. Our breakfast is not a buffet but a set menu which consists of American Breakfast, Indonesian Breakfast, Balinese Breakfast and Continental Breakfast, we provide a menu and guests can choose one of these menus and also the time at breakfast because the food we cook is fresh food so we can prepare the ingredients in advance. The reason guests chose breakfast time was so we could not be late when serving food. And one more reason why we implement set menu breakfast instead of buffet, because we care about the food that is often wasted at the buffet. So that our hotel serves an set menu breakfast and knows exactly what the guest wants and does not intend to limit guests. 2. Regarding towels and sleeping security, we will give more attention to these matters. 3. For transportation, we have also tried to find a solution by suggesting using bluebird because bluebird is affordable. Online taxis cannot enter our area because of regulations from the local village, because they have their own local transport. This is not only happening in our hotel area, but in most tourist areas in Bali. Thank you for your input and have a nice day :-) See you next time :-) Best Regards, Emma Operational Manager

Extremely happy with my choice to stay at Kamar Kamar whilst being in Seminyak. It is a quiet area, only 10 rooms with a big living room/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The rooms are clean and well maintained, the wifi is good, the pool is clean (you have sun between 10:00 and 14:30 or so) and the staff is super friendly. So happy I have chosen to stay here! Renting a motor bike costs 75k per day (the state is reasonable) and all with all an excellent place to stay. The only feedback I have is: please uncage the birds in the lobby, it is 2019 :(, and also please install a water dispenser to refill your water bottle so that we can save on the plastic pollution in Bali :) thank you and see you next time

Kamar Kamar was our first stop in Bali and we loved every minute of it. The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly (even when we arrived in the early hours due to flight delays) and the atmosphere is lovely - very simple but quite classy. The location is walkable to Seminyak but may be a bit far for some - 25 mins or so, which we didn’t mind. As it’s set back from the main street it’s a bit darker, but we didn’t feel unsafe beyond the usual somewhat crazy roads. The rooms are great - very spacious, huge comfy bed and we had a lovely day bed on our terrace too. The pool area is very nice too. Breakfast was delicious - great choice every morning of Indonesian, American or continental - we chose Indonesian each morning and the Nasi Goreng was the best we had on our entire trip!

We arrived in this beautiful hotel after our adventure in Lubuan Bajo. The entrance just capture us, you open this red curtains to discovered a little gem. Very cosy....loved the intimate approach of this Hotel. You feel like home. The location is great, nice and quite and if you like walking....like me, just 15 minutes walk from bar, cafe, restaurant, beach, shopping....etc. If you stay longer than one night you can always organised to rent a scooter. Have a great stay!!!
