Only got to stay a few days and under pretty atypical circumstances (world wide pandemic going on). First of all Suci, the owner is great. Excellent accommodating booking process, she helped me out last year when my flight got cancelled and I rescheduled this year with no problem. Easy check in, nice restaurant with decent food at standard Indo restaurant prices for local food. Great views- especially sunrise- and well laid out superior room. Diving: pretty decent vis, nice guides - Gun (pronounced with long u) was most attentive in finding cool things to show me as well as Kadek who apparently is nicknamed eagle eyes. I've stayed with The Matahari 'Crew' in Tulamben five or six times now and I will stay again. Absolutely!! As a diver of 40 years, instructor and amateur underwater photographer it's my one stop place to go diving to enjoy and tune in before heading off somewhere else. But, that's not the only reason why I choose Matahari over other places in the area. The accommodations on all levels are very comfortable and clean being serviced every day. Breakfast is included and also bottled water both a plus imo. The restaurant area is right on the beach with Mt Agung to the south west with views around to The drop off and point and on those very early mornings you'll see Lombok and Mt Rinjani off in the distance which only adds to the whole experience. will come again... the dive is so good,, iam a first time diving and the dive master komang are my guide and he so patient,, he help me untill i can do the dive,, coral garden are my first dive , are a good place for a beginner, and a second dive are liberty wreack that so amazing, nice food in restaurant and friendly staff ,, and hotel room is nice is cheep price nice for indonesian treveling like me, and i so recomended this place

We stayed there for only one night as we wanted to do some snorkelling around the area. The hotel offers a full service for this and also has a spa (and not an expensive one!) the rooms are good sized and with air conditioning! The staff is friendly and very helpful, they can book transportation if needed. Also the restaurant located in front of the sea has not only a great view but also good food for the region! Definitely a good recommendation for the area!

My wife and I went had a traditional Balinese massage here. It was so good that I was falling in and out of sleep throughout it. I had a Masseuse called Danni, but my wife’s lady (who’s name I don’t recall) was also great. The massage is offered In the Spa section of the Matahari hotel. They have proper massage beds which was a plus. The cost for a 60min Balinese massage was 110k IDE. By comparison, we had some masseuses come to our hotel and give a mediocre massage - on our hotel beds - for 150k IDR. I know which one I’ll choose next time.

My friend and I (both Divers) decided to go diving in Bali this December and chose to Stay at Matahari. this was my first time staying at the resort and I have to say it was perfect. the location could not have been better. All the great diving point were right in-front of the resort or 5-10 min away by car (very convenient). the resort is very clean and the staff could not be more helpful and nice. Always ready to help (i don't remember picking up my diving gear at all the entire trip unless it was for a dive). The dive guides were exceptional! they will go the extra mile to make sure you see the things you want and that you enjoy your dive. This little resort is fabulous and amazing value. We stayed with our teenage kids for 3 nights in both superior and deluxe rooms. Both were a good size, with powerful aircon and daily room service. The restaurant overlooking the sea on one side and Mt Agung on the other is fabulous, the food is delicious and the staff very friendly. My wife and kids did some diving, as first timers they did training in the pool, a dive at the front of the resort and then a dive at the wreck USAT Liberty. This package was RP800k each. The instructors were very thorough and took great care of them. The pool is beautiful and refreshing and has plenty of seating and loungers around it on various terraces. My wife and I are experienced divers and we have travelled all over the world scubadiving. Now we are getting a little bit older (50ties). We like to be able to relax between dives even if we dive a lot. The wife gets sea-sick easy so we tend to like shorediving better. Thats why the diving in Bali/ Tulamben suits us. This was our 4th trip to Tulamben and our 2nd trip to Matahari. We have stayed for 2 weeks both times. Matahari have some very good special offers that no one really can equal. The Resort Matahari si not a luxury resort. Its a little bit worn down, but everything is clean and tidy. The location is very good by the water. The resort has a very good layout. What a wonderful little part of paradise. Once been, you will be back. The room I stayed in was lovely and peaceful. The food is varied and delicious, served by smily pleasant happy people who will bring you anything you desire (within reason). If you catch fish, they will prepare it and if a mango drops into your lap....it does, they will prepare it, no charge. They offer half price filling of water bottles and save on plastic. They use bamboo straws and are eco friendly. I am so excited and have booked my return as the hotel gets booked up early. I love this place. I travelled alone for the first time from England and felt it was my home. Everyone from owners, reception to cleaners and gardeners, so lovely. I miss it.

This was the fourth time i visited Matahari Tulamben resort and when again in the neighborhood i will stay there for sure again. This is not a fancy super deluxe resort but it has clean rooms in every standart and the food is delicious and the prices are normal. Don't expect rooms with beach and seaviews, the hotel property is pretty narrow and they used the available space to build rooms. At the restaurant by the beach ( there's no sand beach, only rocks ) they serve breakfast ( included ) and lunch and diner, everything is very tasty and price worth. They also serve lots of Thai food, so don't bother going any were else because you end up paying more for less quality.
