We have been staying here for many years & this year, we had 2 x 3 night stays during our month-long Bali holiday. We always regret not staying longer & this trip was no different. The huts are clean & comfortable (no.11 does have a VERY firm bed though), & staff are always lovely. Restaurant has improved a LOT since our last stay & we were quite happy to eat most of our meals on site, though it’s an easy walk to other choices. To snorkel the Liberty wreck is a 3 minute walk down the lane & you’re in the water. Pools are refreshing & usually no-one using them (even when hotel busy).

I stayed here for the third time in March and hope to visit many many more times. It’s such a beautiful place, so tranquil and quiet and beautiful at any time of the day or night. Wayan and his team run an exceptional place to stay and dive from. I dived for eight consecutive days with Made Saur, the same as during the last two visits. For macro photography, an experienced , patient, skilled and observant local guide is needed. Made has all of these traits in abundance. The macro dives were at least as productive, or probably even better than they were pre-pandemic. I came back with hundreds of pictures of wonderful creatures. Tulamben has been hit really hard by the absence of Chinese tourists who are really not travelling yet. It’s such a shame. Having been to Lembeh and Ambon and Anilao, I consider Tulamben to be just as good if not better than these areas. Factoring in the beautiful resort, the skill and kindness of the guides and the staff, a stay here is top class experience.

We were guests for two weeks, what can I say ... we found everything perfect, starting from our perfectly clean room with a well-kept garden and a beautiful swimming pool, all the staff always available and kind, we always ate a lot at the Resort's restaurant well. As for the diving .... here we are at levels of absolute excellence with super competent guides who do everything possible to make you happy ... A kiss to Milky and her milkini from Elena. A super big hug to all the staff and to the very kind Wayan. We will definitely see you next year. Paolo and Elena Bianchi. PS. Ready for a nice pizza🍕🍕🍕😉😉

Liberty dive resort has always been our go to hotel in Tulamben, we've stayed here a few times and will continue to do so. The resort itself is eye pleasing, love the three pools, neat gardens, and nice big rooms. Its a close walk to the beach. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. Thank you for the birthday set up decoration for my daughter. Clean&tidy rooms, with a big bathroom. We chose the newest wing at the back of the resort. We also did our dive here with Bli Karma and it was amazing, as always. Bli Karma and the dive crew attended to all our needs, even the small things like a hot cup of coffee/tea with some watermelon after every dive. Thank you. Sorry, cant think of any cons, a recommended hotel indeed.

We loved the resort, but be aware that it is not located on the beach. We were surprise of this as the web site let you think you are on the beach and they take you by truck to go elsewhere. They put you in a truck, along with your gear, and drive you to the beach. Some beaches are really close (2 minutes drive) and some further (10-15 minutes drive). There is a room for cameras, whit power outlets and desks to put them. As for your dive gear, there are no lockers. Your gear is put in a crate on the floor in the main area by the pool. And it stays there when you don't use it, even during the night. The resort is locked at night but all the guests are free to go around in the resort at night. There is a place to hang your drysuit. There are a lot of rincing tanks, which is great. There are two outside showers to rince. When we were there, there was not a lot of guests, so the loading-unloading in the trucks was ok. A big group came in, and things got a bit chaotic, with everyone leaving and coming back, and all the crates of gear lying around. Only one truck can be loaded at once, because there is no room for more. I just can't imagine how it works when the resort is full! We had a dive guide, which was excellent at finding us nidibranches and all kinds of small stuff to see. The minimum regulation in Indonesia does not require that a person is a divemaster to be a dive guide, but a rescue diver. So our guide was a rescue diver, but still they mostly do everything a DM does.

Just had an eight night stay in this beautiful property and loved it so much again. Everywhere was very quiet, nice for divers, but the almost total absence of Chinese divers has hit Tulamben businesses hard. The staff were are friendly and nice as ever, and the whole resort is immaculate. I was lucky to have had the same guide as last year, Made. I learned so much from him last year about photography and did again this year. Many of the little critters are less than the size of a grain of rice. Guides like Made and his colleagues are rapidly turning Tulamben into the nudibranch capital of the world. I have been lucky enough to have dived most of not all of the macro top spots in Indonesia and the Philippines and the nudibranch spots are best in Tulamben by a mile. The macro spots are not just confined to nudis, we saw wonderful crabs and shrimps including several harlequin shrimps, Donald Duck shrimps, a bobtail squid, a long arm octopus and a hairy octopus. The Liberty Wreck is of course a wonderful dive and we had it to ourselves for a quarter of an hour on a dawn dive, highly recommended. I first dived the wreck in 2011 and have never seen so many bumpheads as on this trip. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful with a wonderful garden visited by kingfishers, bee eaters, a squirrel and numerous dragonflies. I loved chatting to Made, the head gardener, about his beautiful plants and lawns in the morning, chilling by the pool in the afternoon and watching the moon and stars little bats after dark. All in all a wonderful experience at a very affordable price.

Place was beautiful. It did help that we pretty much had the area to ourselves. 3 Pools, great messages. The food was OK but we didn't go hungry. Liberty Wreck was some great diving and the guide for my wife and I was just right.

We have just spent 4 days at Liberty. As newly certified Open Water Divers we were very excited to test out our skills. The diving was quite incredible. We did not have to travel far to experience the Liberty Wreck Dive, coral Garden and Drop off as well as some diving in Kubu. Tama, our guide was really helpful and conscious of our newbie status. Diving was extremely reasonably priced. The resort itself has an incredibly friendly staff who are very hard working. The gardens are just gorgeous. The restaurant has great simple Indo and western dishes. The prices are so affordable and the food so tasty that we ended up eating there 3 out of 4 nights. We did our diving in the morning and spent the afternoons lazing by the pool and getting in room massages. It was the off season during our visit but we were not troubled by rain, our Dive Master told us that visibility was not as good as it usually is but we were certainly not disappointed. We will definitely be back.

Just returned from an enjoyable and relaxing 5-day break at the Liberty Dive Resort. My family and I stayed in the Deluxe Family Villa which was well apportioned and maintained. The resort’s villas are surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens that are meticulously maintained every day. As a diver, I found the resort’s rental equipment to be in good condition. The divemaster-to-diver ratio was high, with 2 DMs to 3 divers, and the dives were conducted safely. I enjoyed the Liberty Wreck dives most, and the sunrise & night dives at the site produced sighting of large schooling bump-head parrotfish and Napoleon wrasse. The staff were warm and very attentive to our needs, particularly Dwi and Adi at the front desk, and helpful in every way. We enjoyed the meals at the resort’s restaurant (other options were within a 10-15min walk if desired) and the spa, massage and day-tours as well. I would return to stay here again.

My second trip back to Liberty this year and I wish I had more. As usual the service and friendly staff make this place shine along with the great diving. This place is consistently good and that is why I return here each time. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the food is great value and plenty of it. It’s a great place for macro and wide angle as far as underwater photography goes. Can’t wait to get back here.
