I am writing this review a bit late, but we wanted to make sure this place gets the credit it deserves. I have to apologize in advance but I do not remember the names of our guides any more, but both were outstanding. During our trip we stayed a few days here in Tulamben, a few days in Ubud and a few days in Kuta and this was by far our favorite experience.
One of us had minimal previous diving experience while the other had none at all and the resort did an exceptional job accommodating. We both took the Discover course together so that I could get a refresher and so she could learn, and our instructor was extremely thorough. Our first day we did the course and went diving on the house reef as well as the USS Liberty wreck. Both dives were absolutely breath taking so we decided to schedule a second day of diving. The guides were excellent at helping us spot new critters under the water.
As for the actual resort, we couldn't have asked for anything better. The beds were pretty comfortable (the best beds we slept on during our stay, granted we were on a lower budget). The resort was calm and relaxing with only a small number of guests so privacy was never an issue. The pool that was right outside our room was never in use so it was practically a private pool. Most of the guests during our stay were adults with a few exceptions. I don't know that this would be the best place to bring kids as there is not an abundance of activities for them to do, unless you keep them busy with diving.
We also spent a day at the spa they have here and the treatment was excellent. I had never been to a spa before, but my girlfriend had and she was thrilled with the treatment. The costs are super reasonable, so if time permits I would totally recommend this.
The food was also much better than expected. The menu was filled with options, including local cuisine, italian and american among other options. Our favorite part was the breakfast and the fresh fruit juices.
The only setback of a stay at Bali Dive would be its location. It was a significant drive to get to any activities we wanted to do, but we were able to crunch in a number of site seeing opportunities in one day with the help of planning by our taxi driver. We went to go see the gates of heaven, and both on our way there and back he brought us to a number of other temples that were much more serene and not run over with tourists. He also brought us to a great lunch spot for some local cuisine.
Two regrets from our stay at Bali Dive: My girlfriend regrets not doing the certification course, and we both regret not staying longer :) Thank you to all the staff for such a great experience!

Dear S6757RIjustint, Thank you for taking your time to review us and give us feedback. It is nice to see that you and your girlfriend had a great holiday with us at Bali Dive Resort and Spa. Our location is quite remote, close to some of the best dive sites in Bali and fairly close to many tourist attractions. Unfortunately, the tourist attractions in this area, are very spread out, but from Bali Dive it is easy to visit all of them. We offer both full- and half day tours, to Lempuyang temple (gates of heaven), Tirtagangga water-palace, Ujung water-palace, Mt. Batur, Waterfalls and many other amazing places. We do our best to accommodate and fulfill our guest's requests as far as it is possible. As you mentioned in your review, our restaurant of the beach is offering a wide menu with local, Indonesian and western dishes. It is important to us that you can find something that falls in your taste, either you are a meat-lover or a vegan. With the breakfast being the most important meal of the day for most people, we are trying to make sure that you get enough of it with a big variety, and healthy fresh fruit juices and fruit platters every morning. We are happy that both of you had a nice experience with us and we hope to see you soon again. It was a pleasure having you here and we hope you will stay longer next time you visit. Kindly, Nicole Dulau

We stayed here for ten days and loved it. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the cleanliness top notch and, of course, the diving was wonderful. The dive guides and instructors were knowledgeable and attentive - be sure to take a dive trip to the Kubu wreck! Not as big or famous as the US Liberty but really cool. If you are there for a longer stay and want to visit other restaurants than the one at the resort, they offer transport to the nearby villages for a reasonable fee.

We had an excellent experience diving with this company in Tulamben.
The dive manager was excellent to communicate with when asking questions and setting up the reservations. Additionally they assisted us in correcting some issues we encountered with our own equipment that we had brought for diving. The shop even arranged for some replacement equipment to be purchased in a dive store in the south of the island and brought up to us to improve our trip.
Our assigned guide was excellent at listening to what our specific requests were for (muck diving, macro subjects) and did an excellent job of finding amazing creatures for us to see while we were there. This was one of the best dive guide experiences in my 15 years of diving.
The dive support staff was also excellent, transportation to and from the local dive sites was seamless and they coordinate with local porters to make your getting into and out of the water as easy as possible.
The hotel grounds are very nice and there are multiple well maintained pools on the property to relax around when your not diving. The bar and restaurant were available from the early morning well into the evening and service and food were good.
Tulamben is a bit remote, and alternatives to the resort restaurant are not many. consider getting a scooter for trips into Amed if this will be an issue for you.
The diving and the Macro life here make this an amazing destination that is not to be missed. We had an excellent time with Bali Dive and would definitely return here again.

My wife and I went for our first scuba trip for years now that the kids are grown up. As a young couple we used to scuba dive a lot around the world before we had kids.

We found a very convenient, hassle free way to scuba dive Bali’s beautiful, unspoilt coral reefs and the Liberty wreck. We had excellent treatment and our own personal dive master. We enjoyed our experience so much that we are coming back next year again.

Bali Dive Resort and spa was recommended by regular customers, my diver friends, sonI decided to go. The location is perfect, interesting shore dive or dive sites just 5/10 minutes drive from the resort. I am a macro enthusiastic and underwater photographer and my guide Candra was happy to spot little things for me, so the diving is absolutely amazing. I stayed in a garden room, very clean and very big, absolutely comfortable and plenty of space to stay. The bathroom is also quite big with a huge shower. The garden is Paradise! The stuff here love their job, they take great care of the customers and of the place. Very very clean everywhere. Nico is always ready to help and cares a lot about her customers.
The dive centre is located in the resort, while the spa is just next door. The food is delicious, prepared with care and very tasty. Many many option were to choose from, international and Indonesian, you can eat and drink all day long. I must say the breakfast is absolutely excellent. Many sets to choose from all freshly prepared. You can drink Young coconut or a lemonade at the pool at any time.
The only thing I would’ve appreciated more was a few more plugs in the room to charge my camera and phone and iPad while in the room.
But really nothing to complain about.

My partner and I came to stay at this wonderful resort last week. Thoroughly recommend the Seaview room, we absolutely loved it. A quiet relaxing resort, lovely pool next to the beach. We ate at the hotel restaurant every night which was very good value, approx 80 000 a meal.
Scuba diving setup was great. We did 5 dives each over 3 days including a night dive. Liberty wreck is absolutely stunning at night and on day dives. Saw amazing corals and lots of tropical fish.
Will look to come back here again in the future!

Dear Rustyonew, Thank you for the review and feedback. It is lovely to read that your overall experience was excellent. Regarding the spa, I've had a chat to our therapists and we will make sure to keep the foot wash a bit shorter in the future (a couple of minutes should be enough). We hope your next experience will be excellent in our spa, as well as the other departments. Kindly, Nicole Dulau

I have stayed in this resort for two weeks and absolutely loved every minute of that.
The location is quite far from the top touristics destinations, but it is something I really do appreciate, this resort gives you plenty of space to chill and relax in peace and quite.
You may hire and motorcycle to get whereever you feel like it (otherwise the resort provides a taxi).
The pool, beach area and restaurant is included. The restaurant provides many items to pick (from “western” cuisine to balinese).
If you want to dive, there is PADI dive centre as part of the resort, with various options nice dives sites, which are really nearby.
Really recommend for everyone, who wants run away from everydays stress. Just have an arak and chill by the pool.
