First impression, this place is the aged. but well kept. i want to dive uss liberty wreck, so location is very near, within walking distance. It is quite place. good for a calm retreat. Room is OK for divers like me. The swimming pool though need some cleaning and filtering of the water. Other than that, a OK.
My wife and I had been regulars here for years usually making at least an annual trip. The reviews of the place sum it up well - it's a place for divers not looking for a perfect or fancy room. We've always been treated well and had good experience until our last stay where due to weather we missed out on a whole day (2 boat and 1 beach dive each). We were shocked when settling up at the end that we had to pay for the day of lost dives because it was quoted as a “package”. That just is not fair! They didn't pay for the boat, the guide, the porters, the tanks to be refilled, etc. even offering a token amount would have been acceptable. We won't go back.
I love love love this place! The location is far from the tourists traps. The rooms are beautiful! The view is endless ocean. I want to go back. The only issue is, the food was not good. I was there last year so, maybe they have a better cook.
We have been staying at Paradise Tulamben twice a year since 2009. It is a perfect hotel for scuba divers, being located mid way between the USAT Liberty wreck and the Drop-Off. The coral gardens are directly in front of the hotel. The hotel is the oldest in Tulamben, and as such is showing it's age, but the location is perfect for divers. We choose a deluxe airconditioned room and have noted some improvements the past couple of years. Bed linens are of a much better standard then in past and the rooms have been fitted with good quality blockout curtains. As always, there is plenty of very hot water, which is so welcome after a days diving. The gardens are well kept and staff always willing to look after their guests needs. The room rate includes a continental breakfast of fruit, toast or pancake and tea or coffee. Eggs can be added for a modest extra cost. The waterfront restaurant is open from early morning to around 10pm, and serves a good variety of meals. There is a swimming pool overlooking the ocean and wash tubs and showers for divers to rinse their gear. Paradise Tulamben is a divers hotel, and as such, guests start to move about in the early morning, however, by 8pm, most are in bed and the hotel is very quiet during the night. I would recommend Paradise for budget minded divers who do not need, or want to pay for luxury surroundings. There are rooms at various price points to suit all types of travellers.…
I stayed here for four nights on a diving trip (though my diving was organised separately by Aquamarine Bali - qv). The location is good, right on the beach close to the famous Liberty Wreck. The pricing is competitive. However, the rooms and bathrooms are pretty basic. And the seafront cafe/restaurant is pretty average too. Fine if your main purpose is to spend all day diving, like mine was. But I would not recommend it for a holiday stay. There are better resorts on that same stretch of beach.
