Our Standard, Superior and Penthouse Rooms are at our dive centre hotel, right in the centre of Tulamben. Our Beachfront Villa Suites are about 1km out of Tulamben and we provide free scooters or car shuttle to get you to our dive centre and/or local restaurants for meals - breakfast is served at the villas. We recommend the Beachfront Villa Suites for guests who like very quiet accommodation. Both locations are set in tropical gardens with sparkling pools, modern and very clean. All rooms have air conditioning & ceiling fans, hot/cold water, fridge / mini Bar, tea and coffee making facilities, TV with DVD player for playing DVDs (there is no TV program) Our room rates include full, cooked, breakfast - we even have vegemite! Tulamben is a small village, about 3.5 hours from the international airport and famous tourist destinations such as Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Sanur, and Ubud. The village is almost completely geared towards scuba diving - there is also some snorkeling.

Excellent team, Diving was well organised and run at the pace I wanted on different days, 5 dives some days two on others. Had the pleasure of being guided by Jaya for a few days and Jack for a few days, both Excellent guides. Motel is clean, quite and spacious. Located less than a 3 minute walk from the liberty wreck, the location enables you to beat the crowds this wonderful dive sight gets.

The accommodation is brilliant, the staff are second to none and the diving is to die for, especially muck diving. Our guide Jaya taught me so much about photography, even without doing a photography course. He went out of his way to make sure that we had a great diving experience. This is our second time at the Wreck Divers Hotel with the same dive guide and I can't say enough about how great it was. We are experienced divers and this was acknowledged and catered for..

Good experience for diving and living.
We contected the owner on his website directly, there also shows the price of diving. There was little tourists when we arrive, and the owner gave us an offer, so we also book car service from him. The staffs are very welcome and helpful, the diving guys are professional, he won't push you down if you feel scared, instead will make it very slow, and give you more time to accept.
We lived on the second floor, the room is very big with bashtub. Breakfast taste good. They also offer laundry service which I really need.

We have been regulars at TWD since 2007, and we keep coming back. The resort is set back from the main street and has a big courtyard with lawn two pools, and a breakfast area with small restaurant. The rooms are nice and generously spaced. We love the tranquil setting of the resort, and for me this is a place to relax and wind down from my busy urban life. The scuba diving is expertly arranged and taken care of, and the dive guides are very experienced. Overall, a great place.

We have stayed and dived with TWD many times. It was still as good as ever.

We were in an upstairs penthouse room, overlooking the two pool and glimpses of the ocean. The rooms are quiet, spacious, with good air conditioning and wifi. There is a separate bath and shower in the bathroom, which has a view of Mt Agung.

We really like getting up and going straight to the on-site dive centre, doing a dive on the US Liberty which is directly in front, then coming back for breakfast, swapping camera batteries and heading out for a second dive.

All the dives are from shore. Some are a short ute drive, which makes the diving really easy, but still as spectacular. This trip we dived Kobo wreck and Kobo Monkey reef for the first time. We ended up doing a second dive at Kobo Monkey we enjoyed it so much.

We had great massages each day in our room after we had finished diving.

Amazing staff that will go the extra mile to ensure your stay is memorable. Excellently located with the USAT Liberty wreck as well as many other amazing dive sites within walking distance. I visited with a large group, but still the staff managed to ensure everyone was looked after and made welcome. The dive guides were simply excellent, they found amazing creatures and critters everywhere and were incredibly knowledgeable. I have injuries that make some aspects of diving difficult, however the guides ensured my kit was taken into the sea for me and helped me in and out of the surf.
Can’t recommend highly enough. Thankyou Wayan and your amazing team

Excellent resort, very good service and highly accommodating staff. They picked us up at Kuta beach and brought us to the airport. The rooms are wide and very clean. The dive staff were very courteous and helpful, specially my dive guide Manku. This is a heaven for macro photography and my dive guide spotted so.manny critters in one dive.
But I think that there alot of improvements to be done to the food.

I cannot recommend these amazing people enough. They've been in business nearly 20 years and you can see why. I was picked up from my hotel, provided great equipment, and a clear dive briefing. My guide Jaya was incredible and has an eye for macro I've not encountered in my professional career diving! We had a well paced, interesting dive on the Liberty Wreck with fantastic conditions. Loved every minute!

Dive shop/diving:
Pros
- Close to the beach. The Tulamben Wreck Divers shop is the closest one to the USAT Liberty Wreck. It is literally a 2 minute walk to the beach and off you go.
- Good cleaning stations. The dive shop has two large fresh water cleaning basins for fins/BCDs/wetsuits, and a third fresh water cleaning basin for cameras and masks. The setup area is big and provides you with all the room you need to get yourself ready and then de-kit after a dive.
- World class diving. The diving in Tulamben is some of the best I have ever experienced. The array of sea life is unbelievable. Whilst in Tulamben I dived the USAT Liberty Wreck 7 times, Coral Garden 3 times, Drop Off twice, Batu Kelebit, Emerald, Palung Palung, Mystery Rocks, and Kubu. I would recommend all of these dive sites as each have something different to offer.
- Very friendly staff. Our Indonesian guide Eric was the resident instructor at the dive shop. He was very knowledgeable and friendly, and did everything he could to make us happy. He was also very easy going. We forgot to bring an alarm clock, and missed a couple of the 6:30am dives, but this didn't phase him one bit. He simply reorganised the schedule to accommodate.
- An early start. The first dive of the morning is at 6:30am at the USAT Liberty Wreck. This seems quite early but with the sun coming up at 6:00am it's not that bad (just remember to bring an alarm clock). The 6:30am dive site does not change, but it is an important time to go for a number of reasons. Early morning is your best chance of seeing the bumphead parrot fish. We saw schools of them on every early morning dive at the wreck without fail. The early morning dive is also good because you avoid the crowds. Everyday masses of people travel from all over Bali (mainly Kuta) to come and dive the wreck. This means that from 10:00am to about 3:00pm there are swarms of divers at the wreck causing it to become quite crowded. My advice would be to dive the wreck first thing in the morning (and also do it for a night dive), and spend the day doing the other dive sites around Tulamben.
- Flexible. We decided to leave two days early and stay in Amed so we could experience the diving there. The manager was more than happy for us to check out early and it wasn't an issue.
- Credit card facilities. Because there is no ATM in Tulamben, you will need to bring money with you for food, drinks, etc... Luckily, Tulamben Wreck Divers have credit card facilities so you can pay for all of your diving and accommodation on card.

Cons
- Beware of hidden costs. While the Tulamben Wreck Divers website advertises their dive sites in Tulamben as all inclusive, if you have to catch one of the small boats to the dive site (even if only for five minutes) it comes at an extra cost of between AU $5 and AU $10 per boat ride. Whilst the cost is small, it is an extra and adds up if you're diving for a week or more.
- Slightly older gear. Whilst the gear at the dive shop was in perfect working order, I found it to be quite used. My BCD inflator button had a hole in it that caused air to leak on the surface (it was fine once underwater). The 3mm long wetsuit I wore was well used and caused me to get quite cold despite only diving in 28 degrees Celsius water (I am comparing it to when I went to Amed later in the week and dived with a quite new 3mm wetsuit in the same conditions and didn't get cold once).

Hotel/rooms:
Penthouse room
Pros
- Very large and spacious.
- TV, fridge, and a safe that is bolted to the inside of a large cupboard.
- Great view. The two penthouses both overlook the pool and gardens of the hotel. Then from the other side you get an awesome view of the huge Mt Agung.
- Conveniently located. The penthouses and other superior/deluxe rooms are located either at the dive shop or 50 metres from it. This means it is not far to go at all to prepare for your dive sites.
- Free wi-fi

Cons
- While the water from our shower was nice and hot, the water pressure fluctuated from nice and strong for about a minute to a mere drizzle for about 10 seconds. This cycle continually repeats itself while having a shower. I think it might have something to do with being on the second story.
- Thin walls. We could sometimes hear the people next to us when they coughed or moved chairs etc... This didn't really pose a problem as most people are there to dive and relax and are in bed at a reasonable hour.
- No room service. This really wasn't an issue and is totally understandable as Tulamben is a small town (the total opposite of the hustle and bustle of Kuta). Just be aware that there is no room service, and most of the restaurants close up at around 9:30pm.

Villa rooms
Pros
- The villas are set aside from the dive shop and main hotel in a quite area about 3 to 5 minutes scooter ride away.
- TV, fridge, and a safe that is bolted to the inside of a large cupboard.
- An incredible setting. The villas are set right on the beach amongst beautiful gardens. There are so many flowers all around the place and it provides an extremely relaxed atmosphere.
- Free wi-fi
- A couple of times a week there is a big traditional Indonesian buffet held at the villas. All guests from the hotel are invited. When we were there the cost was 75000 rupiah per person plus costs of drinks (about AU $10 per person all up). This is a definite must as the food was absolutely delicious and it's a great way to truly taste the best of Balinese cuisine.

Cons
- Tulamben is a small town, with the villas located on the outskirts. You WILL need a motorised scooter to get to and from the dive shop and restaurants in Tulamben. We were provided with an automatic scooter by the dive shop (free of charge), and it took about 3-5 minutes to get to and from the villas. This journey, despite being short, often became a pain when compared to the ease of staying in the rooms at the dive shop, especially when diving at 6:30am.
- Smaller than the penthouse room. The villa room we stayed in (Villa #6) was definitely smaller than the penthouse rooms, about 2/3rds of the size.
- Not exactly a villa. The villas are made up of a number of two and three bedroom villas. However, the rooms themselves are separated by a wooden door, and each room individually rented. This meant that we had someone in the room next to us with only a locked wooden door separating us. We could hear every movement of the person next to us as they moved around their room, opened their fridge etc... Note that again this wasn't a huge issue as we were barely every in our room, and because everyone is there to relax, dive, and not party, most people are in bed at a reasonable hour. This would become a problem however if you had rowdy people staying next to you.

Details/overall:
All in all, Tulamben is a diver's paradise. It is small but well equipped with more than 10 dive shops and restaurants than can cater to all your needs. Make sure to bring plenty of money with you, there is no ATM in Tulamben!
Tulamben Wreck Divers is a great place to stay, with awesome staff and a good atmosphere. For those wanting to come, relax in style, and do a bit of diving, I would recommend the villas. They are set in a quiet area with beautiful scenery and will give you the privacy you are looking for. For those coming for the sole purpose of diving some of the best dive sites in the world, this is the place. I would recommend staying in the penthouse room or one of the deluxe/superior rooms, as they are conveniently close to the dive shop, restaurants, and small shops.
Keep in mind that given the true Bali lifestyle, things can sometimes appear disorganised. Just remember not to panic, make it clear to your dive guide what you want to do and where you want to go, and they will take care of it.

The resort is a nice cheap stay that provides a good breakfast and has a pool. It is located rouglhy 200 m from the water on the upper side of the road. Every now and then there is a barbeque arranged at the resort villa that is really nice to attend.

However, as a dive operator the place is a disaster. These are some of the remarks that I have on the place:
* They dont check your certification. All dive operator should check the certificates of the diver that they take down to 30 meters depth. No paper work was done at all.
* The equipment is in really poor condition. The depth gauge doesn't work properly, showing wrong depths.
* The regulators has been smashed against the ground and should need som TLC
* The divemaster that dove with us wasn't that interested in guiding under water
* The DM tore our camera from our hands when he found something that he wanted to photograph
* The DM didn't really care where he put his fins, breaking quite a lot. He also "harrased" all the wildlife that we found under water so that he could get better pictures.
* Common dive practices such as saftey stops where often ignored

If you want good diving you should avoid this place.

The rooms at Tulamben Resort were large and spacious (but depends which of their two sites you go to - the other is budget). Also be aware that shore diving at Tulamben to the USAT Liberty is difficult with a shore of round rocks of varying sizes making entry/exit difficult
