Our least favorite place after 15 nights in Bhutan (including some very simple places in Autsho and Samdrup Jongkhar), Puenzhi Guesthouse was a bit Hotel California-ish. On a dark highway, no one else around... You're 'welcomed' to the hotel by some (really?!) mortar rounds... We stayed in a large but beaten down room, freezing cold with no help from the...

we arrived late at night after that long, long drive from Punakha via the Pobijka valley, and found the faded decor and warm welcome quite charming, but waking in the morning to the view across the valley and down to the dzong such a joy. The fod was, as everywhere else, mediocre but nourishing and plentiful, the room clean and...

Disappointing as already downgraded from a better hotel and last minute itinerary change. Staff miserable. Drinks expensive, Food bland - although much of the tourist hotel food is (hint ask for chilli cheese side dish if you like spicy food).

For those who enjoy a more local, in-country experience, Puenzhi is ideal. View of Trongsa Dzong was unmatched and our room offered wonderful clutter, unusually-placed outlets and a mountain of cozy bed comforters. We truly liked staying here. Typical Bhutanese buffet dinner, cold beer and easy-going staff.

I confirm what other travelers already stated: very nice site, beautiful view into the Trongsa valley with the Dzong. Me personally, together with my room mate for this organized tour across Bhutan, I can't claim anything seriously about the room, though quite simple. The bed was one of the hardest I experienced during our 2 weeks stay and I did...

Puenzhi is a very good hotel. Nice rooms and clean bathrooms (althought water heating system is the same of others: just one person per load). Friendly staff, good restaurant, food not spicy and an stunning view of Trongsa Dzong. Internet (slow) available. No TVs.

Given the extremely bad Tripadvsior reviews we came with very low expectations. Our room seemed fine with a nice view, but then we realized that the Wifi did not work at all. The staff were helpful , when we requested to be moved to a room near the restaurant that had Wifi. The staff did everything they could to make...

Of our 14 day bike trip in Bhutan this is the only place we had disgusting experience , when I consider the standard set by Bhutan. Due to a last moment change we had to exit Bhutan via Gelephu instead of Samdrup , so we decided to make Trongsa as our base for the final push because we were unsure...
