The hotel was built over 100 years ago and is filled with old charm. The colorful history of the past is on display throughout the hotel and especially in the bar. Well taken care of and preserved, it is worth a stop.

We stayed here specifically to support this hotel and its history. Not much to do in the town but if you need a place to rest, this is good. Rooms are clean and comfortable but since it's a very old building, it did have some quirks! Nothing to complain about and we would stay again. Breakfast was fresh scrambled eggs,...

The appearance of a historic property. The free continental breakfast was good with a different set of items than what is usually encountered (quiche, e.g.). There is a bar/restaurant on premises that was quite crowded. The only negative was the lack of heat in our room, which hopefully has been remedied. We would likely stay again though, if in the...

A few times a year we drive from Denver to south Texas and every time we do, we try to arrange the legs of the trip so we can spend one night at the Eklund Hotel. It's a beautifully restored historic hotel with lots of stories around it. It's owned by 2 (semi) retired architects, one of which grew up...

I spent one night at the Eklund Hotel. It is quaint, and the bed was comfortable, but I was kept awake until well after 2am by the trains that blew their whistles as they went by. I was on the third floor, on the west side, with nothing between my windows and the train tracks. It sounded like the train...

My daughter and I were driving from TEXAS to Colorado. We didn't know where we would end up for the night, so booked last minute. Even though it was late when we arrived and we had neglected to mention we had a dog when we booked, they were very pleasant and understanding. The following morning, I started asking questions about...

If you love old hotels, this is a step back into the past. The rooms are large and spotless, the staff friendly and the lobby filled with antiques and pictures of the hotel's past. There is a bar with some craft beers on tap. There is also a nice, and very popular, restaurant. The food is not particularly upscale, but...

I've stayed here several times on road trips and it's always been pleasant. The staff is friendly, the rooms are very neat and clean. It's an old hotel but has been carefully restored. Beds are comfortable and the continental breakfast is above average. Prices are very reasonable too. Theres a nice coffee shop just a block away that serves excellent...

Fine food and drinks in elegant dining room or cowboy bar. Excellent craft beers on tap. Friendly staff and customers. Beautiful 3-story atrium staircase and elevator. Quirky but charming rooms require ear plugs (available on check-in) for sleeping due to all night traffic and several trains with prolonged loud whistles. Expect some joy and discomfort in this 1890s Wild West...

We arrived at this beautiful hotel about 8:00pm and were assigned a room on the 3rd floor. No problems since there in an elevator. The room was frigid, but since we didn't have reservations we turned on the heater and headed back down to the gorgeous entry and started to go into the "saloon" to have a drink while our...
