While we didn't get to fully use the property, due to COVID restrictions, this was a nice little motel. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Only complaint was the walls are paper thin and we could hear everything going on outside. Someone was in the room above us and when they turned the shower on, the water noise in our wall was quite loud.
We will definitely stay here again next time we go to visit our friends.

The Elephant Butte Inn (used to be Quality Inn) was a very surprisingly nice hotel. Set on the edge of Elephant Butte Lake State Park it has beautiful views of the lake and the hills at sunset (make sure you get the "lakeview" rooms...rather then the parking lot rooms), very clean and comfortable rooms. The staff was very friendly and the food in the tavern was first rate. A great value all around, I would recommend it to anyone going through the area or needing a weekend "away".

Booked a one night stay here with family, supposed to have pool, breakfast, eating place but as we checked in asked about them to be told no pool, no breakfast. No deli apparently its 'all on our website' - well no it wasn't. Cost me 100 dollars for the night. The room curtain looked like it was going to fl down. Holes in it and door window never been cleaned in its life, toilet was filthy with stuff falling out of vent in ceiling. NEVER AGAIN. TERRIBLE. my 11 year old says Absolutely Terrible. This was worst night of our holidays in New Mexico.

Booked a room for my Granddaughter and her family over the weekend, had a late arrival but I had prepaid for the room earlier that day. When they arrived person working was rude actually yelled at them, finally got there room key to find trash still in the waste baskets and dog hair all over the sheets. I will NEVER support this business again!!!!

Although this hotel has a great location, and looks great from the outside, it has been allowed to deteriorate. Our room looked very shabby. Holes in the curtain, furniture chipped and stained. The worst was the bath mat with black mold.

I have never experienced such a rude general manager in my life. Gerald, whom was extremely mistaken confronted me with a very incorrect statement. Most people, would pull you aside to speak to you however Gerald had no problem in teling me 'OUR KIND OF PEOPLE ARE NOT WELCOME AT HIS HOTEL."
Gerald, if I were of a different race other than being Hispanic would you have treated me this way!!!!!!

Response from guestserviceseb, General Manager at Elephant Butte Inn
Responded 8 Jul 2010
As can be seen from the other reviews listed on Trip Adviser, our guests normally leave here very happy with our services and our staff. The majority of our guests are from Albuquerque, El Paso, and Mexico, many of whom are Hispanic. Discrimination is not allowed as per our hotel policy. This guest's visit with us had an unfortunate ending, and as is true with most situations having two sides, not all the facts have been listed in the guest's review.

Clean rooms. Fast check in. Great customer service. Room 222 had a great view of the lake. Very nice for the money. Restaurant not crowded and we had excllent service. Very reasonable prices and lots of food for the money. Wait staff very friendly. The lounge act was not for us but the over 65 crowd seemed to love it. We will stay again.

Got reasonable rates with AAA discount (don't forget to ask!). Stayed in a room on the 2nd floor with a view of the parking lot! Room was large, very clean with great toiletries!

Pool is OK, if a little small. The usual annoyance of children running round and round the edge put us off! Had a very good meal in the restaurant. Good food, well prepared and lots of it! There is also a bar with live music. Clientele was a little odd and raucous so we didn't stay long.

Breakfast was a reasonable buffet of the usual fayre (waffles etc). Overall a good place to stay if you have to be in that part of New Mexico (!)

We've visited the Elephant Butte area three or four times over the years and began to stay at the Elephant Butte Inn several years ago. Each stay at Elephant Butte Inn has gotten better. We stayed for a week in August and I can't say a single negative thing about the staff or accommodations. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and helpful from the owners to the room service lady to the grounds keeper. The room was in excellent shape and had a big comfortable bed. We typically stay at Hilton's and I'd rank this room in the same category. An added amenity is the excellent new indoor pool and exercise room available across the street, a wonderful new addition. The free or included in the room cost breakfast is almost in the same vein as one at a Hampton, in other words okay for free. The scenic location gives great access to and a fine view of the lake and this visit the "Elephant Butte Days" hot-air balloon regatta was a nice treat to see. Excellent stay!
