The family that owns the motel are very friendly. We enjoyed our stay and will stay there again. Enjoyed having a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishes and coffee pot. They gave us the room with a spot next to it for our boat without us even asking.

If your looking for a place to walk out the front door and see the lake and grab your rod and go then this is one of the 2 places I would stay if I were you. (After staying up here close to the water you couldn't pay me to go rent one of the many dime a dozen hotels off the main drag (besides in town on the main drag its all commercial like Walmart and McDonalds and gas stations) who wants to walk out their door and look at traffic and Auto Zone and Denny's when you can be up on the rivers edge with the best views ever? Plus up there (staying here or staying at the Marinas Damsite) you at least have a Restaurant a bait shop and 2 bars nearby. The rooms here are clean, and have a kitchen. They're not fancy looking but its a good weekend away from the grind here. If your not sure where to stay I recommend just showing up and having a look because the 2 resorts up here (motel, cabins & lodge) always have rooms available anytime I've come or sent friends up without any reservations.

We've stayed here for the winter. The owner is a delightful woman, a very hardworking mormon lady who has taken good care of us. The motel is close to the lake for weekend fishermen, but a lot of the people who stay here are nurses from the VA hospital or families visiting their relatives. Nice and quiet, worth every penny.

This used to be a nice hotel but has fallen on hard times. Instead of catering to weekend lake-people it has turned into a flophouse for illegal aliens and alcoholics.
You will pay 100 a night while they pay 10.
The carpet, furniture and linens are several years old. Refridgerator door wouldnt shut.
Bugs everywhere. AC is poor. Listened to crying babies and mariachi music until 2 am.
Just really no reason to stay here. See the review below about a tent being better. Should have listened.

If you're looking to be pampered with room service and wait-staff, then this isn't for you. But if you're looking for some place comfortable to kick-back after a day on the lake it's great. You have your own kitchen, complete with stove, microwave, refrigerator (stocked with basic kitchenware), so if you're hungry at midnight, all you need to do is make sure you've stocked your fridge. The room provides cable tv and I had no trouble hooking up with the internet. (It was faster than my home wireless.) It's comfortable and the staff is great.

You can tell this motel has aged a bit but it was very clean. The wifi worked 75% of the time. The entire room was furnished. Plenty of space. The bathroom kitchen living room and bedroom are all separate so there is plenty of room. Able to park right outside my door! Beautiful mountain views right from the window. Able to see the lake from this hotel. I would definitely recommend it for anyone needing to stay in the area as opposed to the main hotel chains right off the interstate. The owners are some of the most friendliest people you'll ever meet.

Think of Gilligan's Island, not a single luxury. No phone, no internet- despite it being advertised as being availible. The rooms face west so the room heats up but they didn't have the "swamp" coolers repaired so the rooms get up to around 90 degrees in the afternoon. And since the wind in T or C and Elephant Butte generally blows in from the west, the rooms have dust continually blowing into them. For the price, definitely not worth the money. Unfortunately my company booked me here for 13 weeks and wouldn't move me so I am glad the internment is finally over.

We were very pleased with our room. It was very clean, good water pressure, we could pull the boat right up to our front door and plug it in. This is not a new facility, but it appears to be maintained very well. We will be going back.

Absolutely 100% one of the best, most accommodating, super clean, comfortable, quite, suite-type motels ever I've stayed at with exceptionally pleasant staff ever I've interacted with. I'm a traveling tradesman, thus I'm on "the road" ostensibly all of the time; therefore, motels are where I live. The rates, combined with every other good thing you'll experience here, will raise eyebrows. I suggest strongly, if you're considering a trip to Elephant Butte or its surrounding areas, that you check this place out. I promise: you'll not be disappointed.
