I moved to Canada from Southern Africa 13 years ago and relish the opportunity to visit the African Bush. Cheetah Plains did not disappoint and I loved every minute there. What an experience to take a dip in the refreshing pool and dry off watching hippos in the water hole and monkeys cavorting on the side (of the water hole...

Greetings, Maeverella! We are delighted that your visit to us was so rewarding! A truly special feature of living here in the African bush is that each day presents a new wonder and one never stops learning and discovering new things - I am so pleased you got an inkling of this and were so receptive to the treasures of...

We will remember this trip forever!! Been to the Kruger Park before but here the quality of the guides & trackers was unbelievable - from the Big 5 through click beetles & termite mounds to seemingly every type of grass that grows there - so it was a uniquely educational experience too. The food, the general atmosphere & the whole...

Greetings from the African Bush! It's so rewarding to hear a guest comment on the too-often overlooked 'small stuff' like beetles and grasses! Of course, seeing the Big 5 is an awesome experience but our Bush world is so much more than this, and for a visitor to recognise this is most satisfying. We at Cheetah Plains strive to help...

I stayed at Cheetah Plains for 2 nights between Christmas & New Years with my husband. This was our third time to South Africa and as usual the African bush did not disappoint. After a rather interesting drive to the Sabi Sands area (I would recommend a SUV vehicle if you are self driving as the road conditions close to...

Greetings Jacqui! Thank you for that comprehensive review and the information it contained that we can use to save our guests from unwanted interaction with the local insect-life! Indeed, I recall that period distinctly as the long-awaited, longed-for rains came, and accompanying it, the frogs, monitors and, of course, insects! The flying ants are a distant memory now so their...

I hope the trip created many special memories for you of our special corner of the world and that the magic of the bush has taken root. It is truly a privilege for us to share a snippet of the...

I am so pleased that your first safari experience was such a positive one - hopefully you are now infected with love for the bush and will need to return in the near future! It is gratifying to hear of your response to the village tour as we take pains to keep it authentic and real, and I am relieved...

We spent 2 nights at Cheetah Plains, after 3 nights at a fancier and more expensive lodge. Both were great - its really the animals and the weather that determine your experience. Cheetah Plains rooms are small but quite clean and comfortable. The mosquito nets over the beds are effective, but actually, we had almost no insects anywhere in the...

We at Cheetah Plains really appreciate your taking the time to write this positive review. I am glad the insects were deterred from inviting themselves into your room and that you enjoyed our hospitality. Regrettably, I must concede that the roads providing access to the Sabi Sand Reserve can make for a challenging drive - particularly after recent rains -...

We truly appreciate your kind words, Jessica, and are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to us. Since you left, good rains have transformed the landscape - the dam at the pool has filled providing a playground for the hippo to frolic, and there is a profusion of plant growth, with accompanying wildlife, big and small. Perhaps you can be...

We enjoyed four memorable days in this lodge. Cheetah Plains provided us with our lovely cabin, beautiful grounds, home cooked communal meals and twice daily safari adventures in an open jeep. Thank you for your enthusiastic comments regarding your stay with us. It always gives us tremendous satisfaction when we succeed in pleasing our guests! Unfortunately Cheetah Plains was a huge disappointment on so many levels. It was the most expensive lodge we stayed at and it was by far the worst value for money.
