Kapama Buffalo Camp was the first of three lodges that we stayed out during our trip to S. Africa. The property is cozy, rustic, and welcoming. The main room, bar, and dining areas are all open and have a great view of the inviting pool. The room we stayed in was beautiful and the A/C worked great on the hot...

Technically its living in a tent. But what a tent! Specious air-conditioned room, gleaming floors, shower stall with rain shower with glass wall at the back. Yes, those monkeys and other animals passing by can see you naked in the shower but no humans can. If you are feeling prudish, there is also a beautiful bath tub in the middle...

We had a superb experience staying at Buffalo Camp. We couldn't find fault with the accommodation or dining at the camp whilst the service from all staff was great. Would definitely recommend staying here!

We stayed at buffalo camp for 2 nights but wish we could have been there for more- due to busy time and capacity our other 3 nights were ended at the river lodge, which does not even compare or do justice to this camp or the Kapama brand. Buffalo camp exceeded all expectations we had, the tents are more glamorous...

The Kapama Buffalo Camp, on the Kapama Game Reserve, offers probably the most intimate, authentic, and surely exclusive accommodations in Kapama. With a limited amount of 'tents', it is clearly not crowded, and people there look for unique moment, both on the reserve tracks and in the camp. Service, food, comfort are better than anywhere else! Just perfect. The tents...

We had a 2 night stay here and were met at the airport which is right beside the reserve by Ranger Jeffrey who was also our ranger for the duration. Our accommodation was superb, the staff so friendly and the food top class. We fit in 4 game drives on the stay and the attention we received from Jeffrey and...

First this is the best place to stay while going on safari, with only 10 tents you have a very intimate setting. The tents are not your average tent, these would be a 5 star hotel to shame. Taking a bath after the evening drive looking out on the savannah and hearing the animals there is nothing like it. The...

This could very well be my favorite place on Earth! It's been 6 months since my visit and I still can't think of a single complaint about this place. In fact, I've already booked my reservation for my next stay! From the staff to the accommodations this place is gold! It's small and intimate giving you very personal and attentive...

There are several Kapama camps in the same private park abutting Kruger. Kapama Buffalo Camp is the smallest and most intimate of the camps, which we loved. Our safari tent was more like a deluxe hotel room on stilts – extra fun when the wind kicked up and the tent creaked. We were in the Elephant tent, which was at...

We booked a 4 day safari and stayed in Buffalo Camp which was supposed to be tents, but they are really rooms on stilts which move in the wind. They are definitely lovely rooms though. The food was always very good and different each day, apart from the breakfast which was always the same. The service was always very good....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Reminiscent of a traditional African safari camp, Kapama Buffalo Camp offers a unique and intimate experience in the African bush. It is ideal for discovering big game Africa in true safari tented style without compromising on comfort.Ten luxury build canvas tents, each sleeping two, are set on wooden decks built on stilts over a steep-sided riverbank. Wooden walkways interconnect the rooms, which are all in the upper reaches of tall riverine trees. The river below rarely flows and antelopes are seen daily walking along the sandy riverbed. Each tented room has all the usual comforts of electricity, en-suite bathroom, safe, writing table, wardrobe, low impact climate control, mini-bar and tea/coffee facilities. The communal areas of Buffalo Camp are on the riverbank, where gardens of succulent aloes and euphorbia are tended around the thatched bar, dining room, pool terrace and campfire. But the thick African bush is just a glance away, inhabited by animals like lion, hyena and jackal whose calls can be heard in the dead of night. Lanterns, rather than electric lights, glow at night under the trees, creating a special intimate ambience particular to Buffalo Camp. With a maximum of 20 guests at Buffalo Camp, special attention is paid to personal service and the staff become like friends. Kapama Buffalo Camp is a truly authentic way to experience the African bush. ... more   less
