We just stayed here in September 2013. We had a great experience. We had heard that the Safari experience would be largely dependent upon your guide. Well, we had a great one! She knew how to track down the big 5 (as well as all the others such as the cheetah and giraffes) which made for a fantastic experience for... More

We stayed here Aug/Sep last year although my review is very late. This was our 2nd time here we came a number of years ago for our honeymoon and stayed in Long Lee Manor this time we stayed in a luxury Bayethe Tent. I have to say I was nervous about the tents as a girl from the city who... More

Shamwari was amazing. We stayed in the luxury tents and wow, was it impressive. The elegance, comfort and view were second to none. The staff was fabulous. The game drives spectacular and the food gourmet. I can't say enough about the facilities, personnel and the wildlife. What an incredible experience.

Our "tent" at Bayethe was more luxurious than many hotel rooms we've stayed in. Although it was cool in the evenings and early morning, the luxury of a private plunging pool was so welcome in the midday heat. When we decided to visit Africa we were not really interested in a safari. We drove from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth... More

Nothing can describe the truly amazing experience but here goes. We opted for 5 Star luxury and booked in to Long Lee Manor at Shamwari. The magic starts when you finally reach the accommodation and on arrival are handed a glass of home made lemonade. Then we were shown to our suites. Wow massive with 2 bathrooms each fully equipped,... More

What an amazing experience! Glamping in style at Bayethe Tented Lodge. We stayed mid August and had an amazing time both in the lodge itself (lovely food, luxurious accommodation and great service), and out on safari with Mino. His passion for the wild was infectious and we both learnt about and saw many fabulous sights. For me, walking into the... More

Our South African adventure started with three night stay, 14 to17 July in Shamwari Riverdene Lodge. My family, two adults and one very knowledgeable 7 year old, were received at the lodge by an always attentive staff around noon. I wish I could list all the staff by name, but it seemed like we had an army of staff attending... More

We've just spend three nights at the Explorer Camp with Guide Geran and Camp Manager/Cook/Lamp-fixer/butler Kasper and we'd just like to share how very brilliant it was. We arrived lunchtime on Friday, met our guide and lunched at Eagle's Crag - great service, good food and a very welcome roaring fire (It is winter after all). We then drove out... More

Just read a review from Robert S and its déjà vu We also stayed in Lodge 7 in Bayethe....Glamping on steroids! The place was superb with the Opportunity to have a hot shower outside in total seclusion. Separate plunge pool, decking, seating....highest quality throughout. We were also fortunate enough to get Mino as our ranger. He forecast an unforgettable experience... More

My wife and I have just returned from Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape where we spent 8 nights at the Bayethe Lodge from July 30th to August 7th 2013. Shamwari is simply stunning, vast and unspoilt with very different scenery between the North and South of the reserve. Bayethe Lodge was everything we wanted and more. The tented... More
