In this park there are many animals, the safari is worth the trip. For the price the lodges are in need of maintenance and cleaning. We had a rainy sason and after unpacking we needed to move to another lodge as the rain was leaking on our bed. Staff is friendly and good. Cleaning should be better.

Great place for both couples and families. All rooms have a plungepool which was great as well as Aircon and fan so all temperatures catered for. Little touches like a daily chat with housekeeping, boma dinner and treats on special days like Valentines Day were lovely. Staff are great, we were thoroughly pampered. Rooms are superb, loved the 'gym in...

Just left today and we were there as a family group. Shawn was our lodge manager and ran behind the scenes expertly and arranged a stunning night dinner out in the bush. These people are often forgotten about but we recognised all the hard work he put in to make ours a special experience. JP was our safari guide for...

Our experience at Madikwe exceeded our expectations of what a safari would be like. Everything from start to finish was 5 star. We had our own ranger, Daniel, for 3 days and he was very knowledgeable, personable and fun. Our children, aged 10 and 13, absolutely loved it as well. We saw the big 5 and so much more. All...

I was there after a week of work in Jo-Burg for 2 nights. The lodge is located in a magic scenic location. The game drives were perfect and sufficiently varied. Great food in cosy settings. One highlight was the bush dinner which was offered as a suprise. Staff was great.

The team were absolutely fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble for them and we were made to feel extremely well cared for. Johan and his team were amazing and our departure was the most emotional we have ever experienced. We didn't want to leave and the team didn't want us to go! The little extras they did ( some surprises...

After 3 days in Marataba (see different report), we (my wife our 10 years old son and I) went to Madikwe Safari Lodge (Lelapa lodge). After the fantastic experience of Marataba, we were curious to see if Madikwe Safari lodge could raise to he bar... The Lodge is beautifully incorporated in the sensational landscape. The Lelapa logdes are vast (very...

Going on safari was never on my “bucket list”. I simply did not “get” the allure. Despite my ambivalence, this past January (2017) I joined my extended family on a trip to South Africa culminating in a stay in the Madikwe Lelapa Lodge. Wow! What an experience!! I truly loved every minute! The Lodge management and staff, including Alan and...

The service was exceptional, and the pool overlooking The Valley with a watering hole 100 yards away brilliant. At one point I was in the pool with my kids watching eight giraffe, ten zebras, a few impalas and a couple of wildabeats all drink at various times. It was beyond special.

I would highly recommend Madikwa (and the Lelapa lodge in particular) if you want an outstanding safari experience. Not only did we see all the BIG 5, but we had great accommodations, phenomenal food and the hospitality from everyone (guides, waitstaff, Lodge management, etc) is probably the best we've ever had and we have traveled extensively. If you want to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The rich red timbres of the African earth are reflected in the warm tones of Madikwe Safari Lodge. Cradled between rolling hills, overlooking game-filled plains intersected by the Marico River and framed by the Dwarsberg Hills, just 20 suites are clustered in three intimate camps. With circular fireplaces at the heart of every suite, and big glass doors to blur the boundary between inside and out, Madikwe embodies the warm, bold heart of this spectacularly rugged corner of Africa. Spacious wooden decks embrace inviting plunge pools, and book-filled shelves in quiet corners entice and captivate, while large pizza ovens add a fun twist to meal times. ... more   less
