We stopped here while driving through to the Grand Canyon from Texas with our RV. The staff were very accommodating and there is absolutely pride in ownership. You can tell the owners put a ton of time, money and effort into this place. The rooms were very retro but still clean and everything worked great. The little cafe made great...

Absolutely fabulous place to stay in Tucumcari! The owners are friendly and made me feel welcome. I stayed 2 nights just to soak up all the Route 66 history. Very pet friendly- nice grass area in front and a park next door to motel. The room was sleek and clean- very retro. Good wifi, tv, microwave and the adjacent coffee...

We've been on a 2 week road trip, and this place was the best we've stayed at so far. The rooms are super cute, clean, and I love the floor to ceiling windows in the front! Staff was very friendly, I wish we could stay longer!

This is the 2nd time thru this area. Wanted to try something different so we chose this motel. I'm glad we did. The room was neat and clean and the room and building brought back feelings of days gone by. The owner checked us in and she couldn't have nicer. Would highly recommend it

Wondered what we were going to strike when we came to Tucumcari.. Had reports along our epic Route 66 drive that it was a town that had the most number of original neon signs .. well there were some but really nothing to write home about. After driving up the main street looking for suitable clean accomodation and passing the...

We stayed here for one night our Route 66 trip. Comfortable good sized rooms in a lovely restored 60s motel. If you are looking for good coffee on 66 the attached espresso bar serves an excellent espresso and good breakfast.

Love the retro style of this motel. Check in was easy and parked in front of room for easy unloading of car. The king size bed room was clean and the price was perfect ($58.90 with tax). Make sure you check out the furnishings in room and the white scalloped cement chairs that are outside...blast from the past. There is...

We ventured into this town tired and unsure. Luckily I found the reviews of this motel on trip advisor. It has a great mid-century vibe with 60s sling chairs on the patio. Reasonable and clean. There is also a breakfast restaurant attached.

It is hard to find this kind of historic motel that has nice, clean rooms and the cost is less than $50. You can't go wrong here. Friendly staff and helpful staff. Coffee shoppe attached to the motel. Not far to the Wigwam Restaurant and Lizard Lounge. These, too, are worth a visit. Make this motel a "must stay" if...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Historic Route 66 Motel is a mid-century modern hotel that is similar in style and atmosphere to hotels and homes designed by Mies van der Rohe, Joseph Eichler, and Oscar Niemeyer. Built in 1963, both the exterior and interior is more than a little reminiscent of "California Modern", a style that was so popular until the latter sixties. Our mission is to provide clean, private, and comfortable overnight accommodations for guests at an extremely reasonable rate. Refrigerators and microwaves are available in select rooms. The Motel also includes a popular European Style Espresso Bar on the west wing where guests receive a 10% discount on all items and an exterior corridor, where guests can park directly, or nearly directly, in front of their rooms. The Historic Route 66 Motel is operated by a professional staff directly managed by the owners. ... more   less
