We were 12 adults and 3 toddlers staying in the Arum Lilly house, a large house that overlooks the dam and beautiful landscape, unfortunately our experience was not as pleasant. It has only the bare minimum, solar powered (with a few plug points and wifi to at least not be completely off the grid) which is not a problem, but...

If there is one thing we have learnt in the hospitality industry, it is that it is all about expectations! Sometimes, unfortunately, no matter how good ones' communication is, what is on offer just does not match the picture in the client's mind. We believe this is the case here. We specialise in hikers and people wanting to walk and...

(Hike:7.5/10, Difficulty: Easy-moderate, Service: 5/10 Need: High clearance vehicle, 1L water /adult) Fynbos retreat is one of a few locally owned estates that offer day hikes on the homestead. The website does state that day visitors are welcome at entry of R40pp, however opening hours and days are less specific so we took a chance. Noted the Stanford maps to...

Fynbos, Fynbos, Fynbos everywhere. Wow, how beautiful it was and how lucky we are to have this gem near Cape Town. We stayed at Arum lily cottage with other family friends and we fitted comfortably with some overflow into the cottage next door. We were 22 people but we could have had 27 comfortably. Perdita, the owner organized pizza's for...

We stayed in a little cottage called Sewejaartjie. It was secluded and peaceful. Comfortable bed and fully equipped kitchen. We went for a walk along one of the trails through the fynbos and down to a small waterfall and montane forest. This is part of the private Grootbos reserve. (There is a 3 day hike that passes along the same...

We stayed in Fountain Bush Cottage which had a couple of very nice bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and a living room with an open fire place. Outside there was like a little...
