We stayed 3 nights at Grootbos Forest Loge, Room 32, all simply perfect and the word Nature gets it all ... the food is stunning, we were able to get a private dinner in the Wine cellar, unbelievable experience on wine and food paring. The rooms are top, all you need, the romantic fireplace, the terasse in the green and...

We had a wonderful stay at Forrest Lodge - it is very modern in design, vast rooms (bedroom, lounge and bathroom) huge picture windows with views of the fynbos, milk wood forest and the beach and complete luxury. The walk to the cottage is magical, especially at night as the path wanders through the forest. The food is absolutely superb,...

My elderly mother and I recently spent two nights in a two-bedroom suite at the Garden Lodge. Grootbos is not ideal for the elderly, as there are many steps, some without railings. But the hotel staff were completely upfront about this, and we went anyway. We were glad we did, and the staff did their utmost to accommodate my mother's...

Dear crulezim Thank you for your very constructive review. I'm thrilled to see that you enjoyed your time with us and in particular, Nashlin's company! He truly is one of our shining stars. I really appreciate your comments on the design of the room. I'm sure we can rectify a few of those little niggly areas quite easily. Without you...

We stayed at Forest Lodge for a couples getaway for two nights in August and were thrilled with all aspects of our stay. This is definitely a bucket list destination, but be warned - they've been hit by fire twice...it's the nature of the nature there. The setting is spectacular, overlooking the stretch of bay between Gansbaai and Hermanus, with...

Stayed for three nights as part of an organised tour. Fabulous place. Beautiful, huge suite in its own cottage, with a fantastic view over Walker Bay. Excellent service, charming staff, amazing food. They even coped seamlessly with a power failure. Some great social initiatives as well, with training programmes and a horticultural centre and farm. Expert botanical guides for the...

I really don't know where to start ! This truly is one for the bucket list... I must admit driving in I felt a little disappointment as it is just off the main road not hidden in a Forrest as I imagined, but how wrong I was! Once you arrive you wouldn't even know there was a road anywhere near...

WOW! Thank you Alison for a stellar review! We are all thrilled to hear that you had such a great time with us. We stayed here for two nights, it was perfect. Even though the weather didn't behave we had a great time. The accommodation was perfect, like a small house. Dear Olive Thank you for your positive review. It really goes a long way to motivate our staff. Our whale-watching season was definitely shorter this year than in the past but we know for sure that the whale population is on a steady incline, perhaps they just chose to holiday elsewhere this year. I do hope you have an opportunity...

Grootbos is a private nature reserve of some 2500 hectares protecting over 750 indigenous plant species, perhaps most notably a myriad of fynbos species and the ancient milkwood trees.
