This motel is old, room with 2queens was small but clean and a new working tv that was on cable so also had Wi-Fi. Pet allowed but no real exercise area. Very friendly housekeeper. Oh, and plenty of big fluffy towels and toiletries that have been missing in many budget motels.

I needed a safe place to rest my head between two double shifts and this was the perfect spot! The bed was very comfortable, the rooms were very clean and the shower was hot with the perfect water pressure. I don't own a TV so it was nice to experience the burden of choices for a moment with so many channels to choose from, and the decor was very understated New Mexican gold. Will most definitely be back!

If there is a bug in New Mexico you'd like to see, come to the Rio Grande Motel. There will be a parade of local pests in your room. The owner is too cheap to spend money on pest control so there's no chance you'll miss seeing even a single one.

We discovered this motel via the Internet and the reviews that we read were not bad so we gave it a try.
Upon entering the room, we found it to be dark (only the bedside lamp) in the room. There was a light over the sink and another in the restroom. Even with all three of them on, it was still dark.
The TV was an old 19" tube type TV. They had Direct TV hooked up to it but I couldn't read the guide from the bed area because the screen was so small.
Our room had two full size beds in it with mattresses that were worn out. The bed squeezed with every slight movement. When I woke up in the morning, I found that the sheets had come off during the night and I was laying on the bare mattress. When I sat up, I found that the mattress was stained.
I immediately, gathered my family and we loaded up and checked out by 6am.
I found another room for the remainder of our stay in T or C. I have photos of the stained mattress and the tiny outdated TV.

Response from Wanpen R, Manager at Rio Grande Motel
Responded 27 Jan 2015
Unforntunately this (guest) did not inform us directly at front desk so we could change room or properly compensate his or her bad experience as our guest. We strive to make all our guests as comfortable as possible at a low reasonable cost. All our rooms are clean and even though coffee stain is cleaned throughly it does not come off completely. All our guests love our lower rates (almost 50%) than other motels in our area. As for our television size we just added 32" flat screens for our guests enjoyment along with FREE HBO and Wi-Fi that other motels charge for. We are constantly improving!

The first motel we saw when we drove into town, the landscaping, lights and decor caught my eye immediately. The office staff greeted us with a warm smile. Everything felt welcoming and spotless.
We checked in and noticed other guests sitting out on their patio enjoying the beautiful evening. The room had everything we could need, it all was clean and had all the basics anyone can use for a stay.
I was pleased to learn that the room included bottled water, snacks, cereal and coffee in the a.m. The Wi-Fi worked well, and the owners were helpful in letting us know what the area offered. Overall it was an excellent experience at Rio Grande motel, we will return.

This was such a nice motel that we stayed two nights instead of one, like we originally planned. It is quite charming and convenient. The prices are reasonable, too. The owner is very nice and helpful. It is located right off the northern Truth or Consequences exit, but it is really in a tiny town called Williamsburg, which was founded by citizens of the former Hot Springs city who were pissed off that the town was going to be renamed Truth or Consequences. Makes sense to me!

Nice little Mom & Pop ~ older but well tended & the owners went out of their way to accommodate our needs ~ which we very much appreciated. We feel so much better giving our money to someone who actually cares that you are there! Sometimes these little outpost motels will charge top dollar but this was a great value for the room which was nothing fancy but entirely adequate. We were working but if we'd had more time to explore the area we'd have gladly stayed longer. Note: the breakfast burritos at the Shell station across the street are made to order and AWESOME !!!

TThis appears to be the only motel at the south end of Truth or Consequnces. I have stayed in some ritzy places recently, but like to try older independent motels that are a good value. I ended up here and paid $50. Other than a battered lampshade in Room 46, the room was attractive in decor, with a tiled floor. Pretty basic, but the place does have some character. It was fine for a one night stay.
