In planning our fifth trip to Botswana, my wife and I decided to add a bit of luxury after a walking camp where we always begin our safari. Reading the description of Chitabe, with tents equipped with glass doors, gave us pause but friends in the safari business told us that they had only heard great things about the camp,...

Our first stop on a 3 week vacation could not have been better. The accommodations, food and hospitality were great. Our guide, Luke, went out of his way to initiate us and to anticipate everything our group wanted to do. Hopefully we can arrange to return soon.

This wilderness safari camp is up to the standards of all the others. The staff is friendly, learns you name at first meeting, and attentive. The rooms are large and comfortable. The rooms are connected by boardwalks that allow for animals to walk through camp. The wildlife drives we took were unbelievable (the word our guide used). We saw a...

Dear sascrat, Thank you for your delightful review, we are so glad that you were able to have such wonderful animal sightings, as you know this is not always possible due to their unpredictability, but we have been very lucky recently at Chitabe and are thrilled we were able to share this with you. This was our first stop out of three camps in Botswana (Chitabe, Vumbura Plains, and Duma Tau). Chitabe had the very best game viewing and there was never a dull moment. We thoroughly enjoyed our experiences. Gordon was our guide and he was instructional and intuitive. We recommend this camp highly.

We love Botswana and Wilderness camps and Chitabe was no exception to our experiences. The camp has a great team that works well together! The game in Botswana is consistently terrific and the guides do an excellent job of tracking and helping us to learn about the flora and fauna.

Dear Thank you for your amazing review, we are thrilled to see that Chitabe met all your expectations. Activities available at Chitabe and Chitabe Lediba Camp include day and night game drives, and nature walks. We first visited Chitabe in October 2011 and came again in May 2014 (for 4 nights on both occasions), so we knew what to expect in terms of accomodation, staff and wildlife viewing. The "classic tented" style of rooms is comfortable, relaxed and spacious enough for two people. Connie (one of the camp managers) and her staff were welcoming, always...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The archetypal Okavango game-viewing destination. Raised on decks on a beautiful tree island in the south-east of the Okavango, Chitabe Camp looks out across a Delta floodplain that is transformed during winter from dry rushes to lush oasis, one of only a few distinct habitats in this diverse concession. Back in camp, the thatched dining and lounge area provide beautiful views, while each tent exudes its own personality, aided by superb fine art wildlife photographs. A pool provides cool sanctuary in the heat of the day. Highlights On this classic safari experience, game drives take in the different habitats - the variety of these ensures that there is an equal diversity of wildlife, including big game such as elephant and buffalo, but also a range of plains game species like wildebeest, tsessebe and lechwe in numbers that support healthy lion, leopard and hyaena numbers, as well as regular visits by wild dog and cheetah. The camp is composed 8 Tents: Spacious en-suite Meru-type tents, individually styled; outdoor shower; double vanity basins. Experiences include: Day and night game drives • Guided walks (on request) ... more   less
