Stayed 2 nights. This was our first camp on this trip, and it set a high bar for the others to meet. I enjoyed our tent’s outdoor shower (there is also one indoors). The staff were wonderful and the food was plentiful and tasty. Laundry, including washing underwear, was included. We did drive safaris. The highlights were seeing a male...

Thank you Noodlie066, for your wonderful feedback, we are delighted to hear what a great stay you had in camp with us and glad you enjoyed the outdoor shower. It is a unique experience that sadly most are not brave enough to try. Our Classic camps are generally tented camps, although a few are lodges built from permanent structures. All...

Of the three camps we visited in Botswana, Chitabe stands out for its game viewing and the atmosphere the staff created within the camp. In terms of game, we had spectacular luck: we saw leopards, cheetah, lions (including a fight in which two females defended their five cubs from an aggressive male -- we were within feet of the action),...

Thank you Joe P for your wonderful review, we still have the staff running laps for the disappointing performance during the game. December is truly a festive month in the Okavango Delta. From the yearly Chitabe’s Children in the Wilderness to the fantastic wildlife sightings of wild dogs to hyena cubs, not a day went by in the Chitabe concession...

We managed to switch our original booking to add Chitabe at the last minute. A great decision. We had previously stayed at King's Pool and Vumbura South and were curious to experience a "Classic" camp and compare to the "Premier" Level of service. The previous camps had given Chitabe big shoes to fill, but the staff here rose to the...

Dear John B, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on your recent visit to Chitabe, especially in light of the fact that it appears to have exceeded expectation! The team in camp will also be thrilled to hear they met the challenge and delivered on a par with their colleagues at the premier camps you visited! Hearing that...

You come here for the animal viewing (which is fantastic), but it doesn't hurt to stay in top quality lodging with excellent food and friendly, knowledgeable staff. We were here with Natural Habitat and would come again in an instant. Especially notable are the extremely qualified quides and drivers. This is a must-do in Botswana. Keep in mind, no Wi-Fi,...

During our three days in August we saw tons of game and lived in luxurious "tents"and at good food. Our guides were excellent both in providing service and finding game. We did a brief walking safari one day, which I recommend. What a treat.

Thank you Andrew A, we are delighted to see you had such a great stay. Outstanding and friendly service in an immaculate camp with superb game viewing. Dining facilities were sophisticated and varied but consistently to a 5 star standard. Guides were hard working, attentive and very knowledgeable. Camp management was discreet but hugely effective attending immediately to any minor request. This would have been outstanding in a city hotel, in a bush camp it...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The archetypal Okavango game-viewing destination. Raised on decks on a beautiful tree island in the south-east of the Okavango, Chitabe Camp looks out across a Delta floodplain that is transformed during winter from dry rushes to lush oasis, one of only a few distinct habitats in this diverse concession. Back in camp, the thatched dining and lounge area provide beautiful views, while each tent exudes its own personality, aided by superb fine art wildlife photographs. A pool provides cool sanctuary in the heat of the day. Highlights: On this classic safari experience, game drives take in the different habitats - the variety of these ensures that there is an equal diversity of wildlife, including big game such as elephant and buffalo, but also a range of plains game species like wildebeest, tsessebe and lechwe in numbers that support healthy lion, leopard and hyaena numbers, as well as regular visits by wild dog and cheetah. The camp is composed of 8 tents: spacious en-suite Meru-type tents, individually styled; outdoor shower; double vanity basins. Experiences include: day and night game drives • guided walks (on request). ... more   less
