We visited this camp after Chobe & greatly appreciated the remoteness of Xigera, the very different surroundings & the sense of being away from civilisation. In fact, nothing could have been more civilised than the the comforts offered by Xigera & by its attentive, friendly & very well trained staff. The common buildings & accommodation are all on stilts &...

Dear WinstonSophie, Thank you for the wonderful review, we are glad to see you enjoyed the monkeys antics and hope they did not disturb you too much. There is nothing quite as magical as a tranquil float along the waterways in a mokoro we are delighted to see this was a highlight for you. We hope to be able to...

My husband and our 23 year old daughter stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of December. In all, we had 12 nights, staying at 4 different Wilderness Safari camps, and it was a truly awesome 12 day series of adventures. Everything about Xigera is to be commended. Our family tent complex was comfortable, atmospheric, suitable, netted, outfitted with everything....

Wilderness organised a flawless flight into the Xigera strip. Lovely welcome (cool towels, drinks), taken to the extensive open-sided dining/bar/lounge area, all set - as were the walkways - on a deck above the ground, surrounded by excellent views of water, trees and bush. Briefed on the camp practice, safety, escorted to our tent, brilliant view, elephants would come right...

This was my first trip to the delta and Xigera was the first place we stayed. It made a lasting impression. Built on a little island, access is by bridge to the main lounge/dining area and then along raised boardwalks to the rooms. Animals roam freely around the main area and your rooms, which is wonderful. The nights are noisy,...

We visited for 3 nights at the end of the dry season. I had tears in my eyes when we left. At first I was a bit disappointed by the modest appearance of this camp - no air conditioning, nothing super luxurious, etc. But the food was homemade, varied and excellent, our tent was impeccably clean and our bed was...

This is a very cool camp, on an island in the delta. We loved the boardwalks, sky viewing from the patios and camp fires. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Deep in the Delta, surrounded by crystal-clear channels of water and lush vegetation, Xigera Camp is the quintessential Okavango experience. This blue-green world is home to a number of water-loving Okavango 'specials' including spotted-necked otter, Pel's fishing-owl, wattled crane and the Delta's highest concentration of the elusive sitatunga antelope. Situated on the aptly-named Paradise Island, the almostyear-round water makes this the ideal camp for exploring by motor boat and mokoro (dugout canoe) - an idyllic connection to a bygone era that allows silent and tranquil progress across waterlily-dotted waters. •10 tents (1 family) • mokoro • motorboat • game drives (water dependent) ... more   less
