Our family was on a month long road trip and needed a place to stop overnight between NYC and Niagra Falls. Binghamton fell right in the middle and we selected this hotel instead of one of the chain hotels because it seemed interesting and unusual. It also had a 4 diamond AAA rating. We were driving late and because we... More

We apologize for any inconvenience that this guest may have experienced. Our staff did inform us that there was evidence of smoking in the room at checkout. It is the hotel policy to charge a fee for evidence of smoking in the guest room and, the guest does sign a waiver at check in. We are currently in the process... More

I used the grande royale as the hotel for the guests of my recent wedding to stay at. That was an absolute mistake! Not one of the over 50 people we had staying there had a good experience. There are too many horrible things to list so I will name a few: rooms were not clean, staff was stealing guests'... More

The group rate that was contracted for this function was $95.00. In no instance was any guest charged more than this, in fact, many had there rates changed to $89.00. There is no evidence that our staff was stealing anything from guest rooms, This was not reported to management at any time. To make such unfounded accusations about hard working... More

This hotel had high ceilings, clean rooms and an exqusite breakfast room in the former entranceway. This hotel was very reasonable and had a grand interior. Some of the touches (carpets, elevator) were a tad outdated but clean/fine; the main features /bones (lights/chandeliers, giant windows, ceilings, staircases, drapes, bedding, sculptures/marble) were amazing. The Bed was very comfortable and bathroom clean.... More

Really interestng hotel. The rooms (I stayed twice this month) were large and nicely decorated. Curtains kept out every bit of light. Had a mini-fridge and microwave in each room which was handy. The area is interesting as well with historic buildings. The breakfast was OK. But if you need your sleep, be warned. I stayed a Friday night on... More

The hotel has great potential, and if you like old buildings, you can overlook the worn features. Our room was very clean and spacious, the common areas were not as clean as they could have been. The continental breakfast was disappointing, how hard is it to make sure you have paper napkins and plates? The coffee was atrocious, but they... More

What a great idea for a boutique hotel! The Grand Royale (terrible name) is the gorgeous old Binghamton City Hall building, first renovated for this use some 20+ years ago. The location is convenient, the wireless internet was free and workable, and the staff was as friendly as any I've seen recently on mid-range business travel. They were in a... More
