Though we spend a great deal of time in the Adirondacks, every year we book a weekend at the Hedges because of the unique experience it provides. The Hedges has a beautiful, serene setting along Blue Mountain Lake, well-appointed cottages and rooms and the amazing dining service. It may be one of the most perfect places to get away, relax and experience a true Adirondack experience.

A beautiful and authentic great camp experience on a crystal clear Adirondack lake. Rooms and cottages ranging from woodsy cabins to fancier Adirondack style lodge rooms. W thought the food was great. At breakfast you can order anything from omelettes and any style eggs to blueberry pancakes to French toast or all of them. Start with fresh fruit and homemade muffins! Dinner was 2-3 choices plus a vegan option or two. We used the kayaks or SUPs every day and fished and swam too. The perfect family vacation at a very special place.

The hedges is a beautiful camp located in blue mountain lake. Very meticulous, well staffed and clean. Campy cabins and beautiful surroundings. Lots of space for kids and adults to run and play. The food has been a surprise hit and enjoyed by everyone in our party. Kayaks are available and there are two areas to swim. The common buildings from the 1800’s are amazing to sit in. A real treat.

This was just what the doctor ordered....kidding! But our recent 2 night visit was TERRIFIC! We stayed in Cabin 5 which has an open view of the swimming beach. We arrived at about 3PM and waited briefly for our cabin to finish being cleaned and sanitized. The Hedges does everything possible to assure their guests are safe and guests followed guidelines without complaint, as far as we could see. We were very comfortable and enjoyed kayaking, fir pit, a spectacular sunset and a few games of Gin, using cards we made from our dinner placemats. Blue Mountain Lake is pristine and The Hedges is a gem we hope to enjoy again.

Hedges is one of the view remaining true on lake resorts in the Adirondacks. A hotel with lake access is not a resort. Hedges is special. We have been there many times and always feel happy. Being able to walk out of your cabin or room and step a few feet and go for a swim, paddle in clean clear water of Blue Mountain Lake is the meaning of vacation. Going to sleep while listing to the loons almost every night is wonderful. Yes you do see and hear the loons every day and night. People walk with smiles (when not covered by masks) and guest are generally very respectful of each other. The food this year has even improved and it was always good. We look forward to return again later this summer.

My wife and I just returned from a three nights stay at the Hedges. We have been going there for more than ten years but this year was very different because of COVID-19. Simply put, the Hedges truly sets the “Gold Standard” for addressing the unique challenges of COVID-19. All guests and staff are temperature checked on a daily basis. In addition, guests and staff are required to wear masks if they will be in contact with others. Rooms and cabins are given an enhanced deep cleaning before guests arrive. The process is extremely thorough and detailed on their very informative webpage. We felt entirely safe while we were at the Hedges and would strongly recommend you stay there if you are concerned about COVID-19. During our stay, there was a plumbing emergency in our cabin and it was necessary to move us to another unit. Jamie, the Manager, could not have been more accommodating and the transfer to our new unit went smoothly. The very good news is that the Hedges continues to be an outstanding Adirondack “great camp” resort. The furnishings include many wonderful arts and crafts decorations to complement the rustic Adirondack furniture. The sandy swimming beach is great and taking out a canoe or kayak to paddle between the islands of crystal clear Blue Mountain Lake is one of life’s joys.

This is an amazing camp!! It's like visiting your Nana at her country place - very comfortable and homey - decorated with beautiful ADK furnishings....wonderful food and a great central location for hiking or just exploring what the ADK has to offer. You never know who you will meet or what entertainment will arise from other talented guest....in our case we got to hear the works of a very good poet in his own word. We were there on a girls weekend (I use the term loosely as we ranged in age from 67 to 72) and found time to hike, explore, visit the museum etc.

We spent a lovely evening at the Hedges with a group of friends for dinner. Our group lives on a nearby ADK lake so we did not spend the night. That said, the setting is so lovely and the grounds so beautiful that we all agreed the Hedges can’t be beat if you want to appreciate the beauty and tranquility of the ADKS in a comfortable setting. Our server Cristina was excellent. She was attentive and friendly. Other staff were equally gracious and welcoming. As other reviewers have noted, the menu is limited. We were there for an Italian-fare night. There were about 4 different options, including a vegetarian option and a salad-meal option. Our group tried all, and everyone was pleased with their selections. The fare is not NYC/LA 5-star fare; but for this part of the ADKS, it’s 5-star. The dining area is decorated in a pleasing camp-style manner. The Hedges seems like a great place for the entire family... a happy, beautiful spot for all ages.

I had the best night’s sleep at the Hedges! The bed was the most comfortable ever, and the pillows were so heavenly, I took a photo of the label. Boy, oh boy, oh boy — if only I had had more time there, I would be a new person. The Hedges is beautiful and comfortable, like a favorite chair, but at the Hedges, they have the good sense to reupholster the chairs every two or three years. Fantastic place if you are going with friends who are not into big league hiking or canoeing because you have the Adirondack Experience, Blue Mountain Designs, Great Camp Sagamore, and now, Hedges-sponsored activities like yoga, star watching, and pastel drawing, so it’s a very good option for someone who is not burning to climb Blue Mountain, but of course, for those who are, it’s there. Terrific atmosphere, beautiful environment, good food, wonderful place. I’m sad I had to leave.
