The owners, Mary Ann and Gill are incredible...friendly, helpful. They treated us like family. The house is incredibly beautiful, clean, neat and restored to its original time period. Breakfast was delicious, fresh ingredients awesome coffee. Centrally located and walking distance to the village/business district. Highly recommend for a restful, restorative long weekend!!!!

We have just returned from a three day weekend at The Post Cottage, and we had a thoroughly delightful time. We were greeted by Mary Ann and Gil, who gave us some important information about Olana and the Thomas Cole Historical Site (it never occurred to us to call ahead for tickets) as well as a variety of ideas for dinner. Our room was lovely, large and comfortable and furnished to be consistent with the home itself. (But the bathroom was thoroughly modern!) Our three breakfasts were a real treat. Fresh fruit every day, coffee and tea and juice, freshly baked croissants, and then the main entrée. It was all excellent, but our favorite was the sweet potato pancakes. The house is comfortably furnished and there are places to sit both upstairs and down, should you have some time on your hands and want to get out of your room. (Great place to relax and get a little knitting done!) We walked to and from the Thomas Cole Historical Site twice, and the drive to Olana took no more than 10 minutes. “Downtown” Catskill is an easy walk, with a variety of restaurants. But one of the highlights of being at The Post Cottage was interacting with Gil and Mary Ann. They are great (and gracious) hosts, and they are fun to talk with. We had a very good time there, and we hope to return before too long.

We stayed at the Post Cottage for a long weekend in July. We entered through an avenue of flowers and a garden lush with foliage and vegetables. The tennis court was ready for us to play. We were sold! Our very attentive hosts, Mary Ann and Gil, spoiled us with sumptuous breakfasts and unexpected extras – fruit, nuts, wine and cheese in our bedrooms; Port and chocolate chip cookies at night; lemon and mint flavored water at the tennis courts; and a boxed breakfast for our teens who slept-in. Our two rooms were large and beautifully decorated, and the bathrooms, tastefully renovated. The location is perfect – next door to artist Thomas Cole’s House and a short walk to the Hudson River Skywalk, which takes you across the Rip Van Winkle Bride to Olana, home of artist Frederick Church (both homes are historic sites); a short car ride to the Basilica on the Hudson, where we attended a wedding; and a short walk to Catskill town for food and excellent local ice cream. It was a short stay, but very sweet get-away – Thank you!

The Post Cottage is a charming Bed & Breakfast located in Catskill NY minutes from downtown Catskill and aproximately 15 minutes to Hudson, NY. Our visit to Post Cottage was a one night stay to get some needed R&R which owners Gil and Mary Ann were able to make us feel extremely comfortable at home in their very inviting B&B. We arrived Sunday afternoon and stayed in the East Room which was nicely decorated as is the entire home. The B&B is minutes away from Main Street Catskill with its shops and restuarant where we had brunch at the Mediterranean Bistro followed by window shopping as many stores were closed on Sunday. Later in the day we visited Hudson, NY with its fine restaurants and shopping. We ate at Baba Louie's located in Hudson a simple italian restaurant serving brick oven pizza, delcious salads and much more.. If prefer gourmet dining they can provide a list of fine dining establishments. Back to the owners Gil and Mary Ann were fantastic who I asked to provide a birthday cake for my girlfriend which they prepared a Strawberry Short cake that was waitiing for us after returning from dinner. A photo of the cake and port wine beautifully presented shown in photo attached to this review. In the morning we were served a delicious breakfast of grapefruit, sweet potato pancakes, eggs, croissant, ham and a great tasting coffee. Again the service was excellent. Since it was a last minute trip to get some R&R we plan to visit The Post Cottage again to visit Frederic Church's Olana, Thomas Cole National Historic site along with a visit to Nort-Side Lake to swim, hike and other acctivies. If you're looking to get away for a peaceful weekend this is the place.
