The drinks, the motel employees, the bar/restaurant attached to the motel and the Alex Bay bike rally with good bands and cheep beer
The Bad:
The River Rat Motel is several miles from town . (but you know this going in)
The Ugly:
My Husband and I always joke that the smaller motels usually make the most memorable stays with the outdated rooms. (but we always have a great time)
The Rat pushed this to the limit with the desperate need for new bedding.
For this reason I have to rate the hotel very poorly.
Paper bath mats, ceiling had obviously leaked in the bathroom and they didn't bother to repair the damage, only one towel, the wi-fi was very bad in our room, none at all in the other rooms. I could write more but I'm trying to forget the experience.
had a room right next to laundry room and heard the door slam every time some
one went in/out..1 pillow each.. did not have our room cleaned. had to ask for
clean towels...run down motel...
We 'upgraded' to a non smoking suite and upon entry there was a distinct musty smell of stale tobacco! Fortunately it remained in that room and not in the bedroom.
However the bathroom was terrible! Sagging floor near the shower, huge iron stains from the wall to the shower base!
We were particularly impressed that the dead fly on the window sill managed to survive 3 days 'cleaning'.
Fortunately we were so busy having fun that we did little more than sleep there..
The RiverRat Cafe is not included in the bad review as we ate there and were very impressed by the quality of food and servers.
The motel however is one to avioid. Old and tired and very much in need of a makeover!
