The Wooden Boat Inn is Clayton's very first, and only, unique boutique motel, located in the historic village of Clayton. Under locally born & raised new ownership, the Wooden Boat Inn has been restored with new rooms, but the campy, nautical, warm charm & spirit still remains. Just one block from the world famous Antique Boat Museum, there are many unique shops to visit & restaurants to choose from. Enjoy a scenic boat tour around the Thousand Islands St. Lawrence River & be sure to visit the impressive Boldt and Singer Castles. Fishing, scuba diving guides and boat rentals are just a short drive from the village. There's also a public boat launch and overnight dockage nearby. Whatever it is that brings you here we want you to feel at home with us at the Inn. Stay local. Live local.
My grandfather built this motel circa 1945. Besides the main structure house and motel which he built and he was Francis Marshall the only thing left of the Maranna Motel for Maryjane Nancy and Ann their three girls is the barbecue out back and the base to the sign which is gone ….

The updated and very clean rooms stand alone! I've stayed at other places in Clayton and hands down the cleanest.. comfortable beds. Each room has a different theme. The patio area feels like your in your own backyard. The owner, PIA, is the extra bonus! she is ready and willing to help make your stay as memorable as she can. She goes above and beyond! I can't say enough!!!

Pia is the best!!! We have stayed here in past years and the Inn is better than ever! Since Pia has taken over proprietorship, the rooms have been totally upgraded from interior plumbing to interior decorating, and each room has a clever theme running through it. Pia has taken time to make sure that beds are comfortable, linens are fresh and new with additional amenities being available in each room. The screened in porch has coffee ready 24/7, magazines, games, umbrellas for a rainy day, snacks and fresh water. The outside sitting area allows one to make a fire and sit back and enjoy an evening with friends. If one prefers to grill, they can - what is needed is there for you to do so!!!! There is also a picnic table with an umbrella - just relax and enjoy! This place is our home away from home. We love Clayton as our once-in-a while escape, and when we head up to the Islands, the Inn is our choice!!! Thank you, Pia, for making your Inn a warm and secure place for all to stay in!…

Excellent, all around! We stayed in the house, which is adorable. The beds were comfortable, linens were of high quality and comfortable, and the place was very clean. Check in was so smooth. We arrived later in the evening but Pia had sent me a text earlier that day with all of the info I needed to get us in. Loved the little courtyard area and the shack, where my son and I sat and read for a bit during the evening, and where the are some snacks, water, coffee/tea, ice and more. The window AC units kept us quite comfortable at night. Location was convenient…a walk to anything in town. Pia lists several places to eat/hang out along with things to do. She adds personal touches that make you feel welcome. We got to meet her during stay and she couldn’t have been nicer! You can tell she works hard to make her guests feel welcome and takes pride in her inn. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to stay again! …

We are a "chain" hotel family. We reached outside of my comfort zone to stay here. I was nervous upon booking. Upon our very easy check-in, we found our room exactly as it appears on the website. My nerves were quickly laid to rest and my vacation began (7 nights). My husband was slated to be a Marshall for the BASS Elite tournament. This meant my staying behind. Everything was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is small but as someone else said "who cares." The sink is located outside the shower/toilet room. We had a fridge, a table with two chairs, a large closet with hangers. We had access to a wonderful firepit, bbq grill, and seating area. We asked for extra wash clothes and towels and received them immediately. It is located in a great area of the small town. I walked everywhere enjoying the local community and fare. Pia (new owner) did an amazing job renovating each room and putting her personal stamp on each. She is talented, creative, smart, and courteous. Pia does well serving her patrons. Easily, we would stay again and again and again. I cannot possibly speak highly enough of this wonderful diamond nestled away in a neighborhood and the change in my attitude of chain hotels only. Loved our visit!!!!!!!…

Gave this place a try, not a good decision.! I felt like the bed hadn’t been changed, there were bugs. The water in the shower was cold. The neighborhood was quiet, but it was way overrated and over priced for what it was.

Pia's inn is awesome! Our crew of 7 stayed in 4 of the 6 available rooms. Each room has it's own unique charm. Check in was effortless and the rooms were not only super comfy but very clean. The courtyard was a great place for all of us to convene before and after our many adventures in Clayton (and A-Bay). The location is perfect and walking distance to all Clayton has to offer. If you are thinking of staying here....DO IT...You will not be disappointed!

My family and I recently traveled to Clayton to visit extended family in the area. Unfortunately, because of some serious health issues, we were limited with our choices of entertainment and venues. We booked the house at the Wooden Boat Inn and it was the perfect place for us to spend time together. After learning about our situation, Kristy Hoover from Orion Art Studio and Gallery (located just down the road), was kind enough to give my family a private watercolor class. She brought all the materials to us and we set up right at the dining room table! We had an absolute blast. Kristy is an excellent teacher who made the time fun and entertaining. We learned new techniques, painted some awesome pictures, talked, laughed, and had a wonderful time. I am so fortunate that we had a perfect place to stay and an awesome watercolor class to make our weekend so memorable. Additionally, my daughter accidentally left her favorite stuffed animal at the Wooden Boat Inn, and Pia (the owner) called to let us know. Between her and Kristy they overnighted the doll in the mail and got it safely home to us! I can't thank them enough for all they did for us!! Such great people who took the time to make sure our stay was the absolute best it could be!…
