The wife and I have stayed at several Bed & Breakfasts over the past few years and this one stands out as exceptional. The woodwork in this house is the first thing that one notices as soon as you walk in. Second, is the welcoming spirit of the innkeeper. The rooms are roomy and comfortable. It was a blizzard when...

I'm reading your review as the wind is blowing outside my kitchen door! The winter can be beautiful here with snow on the vineyards and lakes. It is much nicer to be inside and toasty, with a great sleep, hot shower and a specially prepared breakfast. Valentine's weekend is usually pretty busy here on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail and...

This was our second stay at 1922 Starkey House Bed & Breakfast Inn. It was never a question that we would return given the wonderful time we had last year. This year was even more enjoyable and our only regret was that we could not stay longer. Cathy prepared the most delicious breakfasts for us as well as treats in...

The ultimate compliment is that you have returned to find your stay even better this time around. The best thing I like about my business is repeat guests who eventually become like family to me as well. I am looking forward to your next visit and encourage to bring friends/family along. Thank you Cathy

This was an absolutely last minute surprise birthday party trip for my wife. Her two friends from Brazil were part of the surprise (came in that morning) and so we had 4 people to accommodate with zero budget (this wasn't planned for). Looked at a number of wonderful places in the Finger Lakes and chose Cathy's place primarily based on...

It was my pleasure to provide the very best I could at short notice. Your group was interesting and fun and I am glad that you all enjoyed every aspect of your stay. Yes, my location along the west side of Seneca Lake, about twelve miles north of Watkins Glen is perfect for access to wineries, breweries, shopping, downtown excursions,...

Cathy the owner and innkeeper was very personable, good cook and knowledgeable about area. Inn was adequate but overpriced for type of accommodations. Would suggest placing hangers and alarm clock along with better lighting in guest room. No central heating or air conditioning, however, space heater took off chill. No heat in bathroom unless you moved space heater into bathroom....

The Robin's Nest Suite is the room you reserved for three women travelling together. This room has booked the greatest amount of times over the past several years because of the added den space and access to the upstairs porch with distant views of the lake and gardens. I was happy to offer you the savings which you were looking...

This stay was wonderful, from the breakfast to the small touches. Our room was comfy and it was great location. We visited Seneca and Keuka breweries and wineries. Cathy is an amazing host! This was my first stay at a bed and breakfast, and Cathy set a high bar!

Thanks for taking the time to write here. This year was a stellar year for those visiting the Starkey House that have never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. I strive to provide a comfortable, clean, cozy space for my guests with personal attention, but I do not impose on their own experience. I am pleased that you enjoyed...

Cathy was an outstanding hostess! Our stay at the 1922 Starkey House was very relaxing and felt right at home. Cathy's breakfast and afternoon snacks were delicious. There was a very nice porch to sit and have a nice glass of wine or beer you may have picked up on the days outing and enjoy the relaxing view of Lake...

It was a pleasure to have the both of you stay and I am happy that you enjoyed the house and the area. We stayed in "la chamber" which was on the main floor. It was decorated very nice and it had a nice bathroom in the room. Cathy was a great hostess, her breakfasts were delicious and her knowledge of the town and the history of her house and area was very interesting. We loved hanging out on the porch. All in...

The weather is cooperating and it has been sunny and mild. This week the temps went back up into the high 70's! The leaf peaking season is extended and guests are enjoying the porches, the lake and vivid colors. The wineries are providing tours that include guests being able to experience the crushing of the grapes. Thank you for your...

My husband and I were at Starkey House last month with another couple. We travel extensively and often stay at B&Bs so have good knowledge of appropriate expectations. After our stay I re read the reviews and we certainly did not have the same opinion as other guests. On the plus side was location. The lake is lovely and the...

Yes, indeed your experience was not a good one! Out of all of the details you point out I would like to address the fuse that was blown. Yes, the circuit breaker did go off and that was corrected as soon as possible. When cleaning your room, it was noted that one of your lamps was not plugged in, and...

After hiking Watkins Glen State Park we arrived at the Starkey House to a warm greeting from Cathy with plenty of tips for places to see and eat on our first trip to the Finger Lakes. I have a smile when I read your review, especially about the fruit and cheese platter. I have taken your hint to put a little less on the plate! Sometimes during my creative moments regarding food, I want my guests to enjoy the full experience. The platter is just meant to be like an appetizer platter. Thanks I do hope...

All the reviews due the B&B justice. We had a very relaxing time at the 1922 Starkey House. Cathy was the most gracious host and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The breakfasts she prepared were amazing! The house had a lot of character and the rooms were great. We will definitely stay there again.

I always enjoy telling guests about the history of Starkey and the house itself. Everyone comments and compliments the American Chestnut woodworking and stained glass windows that original from when the house was built in 1922 according to the Arts & Crafts period of architecture. Looking forward to hosting you again on your next trip to the Finger Lakes! Thank...
