The Wingate has a fantastic location in the heart of historic Ellicottville making for an easy walk to cover all of downtown during the Taste of Ellicottville Festival. This is not a 4 or 5 star hotel, but is perfect for what it is, a very nice modern 4 story hotel, ultra clean, with an indoor pool, outdoor patio, nice central lounging area with a TV and fireplace as well as having an excellent continental breakfast. I can see how it would be popular with the skiers. Our room was very nice, and the breakfast was a notch above most of your traditional continental breakfasts you come across. The town itself is charming with shops and at least 20 restaurants and a brewery or 2 just past the hotels parking lot. Would definitely stay here again when traveling to or thru Ellicottville in the future.

we stayed this week at the Wingate. We had a queen suite (2 adults, 2 teens + dog), with pull out couch which was very roomy to accommodate everyone including our small pooch. The staff were very kind and helpful. The breakfast was great, especially the waffle station and hot eggs/sausages. My wife says the coffee was excellent as well. For those with pets, its an easy walk out the front door, to the side of the building to let your pet do their business. Also for those with EV vehicles, there is are public charging station, 100 yards from the hotel, which was a huge bonus! The pool is good size and at a great temperature , and the hot tub is perfect to use after a long day on the slopes or venturing around town. Our room had a kitchenette with bar fridge, microwave and dishwasher. My only comment would be, with those amenities a few dishes and cutlery would have been appreciated. I'm not sure why there is a dishwasher in a room, but no dishes /or cutlery to put in the dishwasher to clean them. If you have a suite, bring your own cutlery and paper plates. Graham

Very comfortable. Great location! I recommend calling hotel to see if there are any discounts before booking through third party because they can’t honor any discounts unless booked through them directly. I tried to use military discount at check in and they couldn’t honor it because we booked through Expedia.

Smelly room (mildew / mold) stains on chairs, unkempt room. The hallways looked scary with peeling wallpaper and brown stains all over them.
In severe need of a deep remodel down to the bedding.
The bathroom wasn’t disgusting and I would have felt comfortable sitting on the seat.
The only kudos I can give is to the cleaners who did a decent job dressing up this pig of a room.

The location is excellent, walking distance to everything in Ellicottville and driving to Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Hotel needs lots of work. The room keys (cards) need to be recharged daily if not after each use (Staff say that they have been telling this to management for months). A/C thermostat wasn't adjustable and required a code. None of the staff knew the code (we tried several and found that 1234 worked). The staff suggested we us the grill on the patio so we bought the meat and found the tank empty. The staff said they don't keep extra tanks, don't have petty cash to refill and the manager said they wont refill it. The hot tub didn't work, which was disappointing after a nine-hour drive there. They did say that it at least had warm water in it. It is also UNSAFE! there are sharp edges in the tub that cut through skin. one of our kids ended up with five cuts on his foot. The upside is that there is a first aid kit in the pool room. They may want to change their water from the blood. Because we came as a large group, we ended up changing rooms as people moved out. We were told that the staff won't change the sheets because they're short-staffed, but they were kind enough to provide us with fresh sheets. If you plan on being there for multiple days, plan on getting the same generic breakfast every day (waffles, scrabbled eggs, and snausages). We were told because of Covid, the hotel decided not to alternate options like all the other hotels in that category. Its a great place to stay for the location. Check the grill tank before you buy food, don't use the hot tub, and explore the many options in town for a good breakfast.

Clean, comfortable, and stylish room and lobby. Short walk to a fun main street. Good standard buffet breakfast. We had a standard two queen beds room, which is spacious ..... with a desk, seating chairs, a dresser, and refrigerator and coffee machine. It is good value for your money.

The hotel is comfortable, clean and the breakfast was very nice. The problem is, this hotel advertises they are pet friendly... but there is a $75 additional charge for a pet. Typically hotels charge between 0-$25, so this amount is out of scope. Therefore they are not really pet friendly... just pet tolerating.

We stayed here with one night and rented three rooms. Our families got adjoining rooms. We had a great evening and enjoyed the hot tub and the pool. We like the downstairs area that had couches where we brought in some takeout and set together as a family. There were nine of us altogether. We skied the day of and the day after at holiday Valley, which had great conditions two days before Christmas. The front desk had amazing customer service, and the gentleman that worked. The breakfast bar was so kind and thanked us for staying, definitely recommend this Affordable for families, clean and very centrally located. You can Walk to all of the shops and restaurants in Ellicottville from here.

We reserved a suite for our family of five and it was a real suite: two rooms with separate thermostats and tv sets and a large kitchen. The living room featured a working fireplace, a foldout sofa and plenty of chairs. The bathroom was enormous with a large walk in shower and a jacuzzi as well. Service was excellent and the location was perfect, just a block away from the center of town. The people at the desk were friendly and informative. I recommend this highly!

Our family stayed for four nights in two adjoining rooms for a ski vacation. There are many really good things about this hotel. The staff, especially Kim, were helpful and friendly. The location is great, across the street from Tops Market, and walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Holiday Valkey is a one mile drive. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with a safe, fridge, and microwave. We all got very good night sleeps.
Other amenities include a nice indoor pool, complimentary breakfast, free parking, and a ski storage room with free lockers to use. The only reasons that this hotel doesn't get five out of five is because the hot tub was our of service, and the breakfast was only okay, with poor tasting orange juice, and some items running out each morning. Overall, we had a very good and enjoyable stay. We would definitely stay at the Wingate again if the rate was as good as we paid!
