This hotel is extremely overpriced for the quality. It’s very basic, tired, and dated. Our room didn’t fit the description we read on their website. When I mentioned it to the manager, she said that each room was different. She also said that other guests have complained about the price, and shrugged it off with no further comment.
The staff at the lodge are professional, extremely helpful and caring to the needs of visitors. We had a room with a balcony, and the view of the Shawongunk Ridge was just spectacular and tranquil. We actually saw shooting stars last night. The room was spotless, the food is farm to table, and Covid safe. I’ve stayed here multiple times over the years, and while prices have gone up (that’s just everywhere now post Covid), the lodge is still rustic and beautiful. I absolutely love the central location between Minnewaska Lake, the town of New Paltz and the thruway for other adventures. It is my go to spot when I need a few days for hiking, biking and leaf peeping.
Would not recommend it to a friend. We booked the lodge for our wedding weekend and invited all of our guests to do the same. We could not reserve a room block since it was July 4th weekend. We chose this location over a year ago when it was under different ownership, it was sold December 2021, after all of our guests had already booked their rooms. The location is beautiful, but the hotel itself leaves much to be desired for the price. We booked the suite for $450 a night and were less than impressed with the accommodations. This room has no balcony as it is downstairs on the ground floor, just a concrete patio out the back. I wish we had booked one of the rooms upstairs with a balcony and a view, the suite was not worth it. When we arrived, the suite had a dehumidifier running which filled up within the first day of our stay, which I found concerning. Nobody from the hotel came to empty it or provide any other housekeeping while we were there. We were also very disappointed with the staff and their treatment of our guests. It seemed everyone paid VERY different prices for their rooms, some spending suite prices for rooms with dirty cups and active construction happening. If rooms were $150 a night the hotel amenities and service would be acceptable. The price we, and our guests, paid was not worthy of the treatment and amenities we received. The location is great, this could be a wonderful hotel, but under this ownership we will not be back and will not be recommending this to anyone else.…
For the price they're charging, there were quality issues. No soap in the shower dispenser, and after notifying the front desk, no resolution. No housekeeping service. Really? For $350/ night? Open construction in our room. Dirty coffee cup left from the previous occupant. This place is 99% about the view of the gunks. It's a shame, since it's easy to imagine this place must have once been memorable.
I very rarely give bad reviews. But for $300/night the place could use an update. First of all I don't feel the place is handicap accessible (ADA compliant). There are only 2 spaces that are handicapped in parking lot. We were told by the front desk "you have to reserve in advance" because evidently they let anyone park in those spots. Otherwise the walk to main parking lot is a couple hundred feet away. But there is a ramp to the main entrance. But there are no elevators. No grab bars in the shower, no elongated toilets but there are slip resistant matts in tub. The tub shower valve was put on backwards so hot is cold and cold is hot. Slip resistant tile is highly recommended. The rooms are larger than average but recently had work done and not completed like exposed pipes for the A/C unit. I think the mattresses are too soft and indented. Wood furniture could use a varnish coat. There is a nice continental free breakfast. One restaurant in the immediate area. No indoor pool. But there is a fire pit in rear. Personally we should have stayed in Poughkeepsie. Plenty of nice hotels for the same price, conveniently located and more ADA friendly for older people.…
We have stayed twice now and like to get the cliff side view rooms. The staff there has been amazing both times we stayed. They are always helpful and friendly and go out of their way to enhance your stay. It's a beautiful area to stay in- there's so much to do nearby.
We had plans to head up to the Minnewaska Lodge over this past weekend. On Friday there was a terrible ice storm and slick driving conditions in the Hudson Valley area, and driving was dangerous. We assumed that if we didn't make it there for Friday night that we'd have to pay anyway, but I called the Lodge to inquire. I spoke to Pooja, the Manager and member of the family that recently purchased the Lodge, and asked if we could get a credit if we didn't feel safe driving up from NYC on Friday, or could we reschedule for a different weekend since the forecast was for frigid temperatures all weekend, etc. Pooja asked me "what would I like to do?" and gave me the option to do whatever made us happy. We greatly appreciated the option to wait til Saturday morning to drive up and not risk the hazardous roads. It was just one example of the warm, family hospitality that we enjoyed over the weekend.…
Wonderful, cozy, family- and couples-friendly lodge with a great cliff view, super comfortable beds and terrific common room with gas fireplace and abundant continental breakfast choices. Plus, the property is close enough to shopping, restaurants and hiking trails while still having a remote feel.
Excellent service and personal attention. A cozy and quite environment. Very good location. The options for breakfast were well varied eland fresh. We really enjoy fireplace. We hope in God to return soon.
We stayed here for 2 nights for a mother-daughter trip. The location was great, near lots of hiking trails and horseback riding. Fire pits in the expansive backyard. Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental style consisting of coffee, tea, juice, muffins, bagels, granola, hard boiled eggs, chobani yogurts, mini baby bell cheese, etc. Will definitely stay here again.
