Over the past 20 years, I’ve been coming to Trout House. I don’t come here every year but when we do, it’s always in the fall. Usually October for my birthday. For us, and our dollar, this is the BEST place to stay ok Lake George. Keep in mind, it’s not in Lake George Village so there’s a bit of s drive to get into LGV (about 25 miles). The Pros: all the cabins have a great view of the lake. Over the years I’ve stayed in two different cabins. General Borgeouyne and Ethan Allen Log. Ethan Allen Log (not the Ethan Allen patio) is my favorite, feels like home to me. The staff are all really nice, helpful people. They know what they’re doing around here that’s for sure. They take care of your needs as a guest here, but they also leave you alone and don’t bother you! The views. You’ll never get bored of the amazing views and because the resort property is so large, you’ll get all kinds of amazing views and pictures It’s open year round. I love the off season because it’s not crowded, it’s very quiet and you’ll appreciate the privacy. But if you’re a summer person, there’s lots of activities right on the property that’s fun for families or couples or a bunch of friends getting together. They base prices on seasons which is fair! Why would I pay a higher summer price in the dead of winter? Wood burning fireplaces. Some cabins have gas but I prefer a nice crackling wood burning fireplace. They set it all up for your first night, after that it’s up to the guest to build your fire. Which takes literally two minutes because they provide everything! Wood, kindling, matches, newspaper etc. It’s just simply beautiful The cons: Not too many negative things to say, honestly. I’ve never had any issues with service, price, billing, reservations etc. everything always goes smoothly. The cell service can be spotty. But come here to get away from the cell phones and internet! It’s not too much of an issue. Non connnection only happens sometimes. Tips: I would come ready and packed with groceries and the things from home that keep you comfortable. You cannot just “run to the store” around here. The stores are not close by and can have weird hours in the off season. So make sure you bring the hygiene products you need, food for cooking (if you stay longer than two days, you’ll definitely be doing some of your own cooking) bring all your snacks, bring food that you love but that’s easy to prepare. They have a full stocked kitchen so you don’t need pots pans dish cleaner etc. bring your alcohol with you if you plan to have drinks etc. just do a good supermarket shop before coming so you’re prepared. Again, shopping for that stuff up here is not easy and would definitely be an interruption in your fun. Overall: it’s fun, beautiful and most importantly to me, relaxing. I don’t come here to do much. We hang out, go into town (bolting landing and lake George village) do some souvenir shopping, go out to eat etc. but there’s lots more to do if you’re looking for fun lake activities. We mainly come for relaxation, getting out of the suburbs, not do too much driving etc. kids will love it here but bring their stuff from home that keep them occupied during the downtime or you’ll have a bored kid at night and that’s no fun for parents. So make sure they have their things with them to keep them entertained. It’s a great place, five stars as usual. No complaints. We will be back!

Stayed in Eagle's View for one night and could not have been happier. The suite is perfectly laid out with a full kitchen, washer dryer, jacuzzi tub, gas woodstove and comfortable king bed. Spotlessly clean throughout! But it is the porch overlooking the lake that makes the spot perfect. The entire resort is beautifully manicured. Although the property is not right on the lake, there is a private beach with plenty of kayaks, canoes and boats available for us. One caveat - our room was at the top of a steep hill so anyone with mobility issues will have a difficult time walking to the beach. I would recommend this spot to anyone - it is wonderful!

We have been vacationing here around 12 years now and Trout House is so consistent. Everything is always so clean from the cottages to the sandy beach. Alice walks around several times a day making sure everyone has what they need. Staff is very friendly and the grounds are beautiful and well kept. Can’t wait to return!!!

Not pleased by anything. Upon arriving, no parking available. No handicapped parking or accommodations. Stayed in main house. No frig in room, not even a box of tissues. Air conditioner so loud, could not sleep. The beach was covered with caterpillars, crawling everywhere. Landscaping poorly maintained, weeds, dead trees and stairs and railing wobbly. Left the second night and lost &185.

We chose the "Eagles Nest" based on the beautiful views, great reviews, but most importantly, Pet Friendly (only winter months). This was our first time here, although, we've visited Lake George before. Everyone was very friendly at check in. The Chalet was immaculate! It smelled "clean" when we walked in - I cannot express how comfortable we felt with the level of cleanliness in all areas of the chalet. The kitchen is greatly stocked with anything you could need (cookware, utensils, measuring cup, pasta strainer, etc.). We did bring paper towels, napkins and tin foil. We cooked everyday breakfast and dinner. We brought our food with us, but there is a Walmart about 15 minutes away if anything is needed. The cabinets in the kitchen were all labeled with their contents. Freezer even has an ice maker that can be turned on. We woke up to snow falling. Staff was around salting and plowing. Wood was kept stocked on our porch. First fire was already set up for us when we arrived. I'm pretty sure the chalet has radiant heat and we were really so cozy, the fireplace was a plus. Even though it was cold, we even sat out on the porch to take in the beautiful views. Also took a walk down to the snowy beach at twilight to see an amazing moon rise. Winter gear was available for use. We did stay in most of the days, but ventured back to Bolton Landing Brewery for lunch in an outdoor igloo. Food and beer was great. We are already planning a trip back. We highly recommend this resort.

Trout House Village offers a wonderful getaway in the peaceful part of Lake George. It’s location in the northern part of the lake offers the tranquility that is lacking in the southern part yet is close enough to boat or drive to the attractions in Bolton Landing and LGV. We stayed in the Mohican. The rates were reasonable, the cabin was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the jetted tub was an added bonus. The lakefront offers a beautiful view and plenty of kayaks and canoes. My favorite part of the trip was kayaking to and exploring the nearby state-owned islands just around the bend. We will definitely be back!

We loved everything about our 4 night stay in Seneca Retreat with our 10 year old Bichon. Trout House truly welcomes dogs. Seneca Retreat was spacious and homey.. The first fire is built by the amazing staff and we enjoyed a fire at night after happy hour on the beach. The front porch was an awesome place to enjoy the lake too. All front facing rooms had a unique view of the Lake. Trout House is a special place and one that we look forward to returning too.

Me and my family had one of the most beautiful time at the awesome Trout House Village Resort. If you are looking for a less commercialized experience at Lake George then this is the place for you. The owners have made sure to offer the best experiences for their guests whether it’s on the resort or by the lake with so many activities. We had to rent the motels as that was the only option available for this Labor Day weekend. Our check-in experience was great and the concierge person patiently answered all our questions regarding the resort as it was our first time. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. Some of the highlights of the resort are the most beautiful lake views from every room, 0.6 mile hike to one of the most scenic views of the lake, which begins right behind the resort and last but not the least, kayaking on the lake to explore all the small islands.. this was certainly the highlight of our stay here. Our boys ( 7 and 13 yr olds) loved the island hopping, fishing and the cliff jumping experience. One thing to keep in mind is that there are not that many dining options in the neighborhood so come prepared. Other than that it’s one of the best resort in Lake George.

We stayed in the Winscott room and couldn't have been more comfortable! Besides the surprisingly strong shower, insanely comfortable bed, kitchenette (which made social distancing easy!) right across from the grounds is serene Lake George and a private beach! The Trout House provides paddle boards and kayaks free of charge, happy dogs roam (and your pet is welcome too!). This was one of the best weekend getaways we've ever had- the bed was so, so comfortable which of course makes all the difference in the quality of your day! I can't wait to go back and check out the cabins. There's a teeny town with a basic grocery a 5 minute walk away and one (really good) restaurant, The Firehouse- besides that we drove 20 minutes south to Bolton Landing for more options. It was all very clean and conscientious regarding social distancing as well, which was a great comfort. LOVE this place so much.
