We have just returned from 11 nights at The Bakotu. As per previous reviews will state, it is quite basic and stuff like air con, fridge and safe are all chargeable extras, but this is only a 3 star after all, so manage your expectations accordingly. That said, the food in the restaurants is fine, the staff are uniformly friendly...

The Bakotu Hotel is a very nice hotel to stay at when you are enjoying The Gambia. It is a simple hotel with a pleasant room, no airco but in January you do not really need it. The shower is no really a shower. The water pressure is not existing. The food is ok. Breakfast is very nice. Hot water...

Pleasant hotel, clean, friendly, but rooms very basic. Pool is small and refreshing "cold". Not enough sun beds, so usual bun fight with our European friends. Ideal location if you don't want to venture to far as everything you need is local. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Stayed here for 10 nights over Christmas and New Year 2016/17. Initial room was of a poor standard, located right at the back of the complex facing the golf course. Dark, dingy and tired. The hotel staff were great and immediately relocated us to a beautiful poolside upstairs room (L12). Bedroom and bathroom small. Bathroom was avocado green and could...

There are no frills with this hotel. Rooms are very basic. One thin small towel per person and a bar of soap. Safes, air con and fridges can be hired at a price. No drink facilities at all in the rooms. Beds are small, ours seem comfortable enough but many people say theirs are not. Water pressure and temperature can...

Bakotu is a nice little resort with a central pool and lovely gardens. Our room was in a 2 storey round building, divided into 8 rooms, each with a nice view of the gardens or pool. The layout led to a sociable atmosphere, but if you like seclusion & privacy then you won't like it. The staff are pleasant enough,...

Stayed here for a week just before Christmas, lovely hotel, I have seen some reviews about the rooms however my room was lovely and spacious and well decorated/furnished. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and everyone speaks to you as you go around the grounds. The layout is good with a bungalow type setting in the gardens. Good...

The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport. Across from the hotel (a 2 minutes' walk) there is a "craft fair" in an area with restaurants. Beyond the craft fair (a 3 minutes' walk) is the ocean... The beach is absolutely stunning. The river Kotu is a 5 minutes' walk away, it is beautiful and I saw colorful beautiful...

This hotel may not be new and need a little spruce up but the set up is very good, the Gardens are beautiful and well kept and the staff are 5 star! The location is quiet but close enough to the night life should you choose. My only complaint are the pillows! (lumpy and not great for a good nights...

This hotel is situated in a small resort. It has really pretty grounds, nice staff and very naughty monkeys. It wouldn't take much to make this into a four star. The bathrooms are very dated and the owner doesn't put on any entertainment for the guests but that doesn't matter because you can go into other hotels or some bars...
