Friendly and the accommodation lent itself to traveling with family...we had adjoining bungalow rooms with kitchen facilities, veranda and plenty of outside sitting areas. Christian and his wife, Chantel, were very welcoming and helpful. Great food and lovely dining area right on the beach. I would recommend as a quiet place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of...

I have nothing but praise for the spirit, generosity and care of my wonderful hosts! I am an independent traveller, well experienced in all circumstances, and here I found a virtual oasis! Even had the palm trees over a magic beach. Just what I was seeking after a long trip to France and the UK. Madagascar has been on my...

As a travel agent I need to visit locations before I sell them to clients. We chose Chanty Beach Hotel for it's location to Sakatia island. A small hotel with 5 double rooms, 2 with kitchenettes. We found the owners very helpful and friendly. All staff fell over themselves to be of assistance to us. The food was out of...

After having toured trough the east and north of Madagascar for 2 weeks, we were looking for some relaxation days at Nosy Be. The Chanty Beach hotel is the northern-most of a few hotels lying opposite Nosy Sakatia on the island's west coast. We had a roomy bungalow with a small kitchen (which we did not use, except for the...

For the life of me I cannot understand why Chanty Beach Lodge has such rave reviews. We have just returned from there and I want to warn prospective travellers to the lodge to be very careful for the following reasons: 1. Money and an expensive watch were taken from my daughter's bag under very strange circumstances and despite assurances from...

I was due for some relaxation, and I decided to choose Madagascar as my holiday destination, and within it, Nosy Bé. I was travelling on my own, and I was looking for some peace and tranquility, and that is exactly what I found at Chanty Beach. From the moment I arrived on the island and was picked up by the...

The owners of Chanty Beach are charming, friendly and kind. However, the small hotel is not really for travellers who require the basics normally found in average hotels. These include access to the internet, TV and perhaps easy access to transport. The hotel in my view is also very isolated and the beach area although better than most along that...

Despite the unstable political situation since the beginning of the year, my husband and myself took advantage of the lull in Madagascar’s tourism to make the most this charming tropical island, discovering a quiet, safe hideaway. “Bon jour! ...Um, how do you say ‘full body massage’ in French?” Darn, despite our five-week crash course in French we had clearly still...
