We just returned from a 21-day trip to Africa curated by African Portfolio. They offered a “Safari and Beach” trip and every part of it was perfect. Our last stop was at AsDunas Lodge in Vilanculos, Mozambique. What a slice of paradise! It was the best ending to our trip to spend 4 days there. Words do not adequately capture the beauty, warmth, charm, and comfort at AsDunas Lodge. From the moment we arrived, the managers, Reaz and Chelsie, and the AsDunas staff made us feel most welcome. The entire lodge with 8 rooms sits just above the ocean with beautifully appointed rooms that includes a private pool, deck, wifi, purified water coolers, and air conditioning. There are also several pools at the lodge along with steps to the ocean that have beach chairs and sun coverings. As a part of our stay, they have daily spa treatments that cannot be missed! The artwork throughout the lodge is tastefully chosen and so pleasing to the eye. The tropical environment at the lodge along with the meals and fantastic service, made the visit very stress-free. AsDunas provides food, cocktails, beer, and wine that are outstanding! Several foods are prepared in-house including, breads, yogurt, juices, cereals, etc. One of the many highlights is dinner. AsDunas serves a five-course Mediterranean-style meal every evening with choices for the main course. The managers do a terrific job of explaining each dish and how it was prepared when served. The accompanying wines were excellent. The entire experience each evening was presented thoughtfully and professionally. We also enjoyed the jazz playlist playing in the background during dinner. During our entire stay, the managers and staff’s attention to the details of our stay was exceptional. The sunset at Red Dunes with beverages of your choice just above the lodge should not be missed. Also, our visit to the Vilanculos marketplace was equally special in learning about the history of the city along with it’s challenges and accomplishments. We are so thankful that African Portfolio chose AsDunas Lodge at the end of our trip. While the beauty of the lodge just above the Indian ocean made for an exceptional place to visit, it was the managers and staff that make us want to return. If you looking for peace and tranquility this is the place to be. The design is well thought out and beautifully done. The decor especially the lights were so unique we loved the fact that Elena supported the locals in her design of the lodge. It makes you feel like you living in nature. The views are spectacular and the rooms feel very private. The service is exceptional and the entire team makes you feel so welcome. Elena, Chelsey and Reaz went out of their way to make your stay that much better. The food is spectacular and we counted down the hours before dinner service started. The pastas were the best we have ever eaten. I would highly recommend staying here.

It was an absolute pleasure to spend our family holiday with Elena, Chelsey, Reaz and the team. This unique hideaway caters for those who appreciate the exclusivity of a smaller lodge (Only 8 rooms). And boy, does it cater? The fine dining menu is simply delicious and well thought out in both diversity and simplicity. If Italian cuisine is your thing, you will be in heaven and if not, you are likely to be converted. Service is simply faultless. Having stayed on the islands in the past, we would highly recommend Asdunas as an alternative. It offers everything the Archipelago has to give and more.

Asdunas Resort is a stunning beachfront piece of heaven, perfectly integrated in nature. The views from the property are breathtaking, with the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean stretching out as far as the eye can see. The staff at the resort are very committed and discreet. But I cannot thank enough Elena and Fabio, who made our stay beyond fabulous. They went out of their way to ensure that guests have a memorable stay. Elena and her incredible talent for creating elegant and functional spaces, her care and attention to detail, made for sure, an unforgettable experience. Elena and Fabio two great hosts. Actually don’t have the vocabulary to describe our stay. Attention to detail. Nothing was too much to ask from Elena. Wonderful and friendly staff , always ready to serve , from the housekeepers to the waiters to the chefs. Accommodation very comfortable, very private with own pool. And the food, oh my goodness, Italian cuisine at its best in a remote part of Africa. Those five course lunches and dinners infused with Italian ingredients, fresh herbs and salad from the organic garden. And the best part, Elena and Fabio’s enthusiasm to describe every dish. The beautiful views over this beautiful archipelago. Watching the fisherman on n their ancient dhows.Swimming in 25 ‘ c plus emerald blue waters. And I can go on and on …. I haven't actually been to asDunas Lodge yet (we are booked to visit in June 2023) however on my experience to date I already give it 5 stars! Elena, the owner, has been amazing! Easy communications, helpful upbeat and enthusiastic emails regarding the lodge itself and fantastic information and advice regarding diving schools and diving opportunities, offering transfers to and from local dive schools. She has made making arrangements for our holiday absolutely stress free up to now and I have absolute faith in her and her team that when we visit in June our experience will be as magical as previous reviewers suggest. We cannot wait to be there.

As Dunas was well beyond our expectations. Very warm welcome from Elena and all her staff, great food (even for the picky ones and the vegetarian ones) and very comfortable suites with a fabulous ocean view. It's the best place to relax after a long sightseeing trip in Africa.

At the edge of the ocean, there’s this special place called asDunas. It feels a world away, tucked into a place where imagination is only the beginning and expectations are exceeded. For us, this resort experience was unlike any other because of the owners, management and staff: accommodating, warm, sincere, special. The service with heart is complimentary to the secluded environment where you’re enveloped by nature. It’s a sensorial experience: you rise with the sun, lose time floating through the day, and feel held by the ocean as you fall asleep.
