I stayed here for two nights with my girlfriend at the end of a mini world tour.
The service we received was nothing short of outstanding by any international standards. This put many places we had paid 5x the amount for to shame. The staff were fantastic without exception. They organized all of our tours for us at better rates than we had been quoted beforehand all mostly worked well. We had an ocean view room (rm 4) which was well worth the extra. Despite there being no air con the constant strong breeze made the room more than confortable despite it being the hottest time of the year. I’m normally not a fan of beach huts due to the temperature and insects but neither were ever an issue in this instance. The restaurant and cocktails were also great. There was an attention to detail which is often missing elsewhere. Our only issue was the fact that we couldn’t stay longer due to our schedule.

The hotel is in a spectacular location, with some cabins right on the beach. Charming place with local decoration. Ageu, the manager, and Wilson, part of the staff, were extremely good, even taking us to tour the area and have dinner with them as one of their family.
We went diving and we had the diving center 5 minutes walk along the beach.
The hotel has some things to improve, that's why I don't give it 5 stars, such as the food service for example (that there is a closed schedule and the possibility of having a snack or drink at any time of the day in addition to drinks) and fixing something about the rooms. Likewise, I would definitely return. Vilankulos is a beautiful and authentic area, with hardly any tourists.
Thank you Ageu and Wilson for everything!

We were looking for a place with life! So when we arrived at night I ran down the length of the beach to find the spot with the most people/lights and discovered Baraka. The food was outstanding! (Biggest lobster I ever ate) an the caipirinhas as good as the ones in Rio. The room rates were very reasonable and so beautifully designed, made with old African wood techniques. We also did a tour to Bazaruto, what a joy to behold!

We were there for our honeymoon in 2019, what a divine place it was! Breakfast was divine, the pool sparkling and the staff attentive. The few minor issues we had were attended to immediately. 5 years on after a terrible personal tragedy my husband aurprised me with a return visit. We arrived full of expectations. Our first 'surprise was the reception - we felt the way when you arrive at family that have to put you up for a weekend out of duty, nothing else.

The room we stayed in in 2019 looked exactls it did then, but sadly absolutely NO maintenance was done on it since then. The linen was not renewed since then. The sheets are threadbare. The pillows are bags with lumpy stuff in it, selling like wet chicken. The towels are perfect - to remove dead skin cells - and live ones too. They will remove splattered bugs off your car, with the paint as an added bonus. The shower is a dream for a scientist with an interest in mold and algae.

The room, and the entire place in fact, is an entomologist's dream! We saw a bigger of insects there than at the area our chickens are kept part of the day. If ever there is a TV show Pool Restorers they will probably fail trying to restore this impossible challenge!

However, not all is bad about the place. Hearing our vehicle's doors go "chunk chunk" was extremely satisfying! The trip back was relaxing. We stopped at a small roadside place. We were receives like VIPs. The prego he ate wa perfect, my half chicken as good as it can be. We left with a whole cooked chicken and a few pao. That stop was the best part of our trip!

Baraka Beach was to be a wonderful base for our South Af/Mozambique family stay. The most expensive too: €100 per night.
If the place seems nice (beach, cabins, etc.), located away from the center, for the rest, it looks more like a back packers hotel.
The rooms are very basic, the water in the shower can stop flowing at any time of the day.
The services provided are of low quality: breakfasts (extra charge: €5) take a long time to be served (30 minutes) and it is not possible to have…. tea, yet the most basic element to have.
The staff offers meals to take at home in the evening and strongly asks us to take paid outings (Bazarutos, dunes, etc.). It's quite painful.
We clearly feel a lack of manager and management in this “aging” place.
A real disappointment in its quality/price ratio.
Certainly there are better places to stay in Vilankulo!

I chose this "lodge" from the pictures provided, and, NEVER judge a book by its covers. The rooms are minute! Any kind of luggage next to the bed and the room is filled. I visited with 4 couples, two of whom where overrun by ants.My room"garden room" was ok, but right next to a pump of some sort that ran on/off right thru the night. The whole"lodge" feels like suitable for a local housing, but not for overseas visitors. And even a local would keep his house in a better condition. Having said this, the staff was helpful and friendly. The bar was reasonably stocked and the food, even though we had to wait for more than an hour, superb and worth the wait. All in all, I don't know if I would recommend this place, I would think there are nicer places in Vilancoulo for less money

We spent a wonderful week in this special place.
The resort is all built in wood and looks at the beach and the sea with incredible colors.
All the people who work here are kind and helpful.
We also enjoyed the Baraka's cuisine, excellent dinners in everything served : I especially suggest the king prowns and the orange cake.
Linda is always available to help you organize the activities, we have done for example: boat tour to Bazaruto, horse riding, kite surfing, sunset to red dunes, local shopping ...
Vilankulo is a safe place lived by friendly people.
Don't miss the chance to come to Baraka.

We stayed one night but wished we were staying longer. Linda and her team made us feel totally at home. She was incredibly helpful with airport pickup at the last minute, boat contacts etc. the chalets are beautifully designed and comfortable and 3 are right on the beach with fabulous views from your bed. We had dinner and breakfast and both were delicious- the prawns for dinner were perfectly done and there were several choices for breakfast. There are lovely trees and benches to sit and read a book or chat with friends and gin and tonics and beers are always on hand - service is attentive and unobtrusive. I loved this place and wished we were staying longer - will have to be back soon !

We booked Baraka Beach because of the excellent reviews and were really suprised by this place. It's a hostel, not a hotel and it's quite run-down. It has a potential to become a cute little hostel, I agree that it's built in a nice eco style. But now you wouldn't want to swim in the pool, the furniture and pillows by the pool are run-down and dirty, the tablecloth is not beeing cleaned and there are caterpillars all over the place, especially in the shower and at your doorstep to the cabin. There are mainly two young boys working at the reception/bar and they are mostly concerned that the guests must drink rum. They were friendly and welcoming and our grown-up kids played games with them. The breakfast is good, but you will have to wait a loong time to get it. The wi-fi only works at the reception area. The boys at the reception booked us a trip to the Bazaruto, which was a terrible experience with three young boys driving an old boat at full speed with all the passengers screaming. I hope the owners of Baraka, who reportedly live abroad, will put down some money to fix it. I have no confidence in the good reviews. We were looking forward to four relaxing days in Vilanculos and were very disappointed. It feels like being scammed.
